  1. Same BS here. Still behind on Billions because of it.
  2. I can imagine him describing a woman like: "She looks good for 140 lbs, could easily be 115"
  3. Ferrari has never built a car alongside Lamborghini that had the same displacement. Always less. It dates all the way back to the Countach/Boxer days at least.
  4. Emilio, that was a great write up on this car!! Thanks
  5. Don't worry, it shouldn't take very long. We get our epic threads every 18-30 months on here. Driftracer's outing is still fresh in my mind, and we had a few good ones since.
  6. I drove a friend's '89 S4 back in 2001 or so, manual. Was just fine I thought. Car was very nice overall. The car is a GT, so even if the shifter isn't perfect it shouldn't matter IMHO. I doubt the 928 will be driven like a Cayman GT4 at the Tail of the Dragon anytime soon... Meanwhile the real POS stickshift in the Porsche family is that 915 out of the '80s 911 SC.....a sportier car with a worse shifter, and nobody ever says anything ....go figure.
  7. Should be doable for sure. Recall that the F12 TdF was putting out 770 hp out of a 6.3L (40 hp over the standard F12), and the ThethetheFerrari was putting out 789 hp out of that same 6.3 L block. The 812 putting out 789 from a 6.5L means it should push over a clean 800 without much issue. This last edition Aventador I think should offer a clean 800 hp.
  8. I was reading an article that said that arrogance in the sales industry was often good for business because typically the customer would seek "revenge" at another store of the same brand. They would attribute that one store as a bad apple and just go to another one before dumping the brand entirely. Almost seems to make sense. I never understood the idea of being arrogant with people who often have way more money than you. The networking possibilities of such a position would seem to be a perk, don't understand why the s**** attitude unless this line of work attracts real insecure jerks?
  9. There are a few subtle clues being put out there when you walk into a high end dealership looking the way you describe. Most "regular" people are very aware of the circumstance of walking into a place like this and would probably be a little awkward if they were going in to just merely browse the cars (even dressed up nicely). To be so comfortable in your own skin even while looking like a bum says you either are a real bum or you are a massive baller. Since I doubt any real bum ever walked into a high end dealership, it's safer to guess it's the latter most of the time. It's unfortunate your friend had to go get a check and couldn't just wire the cash, unless he wanted to make a statement over those 2 cents.
  10. I had heard about this Roebling Rd tragedy, but didn't know the details. Unfortunately not enough students take this thing seriously enough to make it worthwhile for the instructors. Many take too many risks and drive over their ability/experience level. For those with health issues, they should know better. Well done Cake, it's not worth it.
  11. Haha, at best you are showing some "lines", but not magazine cover 6 pack at 12%. And 12% is pretty lean, and what many guys who claim to be 6-8% actually are.
  12. I just missed seeing Evanescence perform a few weeks ago at the Sydney Opera House with a full symphony orchestra.....
  13. 15 years ago I don't think the average person knew what a SEAL was, now it's shoved down our throats every way possible. Insufferable, agree.
  14. Car is stunning. I always question spyders of extreme variants though - Performante, Scuderia, Speciale..... Aventador SV is an exception though since it's not quite an all out track car.
  15. I think one can do both. See the film as entertaining and well made while being mildly annoyed by subtle racial jabs here and there. I do find it fascinating comparing this thread on LP analyzing the film on its actual motion picture merit, versus FB comments celebrating the movie strictly on racial elements.
  16. As far as derphurf and sound stages, I would concur to a point. Soundstage and imaging for speakers might be a bit overrated. But in the context of high end sound, speakers kill headphones because this very difference is dramatic (among other things). IEMs are worse still than standard headphones in this regard. Lastly, how often is one really going to have a headphone connected to a proper pre/power amp/DAC/phono chain? IEMs serve their purpose in the world. They've gotten good enough to provide decent sound and bass with terrific convenience. I do not believe they were capable of this back in the '80s and '90s (VCR?). I scoffed at earbuds in general back then as cheap sound for non enthusiasts. Now they can be ok. I was one of those kids riding the subways with the big headphones back in high school. Now that's totally unnecessary.
  17. There's at least one (if not more) six figure turntable, so naturally elite cartridges can/will be pricey too. A $50k D/A converter for "analog sounding digital", haha. Law of diminishing returns still applies, but for the super well heeled audiophile, this is their custom built hyper car. It still fascinates me how people so jaded by exotic car and hyper car prices seem so shocked at how much audio gear goes for. At the rate audio tech moves versus other tech, what is great now will still be great 30 years from now. It still will be working well with decent maintenance after many years.
