  1. You are fortunate to have such a beautiful red on your machine. Please tell me, is it metallic or non-metallic? Paint code # if you have access to it?
  2. Yes, you should replace it. And no, most people are too lazy to do it, until it spews acid all over their console and eats it. Correct part # is only 8d0857511a from please check with our franchised lamborghini dealer sponsors.com or anyone else. Should be available from your VW dealer, but theirs is 3x the price of the Lambo version. Go figure....Usually they are 3x cheaper.
  3. Yikes! Do not try to force the mirror apart and pull wires. It will spew corrosive acid everywhere. Correct, after disconnecting the connector, you remove the mirror + the mount. It is all one assembly, and does not come apart. The new mirror comes with a mount. The only thing that stays is the male part of the mount which is glued to the windshield.
  4. Maybe I am of a different philosophy here, but your life is riding on your tires and brakes. I would not want to skimp on either, and thus always buy the best (which usually equals the most expensive). I always ask the question: "How much is your life worth?" I respect that the OP does not drive hard, but that is only a part of the equation. Other factors like wet traction and emergency response steer/brake performance is the other half....Not a place I would want to skimp on a few dollars.
  5. It is actually easy to check, even when clear. If your dipstick has holes in it, which most if not all do. Just make sure the oil fills in at least the bottom hole (min oil level when hot) on your dipstick. If you pull dipstick out, and hole is filled with oil, then you are not too low. That is why they put holes in the dipstick, instead of just bars like they used to on older cars. Much easier to check oil level now. Just make sure the oil on the dipstick is not oil you are dragging up the oil fill tube when you are pulling out the dipstick. So let car sit for 15 minutes, then check oil level on first pull of dipstick.
  6. Some types of lighting are known for slight color shifts and slightly reduced light output over time. But should not be a radical difference. But more likely the brand, like Norcal2 says.
  7. Pirelli PZero Rosso are OEM tires, very sticky, and very good tires. They also wear very fast, but who cares. Grip is the most important on these cars. And awesome in the rain, even at 50% or less tread. Why would you want to go with a Hankook or some other off-brand tire? Do you not like the tires that are on your G now? What are you running?
  8. Wiring harness often breaks, expecially on early cars. Common problem. Pads should be fine unless you cracked one or lost the lining.
  9. Maybe he traded in his Lambo for a more sensible car....and kept the plate? Maybe his lambo is in the shop getting TT'd and he put his plate on a long-term rental? Maybe he crashed his lambo, and is just driving the audi till his brand new lp670 comes in, since he did not want to retire the plate? Maybe no money left over for a Lambo after all the gold plating? More guesses?

  11. You mean that you are the only person on this forum that does not own an Expedition stretch limo? Really? Everyone else has one
  12. Rosso Vik + Rosso Leto = burgundy. Not really "red".
  13. You can't. You have to build it yourself. You want the following: 12V air pump that attaches to battery or cigarette lighter. tire glue - to lube rasp and cord patch. Makes the process a lot easier. round tire rasp - to clean hole needle nose pliers - to remove the nail plugging handle - to drive plug into tire tire pressure gauge - to make sure you have 30psi when you finish x-acto knife - to trim off the excess plug material. cardboard, garbage bag, or small sheet of fabric or foam - to kneal on if it is wet when you are doing the work. flashlight - for doing work at night. (flats only happen at night on a dark deserted road). tire marking pen - to circle hole before you plull out the nail, so that you can find it again. That is a good start, and all of this will fit into a tiny bag in the trunk.
  14. This Rosso Andromeda is the most stunning color I have ever seen on a G. It pops. Spectacular and uber rare.
  15. Why not just buy a cheap VW wheel with any tire if you are going to do that......No point to spending the big $ on a Lambo wheel/tire. Careful though, I hear that either with or without a front Lambo wheel on the rear, you can damage the AWD system, if wheel circumference is different from stock. Not sure how long it takes for that to happen, but I would be very careful getting her home. According to the factory, Lambos should not be run with 2 tires on the same axle that have more than 2/32" tread difference. So you can see that overall diameter is critical. Here is a better solution. Forget the spare wheel. Use the goo. If you do not want to use the can of goo that comes with the car, do this: I carry a tire repair plugging kit in each of our cars. Cheap insurance. It has a plug, glue, and tire pump, blanket to kneal on, etc. Use it on all our cars, even on Z rated tires. No problem. Do not even have to take the wheel off to permanently fix it. Will patch runflats or regular tires like Pirelli. I refuse to listen to BS about this not being a permanent fix, cause it works.
  16. Probably the most original redesign of a Gallardo that has ever been done. Bravo! Needs lots of refinement though, like Jimbo said.
  17. You may actually have a very valid point. If it is that close to the ground, it will pick up the radiant heat off the pavement. Which tends to be higher than the ambient air temp. That may have just explained it....
  18. All of the temperature gauges I have see in Gallardos are way off (about 4-5 degree C, = way more in F). At any temperature... Probably for "safety" reasons. Just like the speedometers....
  19. Never seen a PDF copy of the owner's manual. Maybe it does not yet exist, unless someone scans their paper manual for you. You can buy a service manual PDF on ebay...2 different versions, the expensive one, and the almost free one.
  20. Thanks for the answer! But not sure I understand. Do you run 15w-50 in stock (non-modified) Gallardos and LP560s also, or only in the TT or modified-engine versions? Seems a little thick for completely stock car use, except in very hot climate? Especially for making sure you get proper lubrication on cold starts?
  21. OEM brake pads and rotors? If not, replace with OEM parts. Aftermarket pads can squeal. Are the rotors glazed? If so, get them turned. Or run sandpaper over them. Take an air hose, and blow out the brake dust. That sometimes helps. Careful if you do this: do not breathe the toxic dust, and do this outside, not in your garage.
  22. Too funny! What do you mean by "he does" Bar Mitzvahs? You mean he crashes them? LOL!
  23. What I would like to know from Mobil1 or UGR is what oil do they recommend running in the pre-LP560 Gallardo that specs 5w40. Synthetic is the only oil I use, and we use Mobil1 in all our cars. Mobil 1 only makes a synthetic turbo diesel truck oil in 5w40, or a regular synthetic 0w40 for cars. Running a diesel truck oil spec in a performance car seems really stupid. So we run 0W40 in our completely stock Gallardo, as recommended by our Lambo Dealer. A bit thin for summer use? What say you? Do you have a direct contact in Mobil1 that you could check with?
  24. It should have a new dash plaque, with "Topcarbon" on it. Just kidding around.....
