  1. I was just going to suggest the same thing
  2. I have it on good authority that a third 220S has changed hands in the last couple months and is also on it's way to Canada (Calgary to be specific). Fantastic!
  3. The Panamera, particularly the Turbo / Turbo S, is a GREAT performing / drivers car... However, using it as a practical daily for your wife might be challenging. The rear cargo area is deceptively small considering the bulbous shape and really limits the amount of gear you can haul around for the little ones (I only have one and pray that the "stuff" we pack around diminishes as she gets older, but somehow, I doubt it!). We couldn't fit our stroller in the back, let alone that and any other you tend to pick up when out with kids... It's too bad really, because otherwise, the choice would be easy!
  4. Damn lack of tone over the internet... I was trying to be tongue-in-cheek and say that even the retarded Ultimate seems not so bad now that the new design is official. Several are saying the typical RR depreciation might not be the case with this coming down the line. As for why - I only did it to make money flipping it (which doesn't really answer your question, just passes the buck to who bought it from me... Really, I don't know why. Doesn't make any sense to me!). For the sake of accuracy though, they weren't $250k; US trucks were $170, Canadian trucks were $192... Still obscene.
  5. Not sure how it is down there, but in Canada most LR dealers are sold out of the Evoque 5 door for 4-5 months... Resale on the used is incredibly strong. I was really excited for the new Range Rover and even put my name down for an early delivery at several dealers. Makes me wish I'd kept the Ultimate that I had... Speaking of, there's dealer chatter that RR will be offering an Ultimate spec for the new truck as a regular model... ME dictators rejoice
  6. That doesn't do "us" any good... Canada allows ANY car over 15 years old to be imported with virtually no restrictions. The first Zonda C12s will be 15 years old in a couple years. An F Club Sport won't be for a long time yet. The plan hatched so far is to get an early Zonda and then send it back to the factory to have Pagani up date the car with whatever "F" bits and pieces the new owner wants... The car will still carry the C12 VIN that indicates it's ~15 years old, but has all the nice new toys But now I've said too much
  7. Like everything else, it depends what you want. In the case I referred to, he had been thinking Huayra only because he thought it was the only way he could obtain something from his favorite manufacturer... Once I mentioned this Zonda idea, he dumped the Huayra and has been Zonda hunting ever since. I should maybe keep this quiet though - there's only a handful of C12s out there and we don't want too many Canadians hunting the same cars
  8. Only another couple years until the first C12s are admissible into Canada. I know of someone who is actively looking for the right C12 now. His plan is to have Pagani update the car to basically bring it to F spec and wait out the clock until his C12 VIN'd car can be imported... Start looking now
  9. What were you driving? Got some pics or GoPro? Must've been a blast!
  10. All black rocks... Nice garage, you've got all the bases covered Is it brand new? Have the Rover dealers started the big discounts with the new model on the way?
  11. Interesting thread. I just leased a new space and was a little miffed over the landlord obviously counting mechanical / furnace rooms and being over by 14sf... Guess it's not so bad. It's been said, 20% over isn't a rounding error, isn't common areas, isn't half wall thickness, it's flat out fraud. Lawyer time. Good luck.
  12. Thanks for the replies! In my mind, you've kind of reinforced the basic idea of the article... the vast majority of diamonds are still over-valued when you buy them, if only because of their lack of scarcity and relatively worthless if you try and sell them. This is only worsened with online sites like Bluenile... They can be great for the consumer, if for nothing more than research and keeping prices in line from the brick and mortar stores. But they've also highlighted the sheer volume of stones available which leads to questions about value in the first place. I know it's not what the OP had in mind, but an interesting topic nonetheless...
  13. Strange that there would be an urgency now, as opposed to the several years prior that the car's already been sitting there for... Albofoz' post coincides with what many know as common knowledge (at least around these parts), but I'd never heard of any accident damage. Allen, are you sure it's the same car? If so, the hole this car's in just got deeper...
  14. I realize it's old, but would be curious to learn how and what has changed. My thoughts are that any diamond that can be easily sourced has very little liquid value. Meaning, even large® diamonds that usually seem pretty spectacular, like 2 ct. stud earrings, won't be an easy sell for decent money when multiple jewellers in any medium sized city will have something available. Something like what MODO's friend has that can't easily be sourced is a whole other story...
  15. Great article that might make you think twice - http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archiv...a-diamond/4575/
  16. You can't just say you "ordered" something with out sharing the specs? Tell me you got Blu Cepheus!
  17. If that's the case, Fred communicates like he's a 2 year old. And special. I could never see sending money to someone that can't communicate in a professional manner. From Fred via FChat - "no problem sorry but give me time i do it promise"
  18. I get your point, but for many members on here, a day away from the office would cost them that much or more. On that note, I agree that there's something to be said for dealing in person, whether you do it yourself, or have (pay) someone to act on your behalf. That can't always be the answer either, as Porter's and Abolfoz' stories illustrated.
  19. I'm not sure where you bought it, but have you spoke with Stuart Carpenter at Copley Motorcars in Boston? He's sold many G-Cabs and I'm sure he could point you in the right direction for insurance.
  20. I was meaning to ask if Boomer was a mini when I saw the video. I'll admit that my Dexter is in full-on winter mode and probably 10lbs heavier than he was back in the summer. Did you get him from a breeder or store? Be careful of what vets recommend when it comes to bulldogs. By no means am I saying to forgo necessary procedures, but our vet (family member) has basically said that bulldogs are seen as 'money makers' because they're known to have problems and some vets will take advantage of that by recommending unnecessary surgeries and alterations (wrinkle removal, etc).
  21. We also have a bulldog at home and the boomer video was spot-on... He's always rushing back to his bed when the garage door opens - I can always count on finding a warm spot on our bed from where he's been sleeping while we're out. Anyone looking to get a bulldog in the future, I'd highly recommend considering a mini. I hadn't even heard of the breed until I'd met my Finance's dog. Mini is kind of a misnomer; he's still ~55lbs of muscle and wrinkles. The 'mini' more describes their width and overall girth... Similar height as a regular bulldog, just half as wide. As such, the breed is less prone to the usual bulldog hip and joint issues and he's a lot more agile and energetic... I think he only sleeps 21hrs a day rather than the standard bulldog 23.5 Awesome dogs... You're powerless against the sleeping-wrinkle-face-with-tongue-sticking-out face
  22. Not always true. It's "back of the bus" for service at my local FCar dealer if you haven't purchased from them... I agree that relationships are a huge part of the business and that comes from all facetts, including purchase and servicing OT, but I thought VK screwed all Lambo dealers and owners by selling that inventory well back of invoice and pocketed the money, instead of pay off his floor plan Agreed. Everyone is in business to make money and (obviously) the car business is no different. I've always found it odd that the majority of people feel entitled to know the invoice cost on a car, but don't think twice about the 3-400% mark-up on their food when dining out and clothes on their back... When you think about it, the car business is pretty low margin. Paying a fair price to your local dealer can payoff in spades down the road when it comes time to service / trade / buy again... Definitely right here, Assman
  23. Right place at the right time, I guess. Owner was trading up, so I snagged it at the trade-in offer (no tax advantage to trade)...
  24. Data point - Just bought a '11 Turbo S coupe, $168 MSRP, 1000 miles, $138... Can't think of a better all weather sports car.
