  1. I treat mine like a manual and lift off completely, unless I'm hard on the go pedal then I just keep her to the floor and take advantage of the quick shifts. Lifting off also gives IMMENSELY smoother shifts. I've seen posts where it's been said that lifting off will NOT give you extended clutch life and I've seen posts where it's been said that it WILL give you extended clutch life. After viewing some threads ("Post your mileage and your clutch wear!"), the highest mileage vehicles with the lowest amount of clutch wear all seems to have lifted off the throttle while shifting, and have always done a spirited takeoff from a dead stop, rather than babying it up to speed. I've been doing this since I got mine, so time will tell.. -R
  2. The cigarette on the seat is a nice touch -R
  3. Proud owner of an '08 Gallardo Superleggera here I even bought it gently used from a forum member here to keep it in the family.. Can I get one too, please? -R
  4. Did you possibly push down the accelerator pedal a bit right as you downshifted? I treat mine like a regular manual and let off the gas when I shift (up or down) and have never once had it where it didn't blip, unless I'm going extremely slow and coming to a stop, shifting from 2nd into 1st, which won't blip the throttle (but it'll buck a bit and unless I keep my foot off the gas for a few seconds). That's another issue - I've noticed that if you're crawling along at around 5-7 MPH in 2nd gear, throttle out, downshift into first and gently throttle back in (i.e. to go through a stop sign), she'll buck to hell and back until I throttle out completely, let it settle down then continue on with the acceleration - very embarrassing until you learn how to drive around this! Anyone else notice this, as well? -R
  5. Just curious, but why does many use the $80 Lamborghini oil filter, and not a "normal" oil filter for considerably less? Seems steep for an oil filter to me.. And, what brand of oil is everyone running? Thanks, -R
  6. Before I bought my Superleggera (with normal brakes), I drove another Superleggera with CCB's and from my short trip, they are indeed more jerky (I truly only noticed it when coming to a stop, around 5 MPH) and the normal "gray" zone while braking (i.e. braking a tiny bit to slow down a little) was completely gone as the brakes felt more black and white - on or off, with not much in-between. I felt that you could easily get used to them in short order, so when I was shopping for my Superleggera, the CCB's were neither a "pro" nor a "con" variable in my search (since I figured you'd easily get used to them), so it came down to just finding the right car - with or without CCB's. The Superleggera that I located (that used to belong to a forum member here) and ended up buying has normal brakes and I don't regret it one bit! As far as brake dust goes, with the dark gray wheels on a Superleggera, you don't even notice the brake dust one bit. -R
  7. A-ha. Well there's the answer.. YOU DID IT WRONG! Yeah, the tube at the top area will throw a check engine light in our '08 Superleggeras - it's the original method and many forum members (here and other boards) have tried disconnecting either the tube at the top or the electrical connector in their '07+ G's, but posted that it tripped a CEL. It'll work fine on 04-06's (from what I've read) but it'll trip CEL's on 2007+ G's, which is why everyone says you can't do this mod on an '07+ G without tripping a CEL. However, doltmo posted the diagram about the tube at the metal "T" on the bottom and then I gave it a shot with great results. I've been spreading the word ever since and I think around a half dozen guys (with an '07/'08 G) have finally tried it and done it successfully.. I don't know the mechanics behind why it trips a CEL if the tube is disconnected at the top but not if it's disconnected at the bottom, but it works for me. By the way, where are you located? -R
  8. I didn't do it!! That's very odd that you tripped a CEL! I have the exact same car (an SL to boot!) as you, down to the color. Which vacuum tube did you disconnect? You mentioned that you disconnected the tube from the electrical connector - if this is the connector at the top area, then this is most likely why it tripped a CEL! AFAIK, 2004-2006's were able to completely disconnect the electrical plug without throwing a CEL, but the 2007+ G's threw a CEL if it was messed with according to everyone on the forums. So, the correct tube to disconnect in the newer 2007+ G's (not sure about the LP560 models) is the tube running down to the metal "T" line, down by the license plate. It's a bit down behind the bumper (maybe around 3 inches?) so you'll have to look down in there a bit and reach in to get it. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to get the clip off.. Again, it is not near the electrical connector at the top. So, the top area near the electrical plug is not touched at all, only the tube at the bottom (not at the top) is touched. I simply disconnected this and capped off both lines without any CEL's in the past 1,500 miles. I've had it up to 190 MPH on 3 runs down a runway without a single issue, too. I've posted this several times on this board and another Lamborghini board and several guys with new G's (2007 and 2008's) have disconnected it and posted that they have had no problems. Here's a little image I whipped up for visual clarification - original base image credit goes to doltmo: Clear that CEL and try it again - don't give up! And don't be a blamer! Hope this helps and anyone else who stumbles upon this post in the next few years, -R
  9. If you guys read the replies, I previously posted that I have not tripped any CEL's by disconnecting the vacuum line in my 2008 Gallardo Superleggera. It has been over 3 weeks now and everything works just fine without any lights. So, get out there and do it! -R
  10. Thanks SO much, doltmo! I unscrewed the rear honeycomb grille and immediately found the vacuum line in plain sight towards the bottom of the grille, right above the license plate. I undid the clamp, capped off both lines and had the whole job done in 5 minutes flat. What an amazing difference! It's a great alternative until I can get a new exhaust on her - the exhaust note is WAY deeper and it's MUCH louder.. sounds more like a Lamborghini than a Toyota Prius now. Words can't describe how much the exhaust note changed from a simple little tube. It's been 2 days and I have not tripped any Check Engine Lights at all - for reference for those who find this post in the future, I have a 2008 Gallardo Superleggera. -R
  11. This sounds interesting. I have an 2008 Superleggera and it'd be nice to get it a bit louder before I get new exhaust. Where exactly is this "T" junction that you're talking about? Any pictures or general location info? Thanks!
  12. Thanks, guys! I'll be picking up my new '08 G SL soon so I was curious on the wheel weight. Er, hang on a sec. @ VCR: Did I hear right? Close to five figures... What does the OEM Superleggera wheels cost each? -R
  13. Sooo.. what does the Superleggera rims weigh? (I believe the SL rims are called 'Speedlines', even though the company makes all three? Correct me if I'm wrong please ) -R
  14. What do the Speedlines weigh? -R
