  1. Or maybe just weren't buying property in 2007 because they felt an adjustment coming? Or the same people who didn't buy VW a year ago?
  2. ^^ I tend to agree. I can't help but feel you'd have to be insane - or so flush with cash that it just didn't matter - to be parting with anywhere near the asking price for some of the Diablos on the market at the moment. My guess is that these owners asking big bucks are trying their luck - if it sells then great, if it doesn't then great too! No harm in that. In some ways that's what might keep asking prices where they are - there just may not be many actual sales. If it ever get's to a point where a significant number of owners are motivated to sell then it might be a different matter. As an ex-owner I am certainly fascinated by it and no doubt the current market did me a huge favour when it came time for me to sell. To put that comment in perspective when I first tried selling my SV in '12 I got very little interest and no offers. I then tried again in '14 and had some interest but after a period of negotiation the potential buyer walked away. 3 months ago I sold for just under twice the figure the car was turned down at in '14 - and I can tell you I will never have any complaints or regrets about it! AZLambo that is a beautiful & very special Diablo. If you do decide to sell I wish you all the best with it.
  3. Absolutely fantastic - many congratulations!!
  4. Just come across this thread..! ***** *** ******* !!!!!! That is totally off the scale! I think I am going to have to book an emergency trip out there once you've taken delivery of that beauty!
  5. ^^ and even at 670K EU - still about half the price of an F40 - a bargain!
  6. I hear you - though if I was going to buy one it would have to be purple! 100% agree - the Ultimate Diablo.
  7. Yep, incredible. Imagine what a purple one would go for now!
  8. I see your point and I somewhat agree - my point being that an enthusiast would most likely be familiar with the market and be reluctant to be paying 3x the price from a couple of years ago. If they didn't buy a SV at £90K 3 years ago why would they be buying today at £250K ? Personally there is no way I would pay £250K for a SV - they are great cars but just not worth that sort of money - and whilst I would never buy a car as an investment, I certainly would not buy a car with the potential of taking a huge haircut on it in the near future.... which is where I personally think we could be now. Of course I could be wrong, but I just can't get over the feeling that: rapid rise in values over the past 12 months + everything for sale = trouble ahead! No doubt the market is still red hot for certain cars - the SE30 Jota sold yesterday at auction for 600K Euro is pretty astonishing - but to be fair that is an exceptional car, so rare and coveted they will and should always command high prices. It's the bog standard 911 SC's for sale at silly money - that is where the problem lies!
  9. Well that's interesting as I would definitely have you down as an enthusiast rather than an investor!
  10. Well who is paying these prices for them ?? I find it hard to believe it is the enthusiast who has lusted after a certain marque and is realising a lifetimes ambition. Would you buy a '98 SV for £250K today if you knew that the price 3 years ago was £90K ? Theres 10 x the amount of Diablos listed for sale in EU right now than 5 years ago - hell there's about a dozen for sale just in the UK.. I reckon the enthusiasts are cashing out ( or trying to) and the investors are perceived to be moving in - but not to the point where there's a feeding frenzy - theres not exactly a shortage of inventory at the moment. I don't know what it means but I would be surprised if there wasn't a downward correction soon enough.
  11. Ha yeah! When I was seventeen my Dad knew absolutely nothing...... by the time I was twenty five it was amazing how much he'd learnt
  12. Incredible eh? Made me look at Johnson in a new light as well...
  13. Eh? Haggis is one of the greatest foods known to Man or Beast !!! ( along with another Scottish delicacy: Cullen Skink - so much to love about Scotland) Looking at some reports on facebook it seems the route didn't include the Old Military road - which would seem a bit of an oversight as it's rated in the top ten drives in Europe and arguably the best in the UK. Still, never a problem to have a reason to revisit Scotland. Those SV's look just fantastic.
  14. ^^ we can console ourselves that surely it cannot have been better than the 50th Giro ? ! Looking at the vid again, there doesn't seem to be anything there older than Gallardo - was this intentional ?
  15. WTF ?? I knew nothing about this and am gutted, GUTTED to have missed it! Was that Cameron House at the start? And driving up the Royal mile to the castle!! Did you do the Old Military road up the east of the Cairngorns ? I love Scotland - mainly because of the driving - I'm sure this event must have been fantastic. Gutted.
  16. I'd never thought about it quite like that...but you are dead right
  17. ^^ not a typo - check the pic of the odo - it does indeed say 1.8 KM. The only thing I can think of - assuming the mileage is legit - is that the digital odo's were reset to zero after testing. What a waste of an awesome car for 16 / 17 years though!
  18. Just found some pics I took when I removed mine - reminded me further of what's involved.. The cover is actually made up of two parts , one on top of each other. The top part is held in by the plastic rivets and torx screws: And the bottom section is held in place by the bolts. Also you will have to move / remove the collar around the fuel filler to ease out the covers. Just be aware of the drain pipes attached to the bottom section - they will need to go back as they came out. ( this is all assuming the '11 is the same as the '07 of course) And in case anyone comes across this page looking for how to obtain the engine number on the G - this is what you are going to need:
  19. Yeah I tried that and still shows the Diablo - also tried using Safari (that I never usually use) and still the same - very odd! But, if you're seeing the Gallardo then I guess other people are too.... and no big deal either way really. Thanks Zack
  20. Hello, just wondering why my avatar image doesn't seem to have changed ? TIA Zack
  21. If it's the same as the Performante just undo all the bolts you can see and carefully remove the plastic friction pin things ( I'm sure there is a more accurate term for them than that!) - remove them carefully because you will have to re-use them and they can break if you give them too much bavv.. I had to take mine off to find the engine number*... I wrestled with the idea of taking it to a garage to get it done but in the end took a look at it and thought: ' how hard can it be?' and it turned out to be not difficult at all really. * Finding the engine number however, was a major ball-ache.
