  1. +1 for Sneaky Pete - very well done and unpredictable. Not relaxing at all.
  2. VERY GOOD Fortis!!! One critical question: do you clean up after yourself? Looks like you were “enthusiastic“ with your application of oil or butter. Or maybe you have “people“ for that...
  3. We changed a few things when we bought our house in 2000 including installing a 5 burner thermador gas cooktop. It has great control at low heat. Some of the burners have a low intermittent setting where the flame cycles on/off. But the big BTU center burner only works correctly when it’s cold outside. It was good maybe the first few years and then it started to fail to ignite. It clicks continuously and you can smell gas but it doesn’t ignite. And when it eventually works - the spark continues to click. Hubby replaced components but it just failed again. Since there are 4 burners that work great it’s not a problem - but I would avoid thermador in the future. I’ll definitely look into Wolf and Bluestar. And one of those little ovens is in my future!
  4. Now THAT's something I can get on board with! Been thinking about a smaller oven. We have two built-in ovens and it's a waste of energy and time to heat it up for the (usually) small amounts I cook. We are in a rental at the moment with convection oven. (Thermador). So far not overly impressed. It does brown nicely (like if roasting a pan of veggies), but it takes FOREVER to preheat on convection setting LOL I'm married and I cook almost every night. How did I not know about this? What brand is the mini? Might be perfect for the two of us. I keep seeing Instant Pot Never heard of this either. Went to their web site. OMG. Sounds like InstantPot on steroids. Kind of complicated: From their web site: This ‘compact kitchen’ performs the task of twelve appliances in one by mixing, steaming, blending, weighing, stirring, grinding, whipping, emulsifying, heating, kneading, cooking and chopping. Thermomix ® effortlessly combines the functions of a mincer, a grater, a dough maker, a juicer, a whisk, a blender, a mill, a pestle and mortar, an ice cream/sorbet maker, a mixer, an ice pick, a food processor and a coffee and spice grinder. With Thermomix ®, food preparation is effortless. Dish up deliciously delicate sauces, soups and stews. Create temptingly tasty jams, chutneys and preserves. Produce perfect purées, pastes and pâtés. Prepare fish, meat and vegetables to perfection. Some friends have a Nu Wave and have been raving about it for a year. Looks like I've got some homework
  5. Inquiring minds want to know What brand air fryer? Never heard of Instant Pot till now. Guess I need to get out more
  6. If they are going to try and mimic your weight - ask how. One friend was told they put several batteries on his seat and I’d be very unhappy with that approach even if they attempt to protect the interior. When mine was done they had a tech of similar weight sit in the car.
  7. Have you been taking lessons from Cappy again?
  8. I did have this thought (before I replied): troll Time will tell....
  9. So you go on a forum as a brand new member to ask a bunch of strangers if a Huracan is okay for a WOMAN? And you call a Cayman a POS? Wow. To answer your question: Yes - a Huracan (or Lamborghini or any car for that matter) is fine for a woman. But not every woman will like/want a Huracan. If you want to surprise her - how about you bring her to the dealer, tell her you want to buy her this present - see how she reacts and if she doesn’t like it have a pre-arrangement with the dealer that you can buy something else (or cancel the transaction). She’ll be surprised, but if she doesn’t react well at least you can save the situation. Don’t you know if your wife would like it? Does she like attention? Does she like spectacular cars that are rolling pieces of sculpture? Does she enjoy driving? Is she a “car-person”? Not sure how long you’ve known her but I can tell you my husband wouldn’t need to go on a forum to ask if I might want a Lambo. Her like/dislike may also depend on how she’ll use the car. If she has to go grocery shopping in it - maybe not so much. But if it’s her fun/weekend car maybe she’ll love the idea. Mine went for groceries, errands, on long trips, and to the track. Second (and you’re talking to someone who has owned a Lambo and a few Caymans including currently a Cayman GT4) - the Cayman is not a POS. It likely won’t appeal to many on this board because it’s a Porsche (and not a Lambo), and its a more “pedestrian” sports car. But it’s a great car. I know lots of men and some women who own them and love them. Same for Lambos - great cars. And you might be surprised to know that there are some Lambo owners here who also have a GT4 in their garage. Wishing you all the best in surprising your wife with something she’ll love.
  10. Spent a couple hours late this afternoon watching practice. It finally got up to 50 degrees F around 4 pm It was fun watching the first lap as they’d come screaming into the corner - hard on the brakes - and either lock up or squirm with cold brakes and tires. They had a surprising amount of heat and grip after the first lap. There were few people and great vantage points for spectating. Tomorrow will be busier (and about the same temps). More practice tomorrow plus a race, and then more practice/qualifying on Sunday where it’ll get up into the 60’s. One of my fave perches is the little grandstand at the exit of 5. Lots of action coming into the turn and lots of passing through or exiting the turn. And the high bank is behind me although not much seems to happen along that stretch. Iphone quality pics:
  11. Amazing accomplishment, and fantastic recognition for your dedication and persistence! Congratulations doesn’t quite cover it!!! Enjoy!!

    Happy New Year

Especially looking forward to seeing your new purple beauty!
  13. Did u like shape of water, or not? Can’t tell from your comments. My assumptions: Mute woman for TWO hours = GREAT graphic sex scenes = YEAH BABY Commie spies/evil g-men = good slimy creature = WTF?
  14. I just leave it in center console (or convenient storage place) and when approaching a toll just take it out and place on dash, or hold up. Then put it away. I don’t want tape or Velcro on a windscreen even if hidden by the mirror. But I don’t have to deal with local tolls so it’s not a “regular” thing.
  15. You should note that the last activity in this thread was Jan 29, 2011.

    Total perfection!

What is happening with the rear wheel wells? Is it an optical illusion or do they look slightly squared off? They don’t follow the curve of the tire. It looks a bit “off” to my eye. Luv the exterior color.
  17. Merry Christmas everyone! And belated Happy Hannukah!
  18. AudiBull - thanks for the link. I did similar searches but never came across this. Most of my searches found discussions about how to use a 12v jumper for a 6V engine. I looked at their product and while there is no reference to 6V, they say it’s self regulating and won’t use more voltage than the starter requires. I’ll contact them and ask some questions. Thanks! TestShoot - you’re on the right track. These are from an estate. The family doesn’t want the cars. Your battery suggestion is a simple solution. Because the cars are located a plane ride away, it’ll take some planning and coordination to get some 6V batteries but that appears to be the best route. There is time to get it figured out and prepare. Thank you gentlemen!!
  19. VCR - thanks for the thoughtful and detailed response!! That is VERY helpful and I think we need to go another way to solve this challenge.
  20. I’ve been looking (for a friend) for a jump starter that will specifically work with 6V. They all seem to be 12V from what I’ve found so far. This is not for charging - this is for jump starting. In addition - looking for something that can easily travel by plane. Something light and portable enough that it wouldn’t be a huge PITA to carry on, or even check on if needed. I’ve seen some on ebay that claim to be 12v/6V but when I dig in and read the “fine print” they are chargers, not for jump starts. I know there are techniques where you can use a 12V jumper and keep accessories turned off, and disconnect it quickly (and not grind too much) and according to many accounts I’ve read on other forums - it doesn’t do any damage. But I still wonder if there’s something out there geared toward vintage cars. Any suggestion on a resource is appreciated!
  21. thank you!! Yes the wide tires are a challenge when we travel. We found a great car wash in the Ft Myers area a few years ago. The hunt continues...
