But you knew about it. A friend of mine from HS got in trouble because he was with someone who commited a Felony. He was convicted of something like Aiding the commision of a Felony. Basically they were driving around one got out to "pee" but shut off a transformer to an entire county(pretty small one). My friend was driving and only knew about it(or so he told me) after the fact the next day.

 

I honestly dont know but from the case I described above I wouldnt see why the bystanders in this case couldnt be charged with the same thing.

The internet is a hell of an invention and has made life change...but some of the shit posted on it for all to see, has had a negative impact on our society as a whole, IMHO. You just didn't see shit like people getting beaten to death, pissed on, knocked out, etc. There wasn't access to it. And now, its just a click away and kids have a hard enough time trying to get the neuro pathways to connect and make right decisions without having to filter out all of the bullshit that some people find entertaining, or at least something that has to be seen. I'll admit, I have been curious at times and have viewed videos of some brutal shit, that I wish I had never seen. I avoid that shit now, but I cant imagine what it would have done to me had I viewed that same shit as a teenager.

That can carry some pretty stiff state and federal penalties. I have a feeling that there will be several people who will serve as examples of how a civilized society deals with its miscreants!

When I first got my CCW and was thinking about the situations in which I would intervene (with force if necessary) I immediately decided that if I witnessed a rape I would draw my gun and citizens arrest the guy until the cops arrived. It is incredible to me that nobody called the police, even anonymously, to tip them off that something was happening. They could have done so without even giving any details or implicating themselves at all.

"Bystander indifference"???? That's part of the problem. Society, media, etc, do not call people's action for what they are. Don't you think this term is a little to mild to describe the actions of the witnesses?

If something like this happened to one of my daughters, I would spend every single cent I had to have these people found and...well, you know what....them, their families and every other fucker related to them.

 

This story reminds me of that 1 or 2 year old girl that was being raped in a alley in or around NYC years again. People walking down the street saw what was happening and nobody helped! They just stopped, watched and walked away.....until one REAL MAN saw what was happening and lost his mind....almost killed the rapist with a 2x4 or something that he picked up in the alley.

I read in the news its illegal in Cali not to report a crime against a child 14 and under but the girl was 15.

Is it right for charges to be filed against people for just standing around...? I don't mean ones who videotaped the thing, but I mean ones who just stood and watched? How is it a crime to do nothing if a crime is going on? Maybe certain people have a reason not to intervene? Or maybe they did not have a cellphone (it can happen). That just doesn't sound right to me.

They might have, but some teenagers and young people have skulls thicker then tank armor, and believe nothing bad will happen to them, so they are frisky and stupid despite their parents constant warnings. I have seen this first-hand with my sister unfortunately.
