StoleIt Report post Posted April 18, 2011 Wow...all that cars and money and no common sense. not only was he unaware of the manual release switch for the doors located on the floor near the seats and detailed in the Corvette's owner's manual, the Chevy dealer on the phone was also unaware This handle isn't hidden or camouflaged. It is very noticeable. You can make it out in this image next to the drivers side floor mat.

Why do they have an electronic door handle/release but then have a manual emergency release? Why not just do a manual release on the door handle in the first place and save the weight and complexity of redundant systems? Why not just do a manual release on the door handle in the first place and save the weight and complexity of redundant systems? Not sure. I'd assume for aesthetics. All you do is push a button with your thumb instead of pull a handle (normally). This is probably mostly because the exterior handle is completely electric instead of manual. VCR Report post Posted April 19, 2011 Sorry to be rude but doesn't the owner's own words said it all... "They recommended I get out of the seat and crawl to the back of the ZR1 and pull the emergency tag. It is not a pretty sight to see a fat, 65 yr old man crawling to the back of the car. Well I did and the trunk opened."
