FikseSTS Report post Posted June 20, 2014 finished putting together my new computer setup, a Mac Pro connected to three 4k displays (one 32" Dell and two 24" Dells). The mac scales the 4k displays like their "retina" displays making for an amazing, super sharp, iPad like display on these large screens, hard to tell in the pics of course, but it's awesome to say the least... FikseSTS Report post Posted June 20, 2014 It's much bigger so you can run a larger scaled resolution, color seems better so far on the 32 out of the box, but I haven't calibrated the 24"s yet, I think I'll get them to match once calibrated, they are both their ultrasharp IPS panels, so the quality should be pretty close... three 32"s would have been better, but it started getting pricey... I got the 32" for $2100 and the 24"s for $800 each... Do you find the UP3214Q to be that much better than the UP2414Q? Great set up. Supraman_nz Report post Posted June 22, 2014 Epic set up - couple of questions for you: What do you use to connect the screens to the mac? HDMI to thunderbolt conversion or does the monitor have a thunderbolt port? What are you using to physically connect the monitors together? Thanks
FikseSTS Report post Posted June 22, 2014 the monitors have display ports, so I have mini-display port to display cables going from the Mac Pro to the monitors... Thunderbolt2 ports on the MacPro can use mini display port cables... the 30" sits in the desk, and the 24"s have these in the back, bolted to the back of the desk, so you don't have to use the monitor stands and it frees up desk space.. BigBadLambo Report post Posted June 23, 2014 How do you like that arm? I currently have 3 x 27" monitors and a 70" hook up to my current computer. I want to take it to a 1 30" in the middle with 2 24" landscape on each side and then 3 24" across the top. I am trying to find a stand to make this work. I can hook 8 monitors up to my computer pretty easily just can't find a stand worth a crap. Would like to kind of build my own stand if I had all of the brackets and base. FikseSTS Report post Posted June 29, 2014 the stand works well, easy to fine tune and adjust, should work will for a 6 monitor setup if you have something to bolt them to on the back side...
