DBK Report post Posted June 17, 2015 Sorry, should have clarified. The vast majority of dealers out there asking for and taking deposits will never actually get a car to deliver. In fact, they've been explicitly warned not to take them.

Camel Toe Juice Report post Posted June 18, 2015 Spoke to a local dealer today, not sure if all the info is valid or not. He said they are made in Canada only 40 will be made this year, 13 will stay in Canada and 27 will come to the states. No set price has been made, his guestimate was from 260- 400k. He said Galpin ford has one listed for 500k (which seems like a complete joke IMO, but there are always suckers). He said only 40 for 2015 Novemebr and another 400+ in 2016. Again info not verified. I personally love the car but no where near the 400k mark, but have to see the quality first. The older ones interior and seats did absolutley nothing for me. They will make ~250 cars a year for the entire world. The first cars will be built in the second half of 2016. They will likely get out about 100-150 in 2016. The cars will be priced with a base MSRP of a little under $400k. *sorry - I should note that it is being constructed in Ontario, so at least he got that right. The rest is just made up. Your best bet is to just not talk to dealers about the car.*

szabo_martin Report post Posted June 18, 2015 The speculative car market is going nuts. When I bought my G there were Ford Gt's for 115K... never ever would have thought they would do what they did. Now they're coming out of the gate at almost half a mill... people will only buy them for the fact that they think the prices will keep going up.... which they may... who knows. Crazy tho... if not for the speculative view I can't see half a mill in that car.

DBK Report post Posted June 18, 2015 If true about construction in Ontario, it could be at the Oakville factory. Very cool. It's being built by Multimatic at a facility in Markham newly constructed specifically for the car.

CHADW Report post Posted June 19, 2015 It's a badass car made even more so by the fact almost none of us that want one will get one. I have no idea how many years they will be made (3?) but I'm willing to bet they will still be an amazing deal at 400k all the way to the end. DBK Report post Posted June 19, 2015 It's an expensive car, but I do think people will see that the price tag would be very different if it wasn't a Ford. All the carbon (tub and complete exterior body panels) are being done by hand at MM, same way they were done by the same people for the AM One-77. It's a truly hand-built, one unit per day car. Prancing horsey on the front and it would be $1 mil+. The V6 kills it for some people, but at least when they say the powerplant is "race derived," no really, the engine in the road car is literally a slightly modified version of the RY 3.5L that won the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring in the DP car. They didn't have an engine program for a 600 hp+ 3.5L, the race engine program WAS the engine program. Performance is also very high. Higher than I think a lot of people are assuming. Ag02M5 Report post Posted June 19, 2015 The V6 kills it for some people I want a super car to sound amazing, not just go like hell. I feel like this is Jag XJ220. I'm sure that it will be a great car and potentially a collector car but I, for one, am a bit disappointed in the engine choice...also the price-point. While it may be 'worth' it, my wife would never let us spend that kind of money on a 'Ford'. I was trying to get on some lists at 250k but at 400k, meh. Fortis Report post Posted June 19, 2015 I personally think it's very cheap, maybe not for the US market but here I'd write a cheque in a heartbeat.

Yeah but XJ220 was a perfect storm of mismanaging the expectations of the original show car and the global supercar market completely imploding. Ford GT is a totally different scenario. Personally, I would have introduced the race car and road car concurrently in an effort to better manage messaging, but the fact is the new GT was built and designed to be a race car first/road car second. GTE-class rules are favorable to efficient smaller displacement turbo motors, so V6 it is. I'd rather it be a nasty variation of the 5.2L, but I'm on board with the rationale at least, the same way I am with silent Audi R18-TDIs. Plus, the car is light as hell. It's a physically enormous car, and it weighs nothing. Much longer, even lower, and wider than the last GT. All that CF you see inside the cabin is literally the actual tub. I stuck my head between the diffuser and bodywork of the race car and there is literally almost nothing in there until you get to the tiny little engine up against the bulkhead. Minus BoP, it'd be a real pain in the ass to race against.

If it sounds close to this in street trim, then I think a lot of people will get over the V6TT.
Ag02M5 Report post Posted June 19, 2015 Yeah that doesn't sound too bad. I think I am just bitter that it was a $150k car and is now $400k...and I can't have one.
emanon Report post Posted June 19, 2015 The V6 kills it for some people, This I just don't understand, people are being super emotional over 6 vs 8 or 10. This V6 is larger displacement than the V8 in the F40, so what, if they made it an 8 cylinder instead of a 6 it would somehow be better? Damn, people are acting like they pulled the 140hp V6 out of a 1993 Taurus. I bet this thing is bat shit crazy.
