  1. You would think they would compete for business. But for some reason they don't have to. They all seem to know that you won't move your accounts because there is no better place to go. I do like local credit unions. It is easier to find a person that can help you when something goes wrong. - Robert
  2. I wish I kept my first car...a '65 Chevy El Camino. It isn't sexy, but my dad built it for me, and he made me sand it for paint even though his best friend owned the body shop. I learned a lot of lessons about earning/deserving things with that car. - Robert
  3. That is exactly what I thought. I used to do stuff like that, but that was a long time ago. I know a lot of street race guys because of my business, and love to watch the vids, but I could never live with myself if I ever did something stupid and hurt an innocent driver or damaged someone's property. I have been telling myself that I will go on one of the big rallies some day, but I don't think I could drive the way they do. - Robert
  4. A friend of mine put together a shoot and invited us to come. There were other cars, but I only took pics of my Pantera and DetroitDetomaso's Diablo. These are not the official shots, just my snapshots. Hopefully, I will get the pro shots soon. I didn't pick the talent, so no need to hate. :-) You can see more shots (and bigger pics) at Model Photoshoot 11-09 - a set on Flickr Here are a few:
  5. I have had my iPhone since the week they launched. Unlike you guys, I have been so happy with it, and it has worked so flawlessly that I haven't traded up for a new one. I wish it would take a crap so I would have a good reason to get a 3GS (although the speed of the 3G will force me to upgrade soon.) Having said that, I agree that going to the Apple Store is probably your best bet. - Robert
  6. I am level 393. I play ten to fifteen minutes a day. I don't fight people, only finish missions and buy property. - Robert
  7. I was looking for an R34 and found one with good mods (although I was looking for stock) for $80K a few months ago. I really want one, but this is exactly the sort of thing I worry about. I know a guy selling his 33 in Canada for $15K. They go for a lot more here, but I don't want to figure out what has to be done to the car in order to get it here. - Robert
  8. Idiot. It just takes one gung ho macho a**hole to get someone shot. They go through mandatory robbery training several times a year at most banks and credit unions, and they are told to be observant to aid in prosecution and to NEVER confront the robber. They are also told that the money is insured, so there is no need to try and save it. - Robert
  9. Nah, it will be a case of your word against his unless there is an arrest report and conviction. Been there, done that. They will not deny him/her unemployment based on a claim of theft, because they know many employers will say anything to avoid their rating getting hit. My two pennies. - Robert
  10. It WAS just discussed, and I think that was, indeed, the consensus. Accountant is always a better person to ask anyway. You never know when an owner is going to say "hells yeah I deduct my whole lease payment and the IRS never says anything" only to found out he is going to get audited NEXT year. - Robert
  11. Anyone know how other organizations handle this sort of thing? Medical license? Law license? Stock brokers, architects, electricians, Mc Donald's managers? - Robert
  12. Great thread. Thanks for brightening my day! - Robert
  13. The party was fun. We need to do it again when Angie gets back to town. You don't mind two parties do you? :-) - Robert
  14. My accountant has me reimburse myself for milage and doesn't even mess with trying to deduct the car because she knows I don't want any gray areas or red flags. We will revisit that when I put graphics on my car for advertising and I start trying to get exposure (magazines, blogs, etc.) for my car to promote the business. I take milage because I actually drive to see clients and vendors. If you are only driving to work and back you are asking for trouble. Disclaimer: I am not an accountant, only repeating the simplified version of what I have been told. I agree with the statement above that you can deduct whatever you want, but it might not pass in an audit. - Robert
  15. She was the world's oldest mom when she had the kids at 66. Now she is dead at 69. I think they are pretty sure that the hormone treatments for her pregnancy caused the cancer that killed her. There is a woman right now trying to have kids at 72. It seams like the height of selfishness to me. - Robert
  16. Looks like those guys had a lot of fun making that. - Robert
  17. Seems like there are plenty of people in line for properties (lien holders, local governments) that will seize the properties before any squatter ever gets it. Right? Do squatters really have these rights in modern society? - Robert
  18. Thank you for sharing. Anyone that cried, like me, should see the movie "Taking Chance". Kevin Bacon plays an officer that volunteers to be an escort for a fallen soldier. It is based on a true story, and reminds us of the importance of every single person that puts themselves in harm's way for the sake of others. I think it was an HBO original film. No politics, no war scenes, just lessons about the respect we owe the people that fight for our way of life. - Robert
  19. My ex-girlfriend put on weight! My wife is thin (and ten years younger). I win! - Robert
  20. I joined Facebook well over a year ago. Used it for ten minutes, decided it was stupid and didn't go back...for a year. I started using it again a few months ago and now find it very useful. I discovered the value of Facebook isn't in the site itself, it is in the people who use it. Eighteen months ago no one I knew was using it, now that is has hit a critical mass with people I like, I think it is great. You only have to publish what you want people to know, and you can "mute" friends that turn out to be rubbish. - Robert
  21. Glad to see this turned out to be simple. Be careful driving back from AZ, we know several people in common that won't go back to AZ because they got pulled. And you can only go to traffic school once every two years (I think). - Robert
  22. Nope, he totally gave it up. We should all be so altruistic. I will try to remember to live up to his example next year. :-) - Robert
  23. There is a slight possibility that he has bad credit, and pays more. Pure speculation. - Robert
