  1. I've never rented from an independent rental agency. Budget Beverly Hills did carry a wide range of luxury cars, including Porsches and Ferrari's. But they stopped several years ago. Avis about the most prestige they have is Maserati's. For national major corporation, only Hertz has what you want. http://hertzdreamcars.com/
  2. I knew about this before this hit the media. I was buying a boat in the U.S., seller didn't want a cashiers check and also wouldn't do a wire, he wanted cash. In the U.S. you must report to customs any amounts over $10,000, either coming or leaving. I was over the limit coming, so I declared the cash. Agents searched my car, with the threat they'd seize the money if they found another penny in the car. The attitude over the cash was like being treated like a criminal. One nicer agent pointed out its stupid to carry even a few hundred in cash in the U.S. I asked why and he explained what the cops can do and have done. This was in the 90's. Now since living in the states, I have U.S bank accounts and carry no more then $100 cash. In Canada, I never carry more then $20. Someone wants cash only, we go to the bank and I give it too them there. I'll never carry large amounts again, especially over the border!
  3. From watching their other auctions, they'll hit the reserve and shortly thereafter the item will be relisted. Oh I believe they are worth saving at a reasonable price.
  4. True. low production numbers when 5 or more are for sale equals a high inventory available!
  5. It was by a fraction of a second. 928 0to60 was 6.9 308 was 6.7, not a whole lot quicker and then the 928S came out. 6.7 seconds was the fastest recorded for a 308, the 928S did it in 5.8 seconds. A 77 308 did it in 8.1 seconds, 6.8 to 7 seconds is typical, which more inline with a 944 over a 928. .
  6. There is 5 on EBay, elsewhere there are more. Not even including Canada and Europe. Of the 10 or so out there all but two have dropped their prices below $400k in the last week.
  7. I believe they'll come down a little, but still be up there. Just lots for sale now. My guess the seller bought these projects cheap. Waited for the overall market to get up there and are now selling them while they are hot. Same seller has a 97 Diablo roadster for sale. It was bid pretty high, guess it didn't meet their reserve. Its now relisted with 2 bids to $100k. Its auctions like this one that makes me suspect shill bidding! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lamborghini-Diablo...em=331549368110
  8. I think his signature accomplishes that!!! I've watched other auctions from this dealer. They always get up there and they don't sell. Hints of shill bidding on most of their auctions. All the retail auctioneers do this when the reserve is not getting met by actual bids. The auctioneer will bid it up to the reserve even if no actual bids. Its called chandelier bidding. I believe the seller is doing this. I don't trust EBay auction though, cause you don't know who's bidding against you. .
  9. Nope. Did say the anni's are around $300k to $380k now days. Lots of inventory now and it will drag down prices a bit. But not back down to those levels.
  10. The only time it was an even match was the late 70's. 1980 to 83 the North American market 308 lost a lot of hp, down to 205. Once the 928S, especially in Euro trim the 928 had almost 50 more HP. In Euro trim Porsche claimed 305 hp for the 928S, when magazine put on the dyno most made 3330hp. I know from personnel experience a 308 any year can't keep up with a 928 of any year. Even more so when its an S, even in North American spec! The 308 compares better with the 944, a 4cyl. that's sad for a V8, even a small one. Ferrari's rep is all race cars on the track. The street cars always fail to deliver in the real world.
  11. I can't prove it, but wouldn't be surprised if they are bidding up their own auctions! On prices, the higher prices have brought a lot out on the market. Maybe not a drop back to a few years ago pricing. But do see sellers adjusting their prices lower lately. Especially on the anni's.
  12. Now the fun part. What kind of powerboat would you consider? So many variables, its like saying Id consider a V8 over a 6. We can go this: http://www.nordhavn.com/brokerage/listings/sally_g/ slow but can go 3,000 miles. So you could easily go down to Mexico from LA. Heck you could go LA to the Caribbean. Plus no hotels, sleep and eat on the boat, etc all the comforts of home. or more fun http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifieds/20...i-s-o60226.html you lose having basically a house on water for speed glorious speed. Lousy range about 400 miles We can find similar of each style to fit almost every budget.
  13. Several other reasons. The main one, I don't like children and teenagers are even worse. I don't need them, nor want one. The only reason for marriage and monogamy is children.
  14. I'm in the anti-monogamy camp!!!!! One Women, no thanks. Tried it twice, doesn't work. I was blessed with decent looks and natural ability to flirt with Women. Skills that shouldn't be wasted on one women! Cars are the same. One car would be boring. We have a Caterham dealer on Vancouver Island. Seen them at the auto show, would love to drive one.
  15. In Eastern Washington State, we have something far worse then scorpions and that's rattle snakes. At least they are easier to spot. We get 4 to 5 per summer around the house.
  16. Wow. Glad she is o.k. My parents had a house in Scottsdale/Paradise Valley Arizona, you know in several years of owning that place, we never saw a scorpion.
  17. I actually still like the 308, and yes I knew they wanted to use a 928 on Magnum. The show knew they would be doing lots of car driving scenes and wanted a bigger sunroof. Porsche wouldn't do a larger sunroof, almost making the 928 a targa. So they changed cars to Ferrari. Porsche just said no to design changes. The 928 comparison is not really apple to oranges, yes smaller engine. Ferrari has always competed with Porsche in some way or another. Even the original 78 928 16v motor made more power then the Ferrari and was faster 0to60 and quarter mile. If Ferrari could they would have added more power and improved the performance they never did. They failed even more miserably with the quattrovalvole. The Ferrari 80's performance is more comparable to the Datsun/Nissan 280ZX or the Toyota Supra then the Porsche 928.
  18. Hard to believe, Lamborghini is only 9years and four months exactly older then me!
  19. It might not be a good race motor, but it was designed as a race motor from the start. I only know a little about the M1, friends Dad had one in the 80's. Its possible but very difficult to get high hp out of a stock non race motor.
  20. He was vaccinated against leptospirosis last year. I do have cattle on my property, so he gets the vaccine yearly. But even with vaccines he could get it. Its possible. Id rather have something treatable over less treatable cancer's at this point.
  21. Yes, you can get high hp out of a 3.8l. The difference is the M1 is basically a detuned race motor, designed to be higher hp. The Ferrari motor isn't and you can't unlock higher hp because it isn't there in that motor. If the 308 had more hp, Ferrari would have done it to compete with the 928.
  22. Its interesting the several anni's on EBay, all but two have dropped their price below $400k. All the higher asking prices did was bring more on the market.
  23. Googled. Thanks. His liver function is better just reducing the protein, a supplement could bring it back. Second blood test this week is all normal with a little induction of an infection in the kidneys.
  24. I keep forgetting I'm on farm rates in BC. I let my neighbor keep cattle on my property and since its in the farm land reserve, I get reduced power and property tax.
