  1. I think that it was J. Geils, although it may have been one of the other guys in the band, that once briefly owned the famous, one-off convertible/targa topped Miura.
  2. You did not mention what part of Manhattan you are looking for space and no doubt the monthly garage fee will vary greatly depending where in the city you are looking. The last time I seriously looked at parking my cars in the city was about a year ago. I found a garage not far me around 96th/WEA that let me park the car myself, but as I vaguely recall had to leave the keys with the garage attendant. I think that the monthly rate was close to $750-also plan to figure in an additional gratuity as well. One can easily find a far cheaper space but I would have reservations about leaving a car with keys that I cared about in a cut rate monthly lot.
  3. I have been in Manhattan for 10 years and still have not found a public Manhattan garage that I would feel comfortable leaving my cars in. Got to remember that almost all public garages here are of the sort where you hand over the car keys to a garage attendant. I know a few guys that park their own cars in a supposedly dedicated spot but that still does not make them immune from damage.
  4. Have her see an OB/GYN to r/o a ruptured luteal cyst.
  5. Thanks for sharing the pix. Interesting to see the one-off Miura Spider at the factory. Anyone know if the factory actually currently owns the car or it is on loan from a private individual?
  6. Who can forget the most famous Countach video of all time on 60 Mins. It was the one that got me into the fold. Morley Safer dead at age 84, a week after retiring.
  7. I saw them as well on the UWS.
  8. I was there last year-totally worth the visit. We did the docent tour. Our guide basically just read from a script and dragged things along over almost 4+ hours. The guides are primarily volunteer retirees and I don't think that they add too much to the experience. The museum can comfortably be seen in 2 1/2 hours without a guide.
  9. As a pathologist I can tell you that there is no kind of cancer that routinely will kill you two days after a diagnosis. Every now and then I do get a case similar to this where a patient is newly diagnosed and then dies a few days later but they are always diagnosed at an end stage. I suspect that Lemmy had a small cell carcinoma that usually kills most patient within 8-12 months.
  10. WIthout knowing much about the mechanical condition of the car in question or if there is any serious rust involved, I can tell you that when I was looking last year at silver '73 S targas in basically 2+ condition (essentially cars that needed zero but were not quite at concours level) that they were actually getting sold for about 150K. The car in your pix is no where near the same level of condition of cars I was looking at but the market has gone up a small amount since the time I was active. Hope that gives you some kind of guidance.
  11. I was in the market last year for the EXACT car that you are referring to. To answer some of your questions, yes, the targas have value, but not as much as a coupe, unless you have a guy that is specifically looking for a targa. The market for the 67-73 cars is still very strong, especially for a numbers matching "S" car, but in my opinion has started to cool down. You still see high auction estimates on these cars but not infrequently they are no sales. If you want to post the asking price, I can give you a better estimate of where the market currently lies.
  12. I imported a 50+ year old car from France to NY a couple of years ago-I suspect importing from Spain is no different. In a nutshell, the entire process took about 2 1/2 months from the time of purchase until it arrived, via boat, to NY. I used Martin Cosdell as the customs broker and was rather disappointed with them-they refused to return phone calls, did not keep me informed on what was happening and generally provided poor service for what they charged. In broad terms, expect the estimate that you are provided to be low by 25% and the whole thing to take 25% longer than what the shipper tells you. Once my car arrived in the US things went smoothly but each state and each DMV has their own quirks that can make/break your whole experience. Good Luck-What kind of car?
  13. The top seller, lot 123-the stainless steel Patek Reference 130, sold today for around 5M, USD. They had some absolutely amazing pieces.
  14. LV Eric, I took your advice last nite and ordered a pair of the Sennheiser IE 80's. Thanks for the recommendations. If anyone is looking for a higher end pair of earbuds to avoid, stay clear of the Bang-Olufsen 3i earphones. I have probably owned a half dozen pairs of the Bang-Olufsen 3i earphones and they have all managed to die within 8-12 months. This seems to be a very consistent complaint with these headphones. The electrical wires used in the headphones are of substandard material and they would consistently short out. B&O used to have decent customer service and replace them when they died but they no longer will exchange them at their retail stores when they go bad and they do not reply to emails/phone calls when problems arise.
  15. As a close friend of the owner of the car, I spoke with him about the incident, and he told me that there was absolutely no damage to his car. He is not much of an web forum kinda guy and he was absolutely shocked at the level of attention that this video has received. He mentioned that he has been saturated by skate boarders that want to FB friends with him, which he found to be quite entertaining.
