  1. If you've ever been in a band - this is pretty funny. Hope its not a repost. http://www.rockandrollconfidential.com/hal....php?dd_keyid=1
  2. Damn fine looking automobile Looking forward to seeing the video!
  3. Ah, the king (or queen) of all passive aggressive moves. No, you cant successfully reverse the roles. In a perfect world she would be able to tell you exactly why she is mad but alas that is not always the case. It has been my experience that most women see life in “color” where most men see things in “black and white”. This was once explained to me that when men see a problem they identify the issue (get your arms around it), isolate the problem, fix it and move on. Whereas women see a problem, bring in other somewhat related issues into the mix then bunch them all together and try to solve them in a sequence that often times makes sense only to them. I don’t know if that is right or not but it has been the case for me. That said, a long time ago I decided I wanted to remain in this relationship (if you are just dating….stop reading now) so I developed the following coping mechanism after much trial and error. Its not perfect, and the episode will have to run its course (have never found a way to shorten the duration), but it seems to work for me with minimal collateral damage. Remember, you are being punished and as Cake has pointed out you probably know why (regardless of whether or not you agree that what you did is a punishable offense) and she must know you feel some pain. I acknowledge that she is not speaking to me with something like “you seem awfully quiet, is something bothering you”….then let it simmer for a while. Then at some point I proclaim “it feels like you are upset with me about something and I’d really like to talk about it”. Then rather than guess as to why she is mad (which sometimes is multiple things she is trying to sort) I wait it out. No reason to incriminate myself on other non-related offenses. The absolute hardest part (and the key to this whole monolog) is to remain calm throughout and don’t return her passive aggressiveness with passive aggressiveness of your own. But also don’t act as if you don’t care because if you want to stay in the relationship you do care. You getting mad or indifferent only escalates the issue. Balance is the key. Eventually she will tell you why she is mad (if she’s an only child it will take twice as long because the silent treatment worked with her parents) and you can proceed to discuss what should have been addressed a few days ago. I do plenty of things that piss off my wife. She does plenty that piss me off. The vast majority of the time we take it all in stride. The only difference is when I reach my boiling point I tell her….when she reaches hers she clams up. Your 50 minutes are up. Good luck.
  4. I have this one too (this is not a pic of mine) - never wear it. Its a cool watch though. Cartier Tank a Vis JumpHour 2554.
  5. Reminds me of a favorite joke....Lock your dog and your wife in the trunk of your car - when you let them out an hour later, which one is happy to see you?
  6. I have a three-burner and love it. Makes a great steak. My only complaint - its three years old and the burner pan and grills are shot. Now, in full disclosure, I grill steaks nearly every time (rather than fish, etc), and peg the thing at like 700 degrees and have gas straight from the house so I tend to keep it on for longer. Its no wonder the burner pan is shot. The grill surface, on the other hand, is a mystery. That said - it was only ~$300 and I just spent $150 for the new parts. When they are shot I will buy another one. PS - I think there is a way to "temper" the burner pan to prevent this but I haven't looked into it yet.
  7. In for the info. Thanks very much for adding this to the forum. I'm very interested. I found out the hard way a few years ago - car would not start post wash It was not easy pushing back into the garage. Since then I actually start the car when I wash the rear end. Silly? Yes. But it starts after I wash it now.
  8. Subscribed - I'm looking for the same thing. Replacing a 911 for a sedan but dont want to give up ALL the fun. Need a more practical car for the 14 month old. Trying to keep it to about $75k. Looking at the E550 (63 exceeds the price point) but might very well wait till the 2014 refresh comes out. My dealer told me the E550 build would be August. The Panamera is a nice car but I'd like 4WD - and the V6 is under powered so need the 4S, which starts at $96k and I just dont want to spend that much for a third car and not sure I want to go out 3 years or so. Just starting the look at Audi - we shall see.
  9. Good luck with that in DSM. I lived there for 5 years and drove a 911. People thought it was a space ship..... No doubt you will be The White Whale to everyone in town! "I saw a ...... Sure you did..... ". Have fun with the G - looks great!
  10. She will be back before you know it. The guys at Studio 47 will take good care of you. Are you having Todd finish with 22PLE? I would definitely recommend. I'm looking forward to seeing the paint - I have a little curb rash on one of my wheels and need it powder coated (not sure if the same guy would do it). Who is Pete by the way - last name or name of his company? S47 used to use Charlie Nestor (I think thats his last name). Matched my color pretty well.
  11. What a great summary on PP. I feel exactly the same way - that said, this is my newest addition. Love the simplicity of look - timeless in my mind. Sorry for the crappy pic.
  12. That. Is. Awesome. If it IS real, the only way you could really wear it is if you were the founder of the firm and made a fortune selling pizzas - and then only to a sales convention. Rather, this is the top prize you would give away for the best franchisee of the year!! But if you made a fortune selling pizzas I guess there are a few other watches you would wear instead.
  13. Thanks Docta . FYI - my special order peddle extensions came in so I'm good to go - finally replaced the home made blocks and 2x4 combo because the nails kept popping out when I would shift..... Thanks! Yes, we should definitely try to get together. Would love to catch up since it sounds like you have been doing a lot more track work!!! All else fails, I think PGH CNC is doing a Feb event. Hope you guys are well.
  14. Thanks for the good wishes guys! Though I must admit I'd rather not have this particular birthday but I guess its better than the alternative. I too am looking forward to the 2013 driving season and do hope to make an event in Columbus. I'll try and attach a few pics - two are from the Spring of 2012 just after a detail by Todd Cooperider (pics by Danny Landoni) and a snap of my son sitting in the drivers seat for the first time - I'm looking forward to putting the baby seat in the car this year (oh how times have changed). See you all in the spring!
  15. I had a '96 993TT in Polar Silver. The blue "tint" gives in a bit of depth vs plain silver. But this is a sweet color - and an "S" to boot. What a very special car. I'm green with envy....or "Jade" with envy (please don't ban me for a poor pun). I thought the last two model years for air cooled TTs was 96 and 97. Guess I'm wrong.
  16. Bummer - I'm headed back to Sydney next month and was going to go visit. Last time I was there the sales guys were great.
  17. I will eventually get rid of the 997 as my DD and its nice to know this is a real alternative. Love the looks. Kind of hate to see it go but with a wife and a 10 month old its useful life (to me) is coming to an end. Still, I will have the Murci as the fun car and now a Cayenne for her DD, so a second more practical DD is likely. The wife likes MB but it sounds like in your opinion this is a much better all-round car.
  18. Well, I guess I spoke a little out of my ass last post. I bought the biggest one they guy had at the shop, which is not the biggest they make. Looked last night and mine is the 8" version. The tree was probably 10-12' tall and pretty full. I've had the stand for about six years and this was the first issue I've had. Its a great stand - I'm sure I scewed up somehow and put it in just a little crooked and thats all it took to fall over.
  19. +1 yeah thats the one to get. We have the exact one - got the biggest they had. My wife loves to get the biggest tree she can find - last year the whole damn thing fell over. Most of the ornaments on the "floor side" broke - but the fcuking stand held tight! December Fail....
  20. Oh, sorry, I remember this thread now. Didn't mean to stir the pot. I'm with you on trying to find one that looks good and has a decent ride - the ML and the Cayenne were all we could settle on. Neither are exactly what we want - good luck.
  21. A little OT, but why do you hate the ML? I (well, my wife) has narrowed "our" search to the Cayenne or the ML and is leading to the ML so would be interested as to why you hate it. We are looking at the 2013 - Pretty sure we would get the V8 rather than V6. Thanks.
  22. Mines not for sale - but I would like to know where they got those floor mats - they match perfectly.
  23. My crisis didn't come with a number (40) so much as it came with a realization: when I kept seeing the same young, atractive, woman in the lobby of where I worked - one day it dawned on me (well hit me over the head like a ton of bricks really) she didn't see me in THAT way. She was looking through me - I was not a possible date. I was, you know, OLD. I had no chance with her. Sweet So I took it as a sign and as an opportunity to rediscover what I wanted out of life. I had worked so long and so hard to achieve many things but lost sight of what was important to me. So I got back into shape - working out is now a lifestyle and not a temporary thing (as we get older we excercise for different reasons). I bought the things that made me happy, like sports cars. Not to show off or because "thats what men do when they hit 40", but rather because I wanted those things for a long time but just never got around to buying them. I made a real effort to reconnect with friends and family; relationships that had gotten stale for lack of effort. When the older generation begin to die you realize "we are they" - its an odd feeling. I'm happy I worked as hard as I did - but I'm also happy that I was able to get a second lease on life. I'll be 50 (eeeek) in January and the past 10 years of my life have been great. I'm now remarried and have an eight month old son and looking forward to the rest of my life! Good luck - you'll figure out whats best for you.
  24. Well, a little OT but this thread and video reminded me why I will never buy another MB. Im in the market for a new SUV - probably within the next two months - going though the research now. The wife wants the ML as a grocery getter and baby mover. She forgets the pain we went through a few years ago - electrical system nightmare - so many problems that the dealership FINALLY agreed to take it back - if I bought a new car (at a discount), to which I agreed. I'm sparing you the gory details..... To add insult to injury they said "dont worry about your last lease payment, we'll make it for you". Yeah.....went to buy a house 18 months later and had ONE blemish on my credit report. What was it? Yep, MB financial said I failed to make the last lease payment. I guess its off to BMW, Audi, and Porsche. Good luck with your situation.
  25. Totally pricing themselves out of the market - at least the market for my money. I've owned four 911s in various configurations, and my current 911C2S is my DD. It may be my last
