  1. Oh the irony... My C4 controller went out two days ago, worked fine in the morning and didn't work when I came home from the office. I have to wait for a guy to come out and replace it or reset and reprogram it. Tried getting it fixed remotely and no dice. That means no video or audio distribution or cleverly timed lighting scenes till it's fixed. Everything in the rack (Cable boxes, DVD players, AppleTV, FireTV, media distribution, whole home audio) is inaccessible. Only thing I can access is the Netflix app built into the TV and frankly I'm kind of sick of watching my wife's favorite show, The Crown. Last night I was about one glass of wine away from tearing it all out. If I have to buy a new controller it'll be about $3,995 for the new model. C'est la vie. May have to consider a tech remodel! Now how much were those Fortis light switches...
  2. Meh. Rookie drivers. Terrible vinyl wrap. will wait for painted version.
  3. FWIW, here is an example of an area in Houston where they tore down some single-family homes on acre+ lots and replaced them a big T drive and laid out townhomes of similar style to what you're thinking. If you drag the map East and South you can see different driveway and plat layouts that might give you ideas. https://www.google.com/maps/@29.808743,-95....33;1e3?hl=en-US
  4. Amazon dots hidden in the ceiling recording your every conversation! The FBI's dream!
  5. Let's put a finer point on it, here's the ballpark costs for the main components of a C4 automation system... $1500 - C4 main controller $500 - C4 software license $7250 - C4 video matrix $350 - C4 balun (need one for each TV) $2500 - C4 multichannel amplifier $750 - C4 subcontroller (yeah you need like 2 or 3 of these spread around too) $200 - C4 remote control (and you'll want, what, 4 or 5 of them right?) $250 - C4 thermostats (today, just buy Ecobee or Nest and be done with it) $700 - C4 garage door controllers and relays (today, just buy Liftmaster and use its own app) $170 - C4 lightswitches (and you'll need, what, 50? 100?) $300 - C4 wireless music bridge $500 - C4 software update every couple of years when you want to upgrade your system $2000 - labor to have a guy program it all $1000 - racks and mounting for all your equipment $400 - fans for your rack So ballpark $30k minimum. Excluding costs of TVs, speakers, and cables for running everything back to the central controller. I think today we have more options that don't require the centralized brain and video distribution, and devices are getting so small they can easily go behind the TV and eliminate the need for centralizing equipment. LG 4k smart TVs have Netflix, Amazon and Hulu etc built in, and 4k AppleTVs are $200, put one behind each TV. etc. Buy better lightswitches like Fortis mentioned that use sensors. Or get Lutron lightswitches with their own app for half the price and no need for a central controller to run it. Use Liftmaster's own app for garage door. Your alarm system will now have its own app, no need to run it through a central controller. Etc. I have C4, I like how integrated my system is, and I'm techy enough to be able to keep it running. But, I'd spend the money differently today if I was doing it all over.
  6. Congrats! Take the top off and fly!
  7. Control 4 and Savant are both worth pricing. To do everything (video distribution, hvac, lights, cameras, door locks, security panel tie in, sprinkler and pool tie in, speakers in ceiling and in-wall) is easily into $70k-$100k plus, inclusive of the costs of the TVs, wall mounts, cable runs, speakers etc. But once they fully spec everything out you can prewire for it all and can pick and choose what you actually do. Basics could be: a central rack that everything is prewired to (instead of the usual method of running all the crap to your kids closet with a tiny ass panel); a main controller in the rack (the brain that runs everything), lights, couple of cameras. Prewire for video distribution but don’t pull trigger (pulling trigger for c4 means a video matrix, an audio matrix, an IO extender, putting all the cable boxes into the rack etc). I would do Ecobee thermostats (which also have wireless thermostats so you can program them to run off actual in-room temperature and not a hallway sensor) which can be tied into c4 with a driver. Get LG smart TVs that have their own Ethernet connection (and allow you to run Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, YouTube right from the Tv instead of going through a roku or an appletv or a DVD player with the app on it). Prewire for several outdoor security cameras but skip it (pulling trigger requires an NVR plus the cost of the cameras. Different prices for analog vs IP). If I could do my smart home stuff over again I’d have done it differently. But I do like it. Just costs a bundle. Check out www dot c4forums dot com for good info. Lots of dealers on there too.
  8. Raj at lambo houston has a glacier white. Raj Magon https://www.lamborghinihouston.com/used-Hou...M14DCA3JW000603 Tyler at excell auto has an elite soros color he was asking $363k for Tyler Gelb https://www.excellauto.com/2018-mclaren-720s-coupe-c-174.htm
  9. Fortunately I sold all of it except 1 bitcoin when it got to $11,420. It's been added to my "buy a fun car" fund. I figure I'll keep 1 bitcoin on a hardware wallet, forget what the password is, and leave my children frustrated one day when it's worth a ton of money again.
  10. Launch edition for at lambo Houston had a deposit on it and fell through. Is available now but I didn’t call for pricing yet. Has a $345k msrp. Higher list prices on du point registry listings. I emailed one place and they were asking $363k for one with a window sticker of $350k. Like you, I’m uncertain. I don’t have a feel for McLaren prices in general, never really followed them in the past.
  11. Buy him out. Tear down the building. Let Fortis put up something new.

  13. that's badass. I didn't know they could do a color like that. time to update your avatar!
  14. Awesome! This is so much better than the Abs thread!
  15. I did an MRI and January and they found all sorts of crap. I was feeling impingement when I benched and a lot of pain doing shoulder presses, and it started hurting when I would reach back to hold the door for someone or to try to smack my kids in the backseat of the car (kidding). MRI result was a full thickness tear in the shoulder, a smaller tear at the bicep anchor, mild interstitial tears. I never would have done the MRI if it hadnt been for a friend having gone through similar "reaching back" pain and having had his own MRI and surgery on it.
  16. I switched to a 5x5 like wheels was talking about and jacked up how much I could lift. And then I promptly tore my rotator cuff and labrum overdoing it on the weight lifting. Have to decide when to have surgery. Going to go back to higher reps and lower weights like the Kris Gethin programs when I am healed up. So between Bitcoin, Abs, and this thread I think we’ve pretty much the keys to life figured out...
  17. I keep heading for a six back but find myself getting diverted by the second or third glass of red wine...
  18. That is a very cool car and site! The search continues!!
  19. I would just like to interject, having owned a spyder and a perf spyder, that you have zero use for a sound system if you switch over to a convertible.
  20. I see that on an Olds delta 88 once and it was a plug for an engine heater. Cold weather car.
  21. Interesting article on the cultural side of the equation: http://www.iflscience.com/policy/switzerla...-shootings/all/
  22. It seems like there are several floating around with some damage that has been repaired. I guess the lack of extensive driver assist led to some bumps and bruises. And those cars and the high mileage ones seem to kick around the $250k range. While the pristine ones seem to sit in the $400ks, albeit unsold.
  23. This one just slipped by: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2006-ford-gt-4/
