Do we write off Schumy....or will he start to inch back?

I think as soon as say yep write him off for this year then he will put in a stonker of a race!

I have not seen anything to back up the times he put in on the first couple of test days which kind of suggest they were going out of their way to run light loads for publicity.

Renault seem to have produced a stonker of an engine that is putting the normally monsterous Merc blonk in the shade.

During the lull between the racesthemedia have print something...

My personal fav being this one

F1 chiefs are apparently considering a switch to 1.5 litre engines in 2013 together with the return of turbochargers, which have not been used since 1988, as a means of enticing currently hesitant sponsors to the sport.

Bernie Ecclestone has warned some European venues will be culled as the F1 chief wants to make way for new races such as New York and Moscow.

http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/248730/

This was quashed a few minutes ago when Bernie said that no race will be dropped next year, 20 races on the calendar

Sebastien Buemi escapes 200mph crash unhurt in Shanghai F1 practice

Wasn't that the new tech revolution?.... The Quick release wheel mechanism?

Think Sebastien couldn't resist testing out the new gadget.

Lol. They are going to start using that pulling into the pits to save time.

Not a great weekend for Buemi even after his clown car impression.

Very good race though.

Every time I see Lewis racing Vettel into and in then out of the pits it does get better and better.

Safe to say RedBull isn't in the Lewis Hamilton Fan club. Seems as though he is faster then Jensen but like Jensen said after the race. "It's not just about being quick. It's about reading conditions." and he seems as though he is one of the better ones at doing so. I feel so bad for Schumacher....Saw him get passed more times in a race then i have in my entire life. Will there be any penalties from that supposedly questionable pit lane incident?

What a race, these things keep getting better and better.

Ferrari need new strategists, how do they keep blowing the weather situation so often?

They're either too cautious, or too bold, this would have never happened in the Brawn/Todd/Schumacher era.

The Quick release wheel mechanism was in its testing stages some years back.

Here's a couple of clips taken by a spectator,....

And rightfully so, IMO.

They were both stupid and wreckless, both as dangerous as each other and both found guilty by the authorities but no action to be taken.

Great to watch them going into the pits like that. Unlike Alonso on Massa, racing, right or wrong talk about dicking on your teammate. The fallout from that is going to be interesting especially when the official line from Ferrari is Massa admitting to slipping on a puddle.

A;though Alonso has been quicker out of the two drivers, prior to this race, Massa was leading the championship so by nearly sticking him into the "Hamilton" gravel trap there would be some serious ramifications.

Also interesting was Rubens having a pop at Lewis earlier in the week for his weaving. Lewis admitted he was wrong. Couple of laps into the race what was Rubens doing to Lewis?

Schumacher who? Especially after that beautiful move by Lewis.

Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey, has emerged as a potential venue for a United States Grand Prix between 2012 and 2016.

Negotiations for a race with a backdrop of the New York skyline are underway, with a city spokeswoman confirming that "preliminary discussions" with F1 officials started three weeks ago. The story emerged after documents obtained by opposition group Friends of Liberty State Park showed plans for a 3.6 mile track within the 1200 acre park providing "the least impact to city functions".

Mayor Jerramiah Healy issued a statement clarifying that Jersey City was approached by Formula One.

"Jersey City is one of several cities they (F1) are pursuing," said mayor Healy. "There have been a few, preliminary conversations and this is very much in the exploratory phase. However, this may not be something that is in the best interest of Jersey City or Liberty State Park."

F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone's London office could not be reached for comment.

It is what F1 needs, the cast of Jersey Shore on the pitwalk.

So day later the Jersey thing was pooh-poohed.

Moanco was a expected, lots of show, no go. Drivers love the place for the precession, fans think of it as procession but Webber rocked it, great drive.

The best bit was on the last corner with Schumacher pulling off a move which exposed a juicy loophole in the rules.

Sadly he is not appealing. Click

Damon Hill is getting hate mail though!

Ooops...

Flavio Briatore's yacht seized over unpaid tax claims

Flavio Briatore, the former Formula One boss, has had his £17 million yacht seized by Italian police, over suspicions he owes up to £3.5 million in unpaid taxes.

Armed officers from Italy's tax police boarded the tycoon's 62 metre long luxury yacht, Force Blue, near Genoa on the Italian Riviera.

Mr Briatore's wife, 28-year-old Wonderbra model Elisabetta Gregoraci, was on board the vessel with their two month old son, Nathan Falco at the time. Mr Briatore, 58, was not reported to have been on board.

The navy blue and white super-yacht is supposed to be available for charter at a cost of 245,000 euros (£213,000) a week in the summer high season, and is registered in the Cayman Islands in order to avoid Italian tax.

Guardia di Finanza investigators suspect it is largely used by Mr Briatore to throw lavish parties for friends and business associates as they cruise around the Mediterranean, and that he could owe up to four million euros (£3.5 million) in unpaid tax.

They also allege that the crew of the converted ice breaker broke the law when they refuelled in European Union waters without paying VAT, which could amount to 800,000 euros (£697,000).

Video footage released by the Italian police showed officers approaching the yacht in high-speed patrol boats and then boarding it.

The film, shot by investigators, found cabins full of designer furniture and sculptures and walls adorned with family photographs.

Police impounded the yacht in the port of La Spezia, pending further investigations into its tax status.

The ocean-going vessel has a crew of 17 and can comfortably accommodate 12 people.

It boasts an outdoor Jacuzzi, an entertainment room with a massive plasma TV screen, a gym, sauna and spa.

The flamboyant multi-millionaire was director of Formula One team Renault until last autumn when he was found guilty by motorsport's governing body, the FIA – and also by an independent investigation conducted by Renault – of ordering driver Nelson Piquet Jnr to crash his car at the Singapore Grand Prix in 2008. He was handed a lifetime ban from the sport, although it was overturned on appeal in January.

Mr Briatore, who has always maintained his innocence, was given 15,000 euros compensation after the French court ruled there were "irregularities" in the FIA's decision. He reached a settlement with the FIA last month and has promised he will play no active role in F1 before the start of 2013.

Last week there was fevered speculation as to his future plans, however, when in his first appearance at a grand prix since his conviction, he turned up in Monaco and had a lunch meeting with Formula One commercial boss Bernie Ecclestone.

Despite coming from a modest background as the son of school teachers in the Italian Alps, Mr Briatore has over the years built up a sprawling business empire, ranging from nightclubs and hotels to fashion and sportswear.

Before getting married to Ms Gregoraci in 2008, he dated a string of TV showgirls and supermodels, from Naomi Campbell to Heidi Klum, with whom he had a daughter, Leni, now four.

In 2007 he masterminded a £14 million takeover of Queens Park Rangers, along with Mr Ecclestone and the steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, Britain's richest man.

His marriage to Ms Gregoraci was attended by 350 guests, among them Italy's prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi.
