Can't imagine how anyone looking for any performance figures would be somehow upset or disappointed in this showing...especially from a notoriously slow magazine that takes its time and provides controlled results...

The aventador out of the box is a fast car. You cant compare the aventador to the turbo s. Turbo s is a boring car to drive nomatter how fast it is, and while the mclaren might be fast who cares. That thing is named after a fax machine and looks like a honda nsx, styling is 10 years dated.

For anyone whos really concerned about numbers i suggest they buy a gtr, send it over to sp for the 1000 package and enjoy running high 9's all day on pump gas.

My only thought to the car's performance prior to these numbers was that I wanted it to suprass the Enzo's figures at all levels.

Not due to the rivalry between the marques, but because that's the technological progress I'd want to see if I were a buyer at that level: Surpass the best-performing of the last round of hypercars (mid-2000s) at half the price.

It's done that.

So the figures are strong to me, actually a bit faster than I expected probably as the 0-200kph mark is pretty amazing.

And I'll say this, it will be a tough assignment for the 599-replacement to surpass those numbers in a dramatic way. With KERS being left on the sideline for that car, along with deliveries of it being at LEAST two years away from today for any non-MULTI-Ferrari owners, I don't see the comparison being valid anyway.

It really has no peer right now or in the immediate future.

I agree, and when the 599 replacement will come lambo will probably have its revised aventador with direct injection and a reworked head ready to fight back.

Im just happy with the direction lambo is taking with its engines. While everybody is switching to forced induction for effeciency lambo are still sticking to sensational na powerplants. Look at the new m5, 63 mercs ,pagani huayra and the mp4 fax machine. Ok we know that turbos are cool and efficient, and really easy to tune with a chip. But they are never as good sounding or fun to drive as na cars.

I appreciate lambo for sticking to its roots and for caring about US the drivers instead of the environmentalists. There might be a turbo lambo comming in the near future, but atleast until then we can enjoy those wonderful na engines before they become extinct.

The weight has to be wrong! Isn't the Aventador somewhere around 1650kg or something? Either that or they have some fat ass journalist driver and passenger in there.

Here are some 12C and GT2 RS comparison numbers from Sport Auto. Blow the doors of an Aventador with a 12C? I think not.

Key metrics are as follows (test car with Pirelli Corsa and CCB brakes):

(GT2 RS stated as benchmark)

NBR: 7.28 (GT2 RS: 7.24) - Doettinger Hoehe 293kph (300kph)

0-100kph: 3.4s (3.5s)

0-200kph: 9.8s (9.8s)

Weight of tested car: 1451kg (1405kg)

Cw: 0.37 (0.35)

CwxA: 0.72 (0.71)

Downforce at 200kph front: 2kg (14kg)

Downforce at 200kph rear: 62kg (35kg)

200-0: 144.2m (126.6m)

Wet handling: 1.38,7 (1.38,7)

A reworked head with direct injection, different cams and a free flowing exhaust falls under "minor modifications" :icon_mrgreen:

But lets not go that far into the future

The Porsche GT2 RS runs on Sport Cups, (sport cups are a little faster than p zero corsa). Anyways, McLaren seems to make a distinction, although the corsa is still considered a semi slick, it has a much more significant "tread" pattern

still hauls

I have $5000 in mods on my GTR and will have no trouble

But I still want one bad.

But who gives a fark for the Datto.....

No one would notice the Datsun when the Aventador is next to it.

It is a stunning car.

Something is definitely off for the weight. I know of a car that was weighed at the airport loaded on the big metal pallet it ships on (which must weigh at least 75Kg or more) and the total weight was 1705kg (3758 lb). Where Auto Motor got their 1831kg weight from I have no idea.

Quattroruote Magazine measured the LP700 Weight: 1870 kg BUT this weight is with 100 kg load (test driver and instruments) and with full gasoline tank so the wet weight (with fluids but no gasoline) is about 1670 kg.

Not much for an AWD with 6,5 liter V12.

ciao
