Barrett 416

That has got to be a kick since it is a bolt action. The semi auto I hear is a massive handful. Man that looks like a fun toy though!

Now as a man I like guns and find them fun to shoot.

but coming from a country where gun prohibition exists, can someone tell me why on earth you would need a gun like that?

Some might ask the same thing about a certain exotic poster car that starts with an L and ends with an I. :icon_mrgreen:

Its legal in Australia and I would guess every other country that allows bolt guns too, though I do know there is a few countries that ban military cartridges and the 416 is a necked down 50 BMG.

I'm sure it's heavy as shit, but there is no way that gun is 70lbs.

Aren't the Barrett M107 around 30lbs?

To quote a movie: I watched him crash a hundred thousand dollar boat because he liked the splash.

In this case, he likes the bang. :icon_mrgreen:

Tony Montana is applauding for your new little friend.

I always have mixed feelings about this military-grade weapons for the US civilians.

Ehhrrr maybe I express myself wrong.

My point is that this weapons, exclusive for militia and law enforcement here in Mexico, are smuggled and used by the wrong people. (Because is off-topic... I´ll stop)

That's not a Barrett 416 as such.

This is an Armalite AR-50A1 chambered in the "Barrett 416" round which was developed initially to get round the California 50BMG ban some years ago : )

The barrel is engraved with the caliber.

Perhaps you would be better served asking "Why not?" instead of "Why?". ;)

I understand what you are saying but...

Pickup trucks are used to commit drive by slayings down there. We should ban them.

Tractor-trailers are used to smuggle drugs across the border to the US. We should probably ban them too.

If I believe Clear and Present Danger baseball bats are used to persuade the truth to come out of those you disagree with. We should ban them for sure!

No... It's cool... You living in Mexico have factual knowledge you can bring to the discussion....

So... To those who question "civilians" owning such guns, let me add this fact to the discussion.

The Barrett 50bmg (this is basically the same gun) has been around 25 years now.

In that time there has been only three crimes committed with one in the US.... And only one person has been shot with one...

People are easily scared by things they don't know, thus try and legislate them out and boost their "warm fuzzies"
