CHADW Report post Posted August 12, 2017 It will be great. The new engine appears to make a good 25hp more than the current RS and rev to 9k, although rated the same. Next RS will be amazing.

LA_Brit Report post Posted August 12, 2017 Bet all the 911R owners are pissed. This one will come with a manual as well. Someone i know just took delivery of his manual and he has both that and the 911r. He said they're totally different driving experiences. I do agree though (and it has already been seen) that the 911 R premiums are down as a result of the manual GT3.

cake Report post Posted August 12, 2017 Will they make a RS version?I would be surprised if they don't make an RS 991.

CHADW Report post Posted August 13, 2017 They are making an RS next. They are also making the GT3 in a Touring model with 6 speed, no wing, and maybe even back seats. That will be tough on R values!

Is the engine that different between the R and the 991.2 GT3? They are both roughly 500hp RWD manual Porsches. Cant imagine that wing makes that much of a difference! capt_chaos Report post Posted August 14, 2017 Porsche have made their name from subtle differences with a nuance here and there, a GTS handles differently to a GT3 so can imagine the R is different again on that.
CHADW Report post Posted August 14, 2017 New GT3 engine actually improved over the R but...R is tuned to be more "fun" with smaller tires, less downforce, suspension tuning, rear wheel steering tuning, etc. As Capt said, Porsche has made their mark with 1000 subtle tweaks. LPDADDY Report post Posted August 19, 2017 Should be a kickass car. As i have said in the past, if i had bought a 911R for 1 million, i would be royally pissed.
LamboNutter Report post Posted August 19, 2017 Should be a kickass car. As i have said in the past, if i had bought a 911R for 1 million, i would be royally pissed. At who? Who's fault is it, that someone paid crazy premiums? Definitely not Porsche. They sold the 911R at a very normal list-price, and are doing the same with the 991.2 GT3. That blame would fully lay at the feet of those making the buying decisions. Porsche never said that the manual would never come back to the GT3, and actually Preuninger said in interviews last year that the next GT3 would be both manual and PDK. People should really do the research before making buying decisions. A bit like those who blindly bought SNAP because everyone else says its good to buy. Everyone should be celebrating that Porsche has listened to what customers want, and have added these options to a production car, rather than only to a limited edition car! capt_chaos Report post Posted August 20, 2017 I think what LPDADDY is saying is if you paid over list for an R then you would be annoyed at yourself. Short term. Long term the value of a gt3 gen 2 versus a R is going to be different. As for this gt3, it is a limited run. Only a few will have a manual box and they are not taken anymore orders here in the UK. I heard they might do a second run of gt3 prior to an RS model but it is certainly limited.

What Cap said , the buyers of the 911R must feel really stupid now. , most of them were speculating anyway and I don't feel sorry for them . I am not upset at Porsche one bit , I just think they should review the VIP program that they put in place when the 918 came out , the one that gives 918 owners first crack at their new limited edition cars . A lot of them are ending up in the hands of speculators and gathering dust in garages , instead of being driven like they are meant to be. I had a good conversation with a Porsche executive about this and I think they are pretty upset about the situation as the program has backfired on them and they cannot wait till it is over , gonna be a while as I believe it is in place for 10years. I inquired about ordering a GT2Rs and I have to wait for the 918 owners to pass on their allocation before I get a commitement , ridiculous but unfortunately the way it is . I will pass if they give me more attitude , there is always a car out there for the right buyer and I will not pay over MSRP for anything
