  1. I'm surprised at how bad the rep is for that generation. There is a guy rolling around in Montreal with a Dinan-exhaust equipped M5 and that V10 sounds to DIE for. I'd get one JUST for the sound.
  2. If we can see it on Google Map as clearly as this, I have the belief the army has already looked at this site with up to date pictures very recently. IMO, it's at the bottom of the ocean somewhere, it will take a long time to find, but we will find it there one day. Still baffled that, in 2014, we have that much difficulties to find a commercial airliner. There should be transponders that are simply on, all the time, no matter what, as long as the plane is running, without the possibility to disable them...seems fairly logical. Absolutely no good reason to disable the transponder of a commercial airline at any point in time, when it is flying.
  3. Heard that sound first hand about 10 years ago...still to this day the nicest sounding car I've heard. It was perfect. WOT, start up, cruising, etc. Just epic.
  4. I dispise the mini-castle look, so those 2 houses are completely unattractive to me. However, GOD DAMN what a location!!! Utah is so beautiful it's not even fair. Might even have to go to Park City next summer for a mountain bike trip. It is a lot of house for the price though, especially in such a beautiful setting.
  5. Have fun buddy! The way I see this, there is very little downside. One year living on a very secluded island with amazing weather can't be that bad. It will look good for the work resume, you'll meet new people, have new assignments. Enjoy life!!
  6. Per miles would be a very interesting comparison for sure. There again, you would probably find out that the average human will travel a lot more miles in a car during a lifetime vs airplane. I know a few people that have taken trips less than 5 times in their lives but they've been driving since they were 16 yo. I would still think, just like you, that airplanes are safer, but the margin is smaller than the first number you quoted, that's all. VCR, very interesting discussion you started. And StoleIt, thanks for providing professional-level information.
  7. Although this is true, you would need to adjust for time spent in each transportation mean to have a more relevant calculation, i.e. the VAST majority of Americans spend a LOT more time in their cars than in airplanes. If you adjust for that, your rate of death is a lot closer from what I remember reading. However, I would NOT be surprised if it was better in airlines, as you are dealing with professionals flying vs idiots driving, maintenance is under a lot more scrutiny, etc.
  8. Looks like it will be Belfort vs Weidman, May-June timeframe. This should be interesting as it's in Vegas...TRT will probably not be allowed for our friend Belfort. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1909268...ce-in-las-vegas
  9. Jon Jones loss would be awkward just prior to his move to HW. He has his hands full for the next year though. Teixeira and then Cormier at some point too. Weidman...let's just say Mr. Belfort now seems hungrier and *couch couch* in better shape than ever...Weidman will have his hands full with him for sure.
  10. I think the donuts in the S class was the best part!! hahaha gotta love a big sedan ripping those tires off! Cool vids buddy.
  11. Yup. As porter said though, his legacy is complete, we'll just have to accept that MJ/Ali/Babe Ruth left the building and hope for another legend to come along in the next decade for us to enjoy.
  12. I think Silva takes it again...he's a superior fighter, he just needs to keep cool and focused, dominate with the kicks and striking at a distance, and not clown around this time. I would not be surprised to see a 3rd or 4th round KO. Extended preview:
  13. Not surprised at all; Canada is probably next.
  14. I'm really liking this car...very impressive.
  15. A bit of context: every summer, for the past 7-8 years or so, a great friend of mine has been hosting, at his parents' beautiful cottage country home a day called KWEW/AAC (a stupid acronym which means: Knowlton Week-End Warriors/Atheltes Association of Canada...yeah i know....it's part of the joke). We started it when we were 22, we are now all around 30 yo or so. Basically we have "sporting" events all day, quizzes, a huge bbq and evening party. The culmination of all this happens late afternoon, when we introduced the "Beerathlon". You have a run (some kind of loop that happens to be about 150 yards), you jump in the pool, get out at the other end, run back to the starting point, and chug a beer. Fastest time wins. My buddy got a big trophy for men and women, and each year, the winner's name is added to it, with his/her time. It is absolutely hilarious, as you have 30-50 people cheering this ridiculous race, with one racer at a time, music blaring and all. People are taking it so seriously and makes it even better. GREAT times. Well a buddy of mine just uped the ante big time for this year. He works in multimedia, so one of his colleagues made this for him: We're planning to release more in the upcoming few months, as some of us do a few films. 2014 will be EPIC.
  16. Founds some tix on stubhub, had a great evening. Killed the Pacers!! Rose was on fire. And thanks for the wishes. Official bday is Saturday the 23rd!
  17. My gf surprised me this morning with a trip to Chicago for my upcoming 30th birthday next week end. She woke me up this morning, had mimosas out and cooked me a nice breakfast at 5:30am. we flew here earlier to Chicago and we thought of going to the Bulls vs Pacers game tomorrow. To the locals, what's the best way to get a decent deal on a pair of tickets. Is Stub Hub the best? Or should I go for last minute scalpers close to the arena? Thanks!
  18. I've met GSP a few times around town and he most definitely looks deceivingly small on t for his actual size in person. He's not huge by any stretch but looks bigger/more powerful in person for sure. Always smiling and very polite, as you'd expect from him.
  19. This car platform came out in 1993. 20 years ago. I think it still looks great, it undeniably still performs awesome when properly modded and can give run for its money to cars with 3-4x the money invested. The fact it can put down almost 1000hp on stock internals (built for 320 hp stock engine) and stock tranny (except upgraded clutch) is pretty impressive... Don't get me wrong, I'd take ak GTT any day of the week before a Supra, but we just have to give credit where credit is due.
  20. Bingo. Do you know anybody with 3 or 6 Gallardos? Yet I'm sure they are a few FGT owners out there with massive collections of FGTs, a la Peak. As you said, combined with the crash, the timeless design, and the fact that the car is just great, period, makes it an instant classic. I'm not really that surprised to see them hold. I tried for months to convince a family friend to buy a stripe-less black FGT when they first came out...he argued for a few thousands of dollars with the dealer for a while...then gave up...mistake.
  21. Congrats buddy!! That's simply awesome. So much for low key cars...
  22. Kaboom. LP strikes again. Will be sending you a PM shortly. An impressive community we have here.
  23. The bike is in Bend, Oregon, if someone is willing to help. I've been here long enough that I know we have trustworthy members.
  24. Long story short, I'm in the market for a mountain bike. Obviously, as Canadians, we get royally screwed by local shops for no other reason than we are in Canada. So I found a lightly used example in the U.S. for the bike I want. Seller is in Oregon, I'm here, will have the bike shipped at an address in Vermont to avoid the duty taxes, and will pick it up there, mountain bike for a day, and bring it back. There is over $1K of difference between local and this bike, so the trouble is worth it (for me anyways). Now...for those of you who have dealt with private parties to buy goods which are not local to you, what kind of precautions have you taken before wiring some money and waiting for the product to arrive? Aside from asking for tons of pictures of the bike, what other ways are you guys suggesting? FYI, I found the bike from an ad in the classified sections of the biggest online forum for mountain biking (pinkbike.com). The member has only registered recently, so always a bit more cautious when that happens. Thanks all.
