  1. Yep, pic was meant to be a clue. :-)
  2. DelMar Nice to see you on here as well as PH. It's an hours work. Pull out the heatshields, untension the belt, as per any serpentine belt. There's a long ally sleeve to remove so you an actually get the belt out; Long bolt on the tensioner frame, remove that, pull out sleeve, remove belt. Be careful not to overtension this bolt on putting it all back together, as you can squash the sleeve, and make the belt run out of line and possibly jump off the pulleys. I had a noisy power steering pump, sounded like an idler or alternator. Got much worse under steering or lifting load. Had started to shred the belt too, due to the load of the partially seized pump. Could be that. I went through several belts before I fixed it. There is a small amount of play in all of the idler pulleys, but no noise when they're spun. See you on PH, or possible at John Rutter's do. Regards
  3. Further update. The 511D part number above has now been superceded by 1K2 945 511 RDW. Still from the local VW dealer, 12GBP over this side of the pond. Same issue above, out one day, couldn't get gears at the lights.... pushed to side of road, and noticed no brake lights. New switch and back in the game. 3 minutes to change, start to finish, including making the tea ! If you look at the various VW forums, there have been lots of issues with the XXX511A-D switches, as they have an over complicated adjusting mechanism, and can be broken by incorrect installation procedure (for a brake light switch!). New switch looks quite different, connector and mounting is identical however.
  4. Del Mar... fancy seeing you here. See you back on PH sometime soon......
  5. You've put the two multiplugs from the top of the engine loom onto the sockets on the left hand inner wing the wrong way round. Ask me how I know. :-)
  6. Just the seatbelt holding the childseat in. If you look closely there are two blue bits that stick out of the seat, the seatbelt hooks behind them, and the childseat won't go anywhere. No other clips used. The warning sticker about childseats says switch the airbag off before fitting a backward facing child seat. Same in all passenger airbag cars. At least Lamborghini give you a key to switch the airbag off. On Euro BMWs you have to buy the BMW car seat which is automatically detected and switches the passenger airbag off. Or put the child in the back.
  7. Here's my boy in the Murci at around 5 months. Took him along to use the parent child spaces at the supermarket !
  8. So, here's how I got it in and out. If you're of a nervous disposition don't look at the photo. No engine crane I had or could find had a long enough jib. At the factory and some other shops I've seen they use a gantry mounted crane to get the motor in and out. I made the below extension arm out of a bit of UB. It all worked fine. The slider made the job of tilting the engine and box to the steep angle for insertion easy, then leveled up to get the mounts in. I see the three hour comment above. It took me about 7 hours to get the thing out, and similar to get it back in. In between a couple of hours to split the engine and box, change the clutch flywheel, etc, and get the starter refurbed. It's such a scam that the dealers (well certainly Owen's in the UK) charge 24 hours labour. The next time I do it, will be less than 7 hours, perhaps not down to three. Also while the motor was out, I refreshed some of the heat shield material on the underside of the tunnel that had perished, and took the oil tank out for repair, as previously the drain plug had been over tightened, and snapped the ally brace, and the swan neck drain fitting had a small crack. A fabricators we use for work did the ally weld in less than 10 minutes, back as good as new. Thanks for the clarification on the bell housing bits, that's such a worthwhile upgrade. My ceilings were 7'6". It was tight, see in the shot below, we had to drop the car off the stands and lower right down on the jack to get clearance. I've since built a bigger garage though. You'd struggle to roll the car with no engine in, mainly as the front diff is hanging down, and the inner CVs are resting on the frame. If you bolted the front diff back in temporarily, the you could roll the chassis.
  9. I'm the other UK white E-Gear owner who changes his own clutches in his garage then..... I didn't know that the 670 pressure plate was different, and the R8 shared some compatible bits...
  10. Great place.... freaked me out when they started a toddlers swimming lesson in the pool. They're all held up by neck floats !...
  11. Very sad to read about. RIP the driver. I can just echo what JohnN says above.
  12. Low brake fluid level also brings that light on. Had this initially with mine. It used to flicker that seems to be when I operated the handbrake, but turned out to be fluid level.
  13. Crikey so how much do Aventadors run too then ?! I was back in Singapore briefly in October, and the valets at KPO were having any excuse to rag the valet parked Aventadors and Porsches around the block (as it's one way there) to get another car out that they'd deliberately blocked in !
  14. I did the same fella, and posted same here. http://www.lambopower.com/forum/lofiversio...php/t70596.html Bought the rear grille, then found out the cameras were $2000. It's not like any other OEM camera, I've looked through Kenwood, VW, Seat, BMW, Honda, Merc etc parts bins and nothing. The odd thing too is that there's no mounting lugs to speak of inside the panel.
  15. Now we have to watch out for ransomware disguised as Windows 10 upgrade install. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/windows-10-free-u...t-email-1513971
  16. Yep, went through this in detail, and as they said, there's no market for a £200K SUV in slight volume, and they want to sell these in volumes to outsell the A & H combined, same model as Pork for the Cayenne> 991+Boxster+Cayman. £140K is all the money for a daily smoker ! At least now I don't have to save anymore for a Huracan and, as my Murcielago has just had it's 10th birthday, I might as well keep it another 10 years. It's built on the same MQC platform as Q7, Cayenne, etc, with bits from the VAG parts bin, the 4.0L V8 petrol from Bentley/new RS6 and the resurrected V10 diesel from the Phaeton/Q7. The panoramic roof looks a little small to be called that. More like a regular sunroof.
  17. Yes it did. Cayenne Diesel S. V8 4.2L 850nm diesel. 35MPG, great great package. Big V8 rumble, sounds like a power boat ! Had it just under two years now and 40K miles.....
  18. Around £130-140K, $220K ish... Similar (slightly more) money to a reasonably spec'd Cayenne Turbo
  19. Me. Just in time for when my 2013 Cayenne will be due for replacement. :-) Silly me.
  20. I did. They have my deposit.
  21. Just had the email saying Urus is confirmed. Order book is open and first models will be available in 2018. I was at the factory earlier in the year and wondered off, saw several Urus' and overview visual of V10 Diesel with 600HP, and V8 with electric turbos/superchargers. Looks like the Audi/Bentley 4L V8. No sign of petrol V10 or V12 mentioned. Probably wasn't meant to see those. I knew then it would be a goer. Stay tuned.... I'm sure there'll be official announcements soon.
  22. Ah, dear boy, yes in an ideal world the above would be implemented everywhere. Sadly it's not even implemented properly everywhere in the network vendors' environments. Let alone getting modern enterprise stuff approved for use in aviation. Even the shuttle is (was) running on a ruggedized AGS+. The Airbus' run on last gen, but very good Alcatel kit. IFE kits are provided as a 3rd party solution, depending on the airline's spec. They will have to hook in somewhere as RD says. I doubt there's a firewall in there anywhere...
  23. It's 'cos you is black innit ?
