  1. I was thinking about trying to photoshop that.... IMO it looks a hell of a lot better with that one change.
  2. Looks great. Replace all that hybrid stuff with a couple of turbos and it's a winner.
  3. Love both the 991 turbo and GT3.... and I'll love them even more if they drop the 997 into my price range sooner.
  4. Looks like an awesome setup. Have you noticed any issues with the components between you and the speakers? I never liked having a coffee table in front of me for serious listening. Does it not make any difference in your setup, or is it just worth a little sacrifice for the convenience? I'd almost forgotten about elevating cables off the floor... I used to have mine like that, but it's not so compatible with dogs. Personally, I think a stereo sounds better with a dog sleeping by your feet anyway.
  5. The window does cause some treble issues, but my speakers have tweeter level adjustments. Switching the rear tweeters off completely and dropping the front tweeters by 0.5 db took care of that well enough. I used to want a dedicated listening room loaded with acoustical treatments, but at this point I'd much rather do the best I can in my living room, where I can enjoy it much more often.
  6. I had a hose burst once when I lived in Phoenix... it looked a lot like that. I wouldn't be surprised if that's all it was.
  7. Audio Aero Capitole MKII Lamm M2.1 Revel Ultima Studio Nordost Frey and Shunyata King Cobra cables The Capitole is an upsampling CD player that has a full complement of digital inputs and an integrated tube preamp. I run that direct to the Lamm amps, and use its digital inputs for computer audio and video sources. The whole system is pretty much unchanged in 7-8 years and I'm still pretty damn happy with it. I do plan on getting the newer Revel Ultima Salon2 sometime, but it just isn't a priority yet. For video I went quite a bit cheaper... I just have an Epson 8350 and a 106" screen that drops down in front of the window. The projector probably has been used more for playing PS3 hockey games than anything else, so I don't really worry too much about anything beyond a reasonable level of quality there. I'm sure there are plenty of serious audiophiles who would never set their systems up in front of a window, but I like having the view. The ability to listen to music and watch thunderstorms off in the distance is easily worth whatever sound quality the window might cost me.
  8. I haven't tried any newer Android phones for more than a few minutes. Android 2.x didn't meet my needs, and the iPhone 4s did. If I reach a point where the iPhone doesn't meet my needs and an Android phone does, I'll switch back in an instant. If Windows Phone is the one that does what I want, I'll use that. Computers and phones are tools, nothing more, nothing less. I really don't care which brand I have as long as it works well.
  9. My first smart phone was the original Droid. It wasn't very good. It was frequently unresponsive, the UI was choppy, and it crashed regularly. I switched to an iPhone 4S which has had none of those problems. The only thing I miss from the Droid is turn by turn navigation, which will be here for the iPhone in 6 days. When it comes to computers, I'm extremely knowledgeable. I build my own hardware and write my own software, and can use a UNIX shell just as efficiently as a Windows desktop. My smart phone choice has nothing to do with my technical ability, it has to do with which one works the best as a telephone. As a long time Linux user, I had high hopes for Android, but it let me down. iOS hasn't. Unless Android brings some game changing feature, I can't see any reason I'd switch back.
  10. Countach: Wing, except LP400 Diablo: Wing Murci: Wingless, except SV Gallardo: Wingless, except SL Aventador: Wingless
  11. I know, I know.... I have about 500 records in the closet and no way to play them right now. Turntables give me sticker shock... The only one I really want is the Brinkmann Balance. It's not just the turntable itself, but everything I need to go with it. Right now I run a CD player direct to the amps and I don't have an equipment rack. Once you add up the rack, preamp, phono preamp, turntable, cables, etc. the price tag starts to get scary. I thought about buying a cheaper turntable and figuring out a way to use it in the system, but it just doesn't seem worth the trouble. I love analog, but I'll take good digital over bad analog any day.
  12. I didn't realize you had a Proceed DAC Fellippe... the first real stereo I ever heard was Magnepan 1.5s and all Proceed electronics. I have such good memories of how that sounded that I'm tempted to pick some of it up one of these days.
  13. I got the hi-fi bug pretty early in life, and mowed enough lawns to buy myself a pair of Magnepans when I was 14. Things have only gotten worse since then. I really am pretty happy with my current system, though I do plan on a few upgrades in the near future. Here's my setup:

  15. It was on NBC, and removed with the next update. They seem to have left it up on tumblr: http://nbcnews.tumblr.com/post/30115698987...n-shooting-near
  16. I take Adderall for ADHD... Overall it makes a huge difference for me, but I'm trying to scale back from using it 100% of the time. I tend to be really sensitive to any sort of medicine, and there's a pretty small dosage range that seems to work well for me. Too little and it puts me to sleep, too much and I'm worse off than if I'd taken nothing. Unfortunately the exact right amount seems to vary from day to day, so it's hard to manage. Since I've gotten back to eating right and exercising, I can usually function reasonably well without the Adderall, so I'd prefer to only use it when I really need it. In the last month I've gone from 20mg a day to 5-10mg and I feel better overall. Also, even though I can usually take it and go straight to sleep if I want to, it seems like the quality of my sleep is lower when I'm taking Adderall than when I don't.
  17. I really want to like it with stripes, but they just look weird when they go over the hood vents... from some angles it makes it look like they were painted wrong or something like that.
  18. And Google thinks their autonomous cars are impressive....
