  1. Partial reason that the C&D numbers *may* be slightly off is that they do (or at least did) correct for atmospheric conditions. I've been to several C&D tests where the numbers produced on the data acquisition equipment are not the numbers that show in the magazines after correction factor.

    Bait and switch?

    A) They make a $66,000 Kia sedan? B ) I'm more interested in the story teased on the right of the clip.
  3. Not gonna lie, pretty much everything about this video makes me want to go hang out in Japan for a while.
  4. By that standard, there's a nearly endless array of substance that are gateway drugs that should lead to the end of the drug rainbow. The line at Starbucks is out the door every morning with people satiating a growing tolerance for and dependance on the effects of caffeine. I've spent a lot of years around hard drugs and drug addicts. In my personal experience, addictive personalities and the nexus between illegal drug dealers of differing substances drives the transition, not nearly as much anything specific to marijuana.
  5. The notion that marijuana is a gateway drug cracks me up. Marijuana is a gateway drug because it is illegal and to purchase it you have to buy it from a DRUG DEALER that sells ILLEGAL DRUGS. No shit, who could have imagined that when people are consistently exposed to dealers engaged in criminal behavior, those people may be exposed to additional profitable illegal goods those dealers wish to sell? I had a root canal last year and got a prescription for Vicodin. Honestly, it's an absolute miracle I don't have a heroin problem at this point.
  6. We've had two members on my website have their cars trashed because idiots with cell phones went over the line trying to record them while driving. One happened just last weekend on a car with significant sentimental value to him and his family (did about $80k in damage), the other had his brand spanking new 458 get drilled by an idiot on an offramp during an overzealous pursuit. Beyond the damage to the cars, they are both lucky nobody was injured or killed. It's just stupid behavior. Everyone says "Oh cry me a river, you bought a Lambo and now you don't want attention." Um, not at all. That's the price of admission with exotic cars and generally most people enjoy sharing cool cars with the public. There's a big difference between snapping a photo or two and following around a guy for 45 minutes trying to multitask with a video camera and driving a car in heavy traffic. Add in some stubborn refusal to get the point that the guy doesn't want you stalking him anymore and weaving in and out of traffic to continue harassing him. Society gets dumber by the day.
  7. Value of the Clips isn't gonna change whether they make the finals or get bounced in the next 5 days. It's already a marquee franchise that the NBA created overnight when they vetoed the original Chris Paul trade to the Lakers. They have two very marketable all-stars in the prime of their careers in the second biggest media market in the country. There will be a bidding war for it. Just for comparison, the Milwaukee Bucks, who have nobody, that play in a small town, that have no arena, that were the worst team in the league this year just sold for $550 million. It's unlikely he gives it up without a fight, which is dumb because he can just take his billion and go be an idiot elsewhere. It was a phenomenal investment, be happy with the return. The NBA must be within its rights based on its Constitution to pursue the termination of his ownership or they wouldn't be doing it. Silver isn't an idiot. Whether or not the comments were public or private, they are public now and Sterling is irreparably damaging the NBA brand with the paying public and sponsors. Yes, it is shitty his private comments were used this way against him, but it is insane idiocy to speak this way in front of what he would likely readily admit is a woman that sucks his old 81 year old balls for the financial benefits. Sterling has never been shy about admitting he's out for sex and happy to shell out cash and prizes to young women for it. That said, I will always respect Sterling for the greatest legal deposition exchange of all-time: Sterling:"Well I fool around sometimes. I do. When a girl seduces me and tells me all of these hot stories and dirty things and tells me how much she wants to suck on me and takes my shoes off and licks my feet and touches me. When I’m in a limousine, she takes all of her clothes off. The Limo driver said “what is going on?” and she started sucking me on the way to Mr. Koon’s house. And I thank her. I thank her for making me feel good.” Lawyer:“Sir, the question was ‘is this your handwriting’?”

    Gumball 3000

Got a friend in print media looking for a 2014 participant to talk to...figured someone here might be going.
  9. Have you actually driven an F12?
  10. The P1 is an amazing machine and I would love to drive one, but pretty much the only good paint job is black. Hides all the awful details. The solid yellow is a mess.
  11. McLaren Performance figures: Acceleration 0-100 kph (62 mph) 3.0 s* 0-200 kph (124 mph) 8.4 s* 0-300 kph (186 mph) 25.4 s* 0-400 m / ¼ mile 10.5 @ 139 mph* Braking 100-0 km/h 30.5 m (100 ft) 200-0 km/h 123 m (404 ft) 300-0 km/h 271 m 889 ft) *standard Pirelli Tires
  12. Agree completely. I think if your benchmark is sales at MSRP and resale, there aren't a lot of companies succeeding. You certainly wouldn't touch something like a Performante anywhere near MSRP anytime in the last several years.
  13. Not a fan of the new front, but I don't like the front of the P1 either. Headlights are cool. I actually like the current car. You don't always want to get out of a clown car. The MP4 is a seriously bad ass car, and dollar for dollar for what you can get them for, it's the performance no brainer of all-time. McLaren just has no idea how to run a consumer car company.
  14. P1 is the real deal. Not exactly great looking, but still absolutely serious performance. I do have a tiny reservation about the glowing reviews simply because the British are so inclined to absolutely blow British cars. That said, it would be a big risk to your reputation if you say it will demolish a 918 and then have it not. It's a great time to have 3 performance cars like the 918/P1/Tralalalala to rail around.
  15. MP4 is quicker, period. Aventador is a sweet car, but it's definitely heavy. If it was full of gas and has even heavier wheels, that's potentially 1000 lbs heavier.
  16. Thanks! Yes! Just kidding, no. Only 1. I run fordgtforum.com and because of that, I know most of the people in the area with Ford GTs. A number of them are keeping their cars at our garage through the winter. Trying to put together a car guy hangout.
  17. I think it's pretty nice, but if I had an LP570 I would't be beating down the door at the dealer to trade in. Once they start pumping out some more aggressive looking performance variants, I think the body style will benefit greatly. Love the name though.
  18. They do, and they've already destroyed a couple. Best part is the Smurf Gang Bang interior.
  19. But you said the lap time was "out there" already if you just inferred from public statements. If that's the truth, then what some McLaren staffer told you is irrelevant. So where are these statements?
  20. Why? If the lap time is "out there" and can be gleaned from inference, unless you're a McLaren employee, what prevents you from saying anything publicly?
  21. I don't know, I'm sure there's a more compelling story to be told about a couple guys in an apartment in Prague that want to know what the P1 ran on the Ring.
  22. I'm always amazed when this type of marketing misadventure is approved by successful corporations.
