  1. Check the ceilings/attick. I always worried about the creepy crawlies climbing into bed from a blanket or comforter touching the floor...then one night as i was reading in bed, I leaned over to grab my glass of water....heard a faint pop on my pillow, looked back around and watch a three inch centipede quickly throw me the finger and then proceed to burrow its way under the sheets...it tried to attack me from above...Sweet dreams!
  2. Blech, those things suck! Only have ever seen one scorp at my house in NM and it was slowly dying from our exterminator juice. Hard to tell which ones are most venomous, but supposedly the smaller the pinchers, the more venemous the species. We get those mean bastard centipedes though...big nasty bastards. I wish we had more wolf spiders around to keep the centipedes at bay. Needless to say I keep my house shoes off the floor and shake out any clothing that's been on the floor...my wife laughs at me but I don't want my toe ripped off by a bastard centipede who thinks its funny to hide in my slipper!

    Apple Watch

Its been a fun time to be alive to see how these Apple products have developed beginning with the iphone. Criticized initially for not having any buttons...who ever heard of a phone without any damn buttons? Now? Then the ipad: Criticized for not having any really useful application that could not be duplicated with a good "smart" phone and a laptop...That thing wont work, I have a smart phone and a laptop if I need a computer. Apple already tried a tablet and it sucked. Hell every tablet that has ever come out has sucked, this is going to be a big flop... Now? It will be interesting to see if the watch can or will do the same thing. Tons of reasons not to have one, but there also seems to be many useful and or fun applications for one as well. Will it have the same tech revolutionary legs as the iphone and ipad? Not sure, but it will be fun to watch!

    Apple Watch

I hope they end up making a true sport model with a polymer type case (vs current sport's case of aluminum). Many sport watches from Garmin, Timex, Polar, Suunto, etc. already go for several hundred dollars depending on the model, and I would think that apple could push into that arena. Also would be nice to have some type of solar cells built within the face/case to alleviate some of the battery concerns. I plan on getting one of the current sport models, but I'll probably end up beating the snot out of it and I hope it will hold up...
  5. Damn that terrible...24 is way to young for anyone. MHaynes -- fight the hell out of it and never give in. You can beat it! Porter -- sorry to hear about the loss of your sister. Didn't expect to visit a thread like this on LP tonight...F Cancer!
  6. Sounds like a great trip! Probably a good thing that you had tire trouble in Flagstaff versus any further east, because you would not have been able to find those tires anywhere else (Maybe Albuquerque) besides Phoenix or Dallas. Great pic of the red rocks...you should see them after it rains!
  7. Im amazed that they didn't start shooting sooner and that the person in the black jacket didnt get killed, especially when he was on top of that officer for so long. Giant clusterfuck...
  8. I read somewhere that they weren't going to allow the fight to be shown in certain casinos? I think those not owned by MGM? I may be wrong though...

    Apple Watch

I messed around with a couple earlier this week. I actually like them better in person than what Ive seen in advertisements. I dont think I'll get one right away, but I do think I'll eventually grab a "sport" model. The interface is pretty slick but it does seem like it can be tricky if you "fat finger" everything like I do. I imagine as the technology gets better they will thin out, similar to how the iphones have thinned out, and I think that will make it an even better product. It feels nice, but I would probably prefer it to be thinner.
  10. Damn, Sorry to hear that. I was sitting in a ER vets office early monday morning(3 AM) with my newfounland Bosco, and I was thinking about this thread and wondering how your little guy was doing. Always sad when they go...
  11. Supposed to be snow in Western NM, Eastern AZ all along i40 from about wed-thursday...will then push east and could Eastern NM/OK Thursday-Frida. You may miss it all if you are waiting until Saturday. You will be about 6-7 hours from Phoenix from ABQ. (Gallup is 4-5 hours from Phoenix depending on route). If you are leaving that late in the afternoon, stay in Albuquerque and finish up the next day...that would be my suggestion. If you are planning on going to Flagstaff and then heading down to Phoenix from there, the only towns between ABQ and Flag are Gallup, Holbrook, and Winslow. None of which are too appealing to stay in.
  12. Damn...I managed to miss this thread for a couple of days and wish I still had overlooked it. Very sad to hear...especially at such a young age...R.I.P. Chimay...
  13. What's that old saying about indicting ham sandwiches? Im surprised there wasn't enough evidence to lead to an indictment...all of those contradictory statements from "bystanders" really backfired...no pun intended...

    So... Ebola...

    So... Ebola...

I'm not getting on a commercial flight anytime soon thats for sure. IF that fcuking virus is now waiting 45 days to rear its ugly head we could be in for a long fight, unless we become more reasonable about trying to isolate the damn thing. I think one of the issues we have over the countries in Africa, is our country's mobility...i.e. people go all over the damn place and so its much more difficult to keep this thing isolated to a few smallish geographical areas. I aint going to Disney world for Christmas this year either! Thanks a lot ebola!
  17. (Either that or the asshat who was banned in Fortis' house thread got pissed and tried to get jiggy with the site!) LOL I quickly realized the ebola thread was my go to site for ebola info and I was going nuts yelling about the new nurse becoming infected to my dogs who were looking at me like "WTF dude?"

    So... Ebola...

The nurse went into his quarantined room several times a day to care for him, in all likely-hood at the point where he is most infectious. I read that when he actually died he was trying to get into another diaper...So apparently this guy was leaking from all of the holes in his body, vomiting, and likely diarrhea that we cant imagine...the nurse and staff have to deal with that several times per day...in a paper suit and some thin latex gloves with a face shield...and as RD pointed out already, without the support of a level 4 lab's procedure to decontaminate after walking out of that room...but then again, he lived with his family and was likely infectious much of the time, and this little bugger is tricky and truth be told (and again as RD pointed out already) we have no idea exactly how this thing is spreading....

    So... Ebola...

And how about those so called "educated" NBC staffers that worked with the infected camera person who broke freakin quarantine? I mean WTF! They bring that shit back to the US and then have the balls to break quarantine?

    So... Ebola...

There is no safe protocol, thats the problem. Whenever the CDC scientists work with this freaking virus, they are in full suits working under a lab hood with pressure vacuums to minimize the chance of this fucker getting out. They can't replicate that in the field and they certainly can't replicate that level of caution to hospital workers with no training in how to handle dangerous pathogens. before this thing, the biggest worry was getting stuck with a dirty HIV or hepatitis laced needle...this is an entirely different ballgame.
