sprite Report post Posted June 16, 2009 http://www.firemartin.com/ http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=7848035&page=1 Complete abuse of power IMO, you don't pull over an ambulance with a patient in it.

Destructo Report post Posted June 16, 2009 Wow what wrong with that cop? A: He's a cop B: He has an inferiority complex (hence why he's a cop) C: Has power and self control issues, which leads to B, then A.
Turbo50Mike Report post Posted June 16, 2009 I can *almost* understand him pulling the ambulance over since it was not driving with its emergency lights or sirens on. BUT - the second he found out there was a patient inside he should have said - "Sorry - Let me escort you to the hospital immediately." For him to stand there like an asshole and argue with the parmedic that should be tending to the patient in the back is beyond disgusting. If I was that womans son, I would have jumped in the drivers seat and driven the fcuking thing to the hospital myself. And what a fcuking bitch the cop is....He's complaining that his 'arms were bruised' during the scuffle with the EMT. fcuking bitch. Lose your job. What if the ambulance was avoiding the use of sirens to not stress the patient out? The cop is like "You failed to yield to a emergency vehicle", the ambulance is a fcuking emergency vehicle too. Turbo50Mike Report post Posted June 16, 2009 What if the ambulance was avoiding the use of sirens to not stress the patient out? The cop is like "You failed to yield to a emergency vehicle", the ambulance is a fcuking emergency vehicle too. It says in the article that they are not required to activate their lights or sirens if it will upset the patient. In this case, they left them off because the sirens would have aggrivated the patients chest pains. And that's fine. Like I said - I can *almost* understand the cop pulling the ambulance over since it did not have its lights/sirens on. But THE SECOND he realized that they had a patient in the back, he should have done the right thing - and that was apologize and get them on their way STAT. Destructo Report post Posted June 16, 2009 What if the ambulance was avoiding the use of sirens to not stress the patient out? The cop is like "You failed to yield to a emergency vehicle", the ambulance is a fcuking emergency vehicle too. That was what the ambulance driver said. The patient was suffering chest pains and it wasn't life threatening, so they didn't want to add stress to the patient with the added noise. gallardo23 Report post Posted June 17, 2009 I seriously hope that cop loses his job. If I was the family I would want some sort of justice. There was only one cop, they should have beat his ass and carried on.

Ryan335 Report post Posted June 17, 2009 That is a true prick... Another example of why people generally don't like cops. Even so, I know good officers out there that do a great job of serving the public.

pockmark Report post Posted June 17, 2009 I was hoping that big dude in the orange shirt was going to beat the trooper down. Cops in general are bad. State troopers are worse. There are good ones in both, but the majority are pricks. What a fcuking asshole. The family should have whooped his ass. NuclearJACK Report post Posted June 17, 2009 Just another example of what not to do when being pulled over. Ambulance didn't have an sirens and doesn't seem to have any lights flashing. ( doubt the flashing lights would be visible inside the back but never been in one so cant say) Cop isn't physic. cant tell if there is a patient or not. Man jumps out of the back and gets in the cops face soon as he gets out of the car. Not a great start. So its not until this point that the cop is even aware that there is a patient in the back. The situation is all ready escalated and based on the tape it seems all parties involved are making the problem worse. After everyone calms down. Trooper vs. EMT: No Charges, Case Dropped http://www.ktul.com/news/stories/0609/629440.html

High majority of cops out there are cowboys, no offense to cowboys worldwide
BLK85 Report post Posted June 17, 2009 There was only one cop, they should have beat his ass and carried on. Im surprised he didnt get his ass beat. I dont know what I would do in this situation if I was part of the family of the patient. But you can bet your ass I would highly consider trying to beat his ass if it was my mother in the ambulance with a life treating condition. 09-LP560 Report post Posted June 17, 2009 I can see both sides of the story have flaws. Here in Canada if an ambulance is in route to the hospital they must drive with lights flashing but if not emergency they can leave siren off. However the cop seems to have over stepped his grounds. You would think that once he found out their was a patient he would have just said his appologies and then went on his way. In watching the full video it looks like he was on a call and probably had a bad day and was looking forward to the call at the gas station when he arrived he was told he was not needed then got pissed and decided to go take it out on the next best thing and that was the ambulance. If you ask me the two are in the service industry and I have never seen this usually it is the complete opposite that they turn a blind eye due to the services they are performing. I guess it isjust like everything else there are always a few asholes to give a bad name to others. There will always be a need for police but I wish they could get rid of these DICKS that have power trips and overstep their boundries. I'll make sure that if I ever travell to Oklahoma that I dont need to get in an ambulance.
jbowling Report post Posted June 17, 2009 That happened locally here. There's still a big deal going on about this. The cop is on paid leave right now and the guy in the ambulance basically wants his job. Apparently the ambulance drivers don't run with lights or sirens unless it's an emergency and the patient needs something the ambulance can't provide. What's not shown and what the cop is claiming is that the driver of the ambulance flipped him off before all this happened. I think the cop got out of hand though and if it was my family being transported, I'd rather them get to the hospital first and take care of their problems there.
