I have had to tell the cops a number of times "it only sounded loud, I was not going fast at all". Looks like you boys had some fun, I almost dropped in on the dealer last Thursday. If you want a good P&S the Sony's are nice, the latest Canon is good, but either the Panasonic Lumix LX5 ($400) or the rebody as the Leica D-Lux 5 ($750) can't get any better.
