Picked up an SL65 AMG Black Series

Picked up the car last weekend; the car is an absolute riot. So much torque going through two tires means that the car is constantly fighting for traction, especially up here in the cold weather. Getting the car sideways is almost an afterthought. The car is very stiffly sprung and rides quite harshly, but man does it look and feel cool going down the road.

There arent many vids on youtube on the 65 BS. If you ever take any, would be awesome to see.

Renntech tune=1000+lb. ft. of torque on that car.

The looks of that in person are off the charts. It literally takes everything a SL stands for and turns it on its head.

Do they make Toyo R888's in that size? Might be a good idea...

I had Toyo R888s on my Renntech SL65, and they were too noisy for that type of car. They did help traction, but I switched them back. On the black series I dont know if the tire noise of the R888s would be tolerable or not.

Thanks for the comments. The car is most certainly an animal, and it looks the part. Yesterday I was doing some work in my garage and had the BS parked side to side with my McLaren, and my eye kept going back to the Benz.

Traction is the one thing the car desperately needs. It might be worth the additional road noise of the R888's in order to be able to use that monstrous torque. As it is now I have to be very selective about when I open the throttle all the way. I was getting wheelspin at 80 mph on the highway. I don't think I will tune the car because I'd say it's crazy enough for what it is.

I remember being at an upscale mall with an outside bar/restaurant area in Boca this time last year. There was a 458, 599 HGTE, 360 spider, a RR Ghost, Bentley CGT, and a bunch of other cars in valet. All of the people who walked by would stop and look at the SL65 BS. My wifes girlfriends were saying as long as the guy who owned that wasnt fat or ugly they would do him. LOL.

The car is beautiful in person, and REALLY has a presence to it

I'm looking forward to slapping a GoPro on the bumper near the exhaust to capture the sound. It's thunderous !

If you did some 60 rolls with what he has in his garage, the youtube hits would be off the charts.
