porter Report post Posted August 5, 2014 That is nuts Chad, glad you're okay. What's the story behind it?
megachad Report post Posted August 5, 2014 Thanks Porter.. The land developer up there has been excavating to build houses.. It's really odd, because they stopped about 2 years ago, and have done wierd things up there. They re-graded the property and added some top soil and then sprayed in that grass seed stuff. Then they laid down sand bags and put some mesh over the top of the ground. I now assume it was to get grass to grow for erosion purposes. The city and developer didn't let any of us know this was going on.. I am frustrated about land values up here now. I just refinanced and If I had any clue this was imminent I would have sold. I overheard someone this morning saying someone brought it to their attention recently and they told the person to shut up about it.. So this is very strange.. We get a lot of water up there and it soaks into the mountain. I would imagine with the developer stiring up the land it created a perfect storm. megachad Report post Posted August 5, 2014 Hahahah.. Chipster I should have snapped a couple for you.. haha. It occurs, but this is a moon crater.. I don't think there has ever been a slide this big in all of utah. It is gigantic.. Pics do not do it justice. It is like an entire mountain side. No doubt it's not creating a ton of appreciation in the neighborhood. Hopefully you are made whole again. Stay safe.

Jpegs13 Report post Posted August 5, 2014 Wow! Question? Do you (or the houses above you), have well water or city water? If it's well water that's a HUGE part of the problem. There is no re-charge system in place to prevent the drawn down.
