emanon Report post Posted October 9, 2017 About to burn my former neighborhood in Southern California. That whole area near the 91/241 is so overgrown it's going nuts right now. The 747 is tied up in NorCal so not sure what heavy jets they have down here right now. That beast was a BIG part of the Redlands fire not pummeling neighborhoods a few weeks ago. MrDoctor Report post Posted October 9, 2017 I'm about 90 miles south and you can't even see the surrounding montains. Smelling smokey over here. I know the fire is huge, strong winds are spreading it. On the other hand, also looks like a normal day lol jk.
djantlive Report post Posted October 11, 2017 The fire is spreading like a hurricane. Over night, the area has a volcanic ash mushroom cloud with smoke that can be smelled over 60 miles from napa. The affected areas are not just rural mountain sides. It is in developed tract homes. Many of my Lambo car friends lost homes and cars. There is no time to even evacuate with their cars. Very sad but at least they are safe.

Assman Report post Posted October 12, 2017 A guy I used to work with who lives in Santa Rosa lost his house to the fires. He was able to get his family and pets out but everything else is gone.
Fabspeed_Motorsport Report post Posted October 12, 2017 Phil from Fabspeed here. My wife and I have already booked a trip out to the area beginning of November including 5 days in Sonoma/Napa area; with no trip insurance. I hope this gets cleared up quickly. Looks like we will be going to drink the wine and not for the scenery. OOO Darn. I do hope that there is no more loss of life out there, it is very sad. No need to lose your life for property. TestShoot Report post Posted December 6, 2017 Now Southern California is on fire The first video on this link is crazy. Stay safe everyone! Supercar Ace helped me move some cars that would have been ticketed for red flag warnings. The Skirball Fire is raining ash on my place. I have been outside all day fixing my sprinklers to wet-down the yard.
Supercar Ace Report post Posted December 7, 2017 Supercar Ace helped me move some cars that would have been ticketed for red flag warnings. The Skirball Fire is raining ash on my place. I have been outside all day fixing my sprinklers to wet-down the yard. Glad I could help It's definitely been smelling like ash all day for the last 2 days. I'm seeing how this Skirball fire swings since it's only 4 miles from my house. I find it odd that it's been cold but these fires popped up...I am hoping they are natural and not man-made. Stay safe folks.

Salt of the earth just bought their dream home, active military. Chris is a pilot. rmtn Report post Posted December 7, 2017 Stay safe people. Looks like Sodoma and Gomorra from that highway video. Obviously wrong place and time to comment on this but... I am thinking that there is very big issue with understanding local ecosystem. Packing a big city on that place with usual high heat and long dry seasons is one thing but where we are wrong is paving all places with hard non water absorbent concrete and stone. And then those famous LA flood tunnels. I think those rare torrential rains should be gathered and absorbed better into environment rather than leading them quicky away, thay would keep moisture into ground. No doubt runoff control is one of the mismanaged aspects of southern california. The coastal commission and other environmental groups think the runoff is absolutely necessary to protect the shoreline environment in the fcuking ocean... seriously. So the idea of building more reservoirs and capturing/percolating the runoff is essentially not up for discussion, despite the fact that it would all but eliminate any drought issues. There isn't a feasible way to have permeable concrete on a high traffic area, the stuff just isn't up to the task of supporting billions of pounds of impact over decades, but A LOT more can be done in other areas. Kinsella, i've got a donation coming for your neighbors. Being semi-local, if there is anything we can do to help don't hesitate to ask.
