  1. Wow! I don't love the looks but the performance is stellar!
  2. Sounds so similar. As an only child of an upper middle-class family, I was raised with very little hardship or the taste of failure. My parents did everything they could to make my path to 'success' easy. I know they did this out of love but it did not give me some of the life experiences (good and bad) that would have made me better prepared to take on big challenges. I also place too much value on material things. What if I had to sell my cars? What if I have to go into my savings? What if? What if! Great things do not happen without risk of falling short. And falling short is only failure if you do not learn from the experience and grow. I made my decision...but I'll have a glass of Scotch anyway!
  3. I am in a similar position as well...been making good money but working for people far less competent. Bumping along as the days and years tick by. So win or lose, I am making a change. I can't die with the regret of taking the easy way out in my career. My biggest challenge is two small kiddos. It sounds like you don't have quite as many responsibilities so now is a great time. My preference would have been to do it sooner. As someone else mentioned...if you are anxious/scared/terrified, you are probably on the right path. The bright shine brighter when the back is against the wall. Also, at one time I tried to start an auto-related business. I am glad it didn't really take off because working on my own cars (or even doing anything related to cars) was the last thing I wanted to do at the end of the day. My personal thought is to always have a hobby of some sort that has little to do with your work...even if you are passionate about your work. The mind and body need a break. My profession is oil/gas software but cars and home improvement are two big hobbies. Best of luck to us both!
  4. I believe there are some places out there that can copy the transponder chip from the old key to new but I'd probably just have the dealer set it up properly.

Just wait, they will come out with a Performante/SV version that looks proper...all marketing here. Initially build a nice but not mind-blowing base car and then keep tweaking it over the years until it is bad ass. They want the early adopters to have a reason to upgrade in a couple years. But I do agree that it is underwhelming.

I found this to provide some interesting insight on North Korea. http://www.businessinsider.com/3-maps-expl...-world-war-ii-2
  7. I need something nice and classy for sales calls.
  8. From what I have seen/heard, the SC install is way more invasive...assuming bolt-on.
  9. Congrats! In for pics. The technocraft are awesome. They have a very light tint...just enough so that they don't draw so much attention as pure clear. Got them for my new G for that reason.
  10. Someone should get one of the tuners like Eurocharged an SV TCU file and they build something better.
  11. Exactly. Sticking to OE tire brand is horse shit.
  12. Some great comments here already. I really like the post from NVRENUF. I will second that the fact that you care and want to be a good dad sounds like you are well on your way already. I'd agree that being there and being present is of utmost importance. And while kids are the world, keep some time for you. They need to know that they are massively important but you don't want them to think the universe revolves around them. Stay positive and even-keeled. We all have good days and bad but I try to keep a crap day at work from spilling over to home. Kids need failure. Of course no one wants to see their child injured or stuggle but shielding them from all issues stunts their ability to solve problems and manage setbacks. I try to think of it as a tightrope walk with a safety net down at the ground. They can fall but I will catch them before there are major/irreversible repercussions. Get on the same page with your wife. Make sure you are consistent with each other so there are no mixed or confusing messages. If junior gets in trouble with mom, he runs to me. I tell him that what mom said goes. I do not undermine her authority and vice versa. Love and affection. We are all about hugs and kisses morning, noon and night. Similar to staying positive...you are what they see and will emulate. The way you talk, what you say, the way you treat others, etc. They pick up on EVERYTHING and from a very very early age. Continue to give them more and more responsibility and empower them to do things on their own. My son has been cleaning his room (most of the time) since before he was 2. He is about to be 3 and was out cutting and piling branches with me this weekend (voluntarily). I even let him do some cutting, with my close supervision.
  13. Might be too late for anyone looking for stickers but I saw a black SV with a light blue factory painted SV. It looked soooooo good. If I was ordering one, I would have to pony up for the painted logo. Before seeing it, I would have gone the sticker route.
  14. Update - I looked at the shop manuals for 08 and LP. For the 08, it says the system is self-bleeding. For the LP, it has a bleeding procedure and says nothing about self-bleeding. Hmm.
  15. Old thread but my exact question. Does the lift system need bleeding once disconnected and what is the procedure. I assume it does as would any closed hydraulic system
  16. Wait, everything is forged carbon but the seats are woven carbon. That is rubbish. I'd at least want it all shitty forged carbon to match.
  17. Performante time or some other time he claimed?
  18. Glickenhouse did. I tend to agree with him that no squeal is suspicious. Tires may be street legal but that doesn't mean they aren't damn near track tires. I think the gains were mostly tire and a little bit of aero...like 80/20.
  19. I just sold my very clean 2 owner Giallo SL with 12k miles, 570 wheels, ccb, full maintenance records for $135k. That also included some quality mods and the original parts. I'd say under 125k for the car you are describing, especially with a 4k mile car going for 130k.
  20. Why does this sound so much like a sales pitch...as in you are getting a hook up to talk about it on here.
  21. After seeing the green car, I think the first shots were photoshopped. The wheels are not as aggressive offset as the original pics. I'd probably stay away from the centerlock wheels unless I was planning to replace.
  22. Wow. Though I miss the extra vents, it looks great. The wheel offsets look pretty aggressive for stock!
  23. I have to wonder what tires were on it to set that record. And how do those compare to the ones that were on the 918?
  24. Yessir. If I am nitpicking, maybe some bigger brakes and probably +1 on wheel size. Your work is amazing as always. Thanks for what you contribute here.
