  1. I just watched this with the sound off. Hilarious! Classical music is "classical" for a reason. Anyone who feels the need to make it "hip" just doesn't get it to begin with, and is a douche bag. In my not-so-humble opinion. You wouldn't want Skrillex to redo the Beatles or Zeppelin with auto-tune and dubstep beats, would you? That being said, I would listen to them play whatever the hell they want if they'd be down for a gangbang afterwards.
  2. I've been working on the olympic lifts for the past few months, usually 2-3 times a week. Best lifts so far: clean & jerk for 285lbs, snatch for 220lbs (bodyweight right around 200lb.) Aiming for 335 C&J and 275 snatch at some point, hopefully by this time next year.
  3. GWU is a popular school for children of diplomats and foreign royalty and oligarchy. There are definitely no shortage of wealthy people in NoVA and Potomac, MD, but I'd wager that most of the cars shown are driven by foreign students preparing to take the reigns of the country or company their parents currently run. (I know that may come off as "hater", but it's actually a pretty accurate description of many GWU students.)
  4. I don't why this is so funny, but it is.
  5. Any buyers in here? Drendel Family Porsche Collection at Auction Personally, I've had an infatuation with the 917/30.... up there with the McLaren F1 or Miura Jota in terms of having an almost mythical quality to them.
  6. Indeed. A very good friend of mine (he's an astrophysicist) is currently down there at McMurdo station doing just that. They actually do most of the work during the extra-long day of summer (3+ months of continuous daylight). I was hoping to visit him, but unfortunately they don't really do much in the way of tourism.
  7. You mean like this? http://www.politicalcompass.org/facebook/p...0&soc=-0.00 The test is inherently flawed, particularly for libertarians, who may agree (or disagree) with several points on a personal basis, but strongly believe that government's action on the matter is not appropriate. Many of the questions are just absurd and worded in a way that force a certain connotation. The very first question is loaded by suggesting that the interests of business are exclusive from the interests of humanity. "The rich are too highly taxed" What about: EVERYONE is too highly taxed. "Because corporations cannot be trusted to protect the environment..." Another great assumption. "It is regrettable that many personal fortunes are made by people who simply manipulate money and contribute nothing to their society." Am I disagreeing that it's regrettable how people make their money? Or that I don't think people manipulate money and contribute nothing to society? "All people have their rights, but it is better for all of us that different sorts of people should keep to their own kind." What the fcuk does this question even mean? "The businessperson and the manufacturer are more important than the writer and the artist." Where's the option for "none are more important than the others?"
  8. The fight took place in DC.... everyone in this fcking town is corrupt.
  9. Ugh, that video brings up some memories I have of traveling through the WVA mountains during snowstorms... few things get the heart racing like driving through a blizzard in the mountains at night, with trucks throwing snow on your car, 10ft visibility, and as much traction as an oiled pig on glass.
  10. This man's philanthropic endeavors are astonishing http://www.theatlanticwire.com/national/20...on-donor/46440/
  11. And it sits In between a 458 Italia and Aventador. V8 -- V10 -- V12 .... that's a nice selection.
  12. I'd love to hear what sort of wisdom Peak (Ray) would offer on this topic.
  13. Ironically, the only program that has ever screwed up my PC beyond repair and caused me to lose a lot of important data, was iTunes. Since then, I've sworn to never buy or use any Apple product ever again.
  14. I love the meaty tire look so much better than the big rim look (might be something to do with my father being a drag racer and bringing me up around the hot rod crowd), and these wheels are some of the best I've seen....... so this setup is perfect IMHO. I think this would look sick as kcuf on a red 570-SL.
  15. Congrats! Always been a fan of Dueseys, especially the Graber cabs and Arlington Torpedo variants.... sleek and classy. Any more details or images you can offer up on yours? Personally, I would love to see a modern take on a Duesenberg, as an American competitor to the upcoming Bugatti Galibier.
  16. The hospital workers, coffee producers, restaurant owners, and IT guys all receive payment in exchange for their duties. These payments enrich their lives and enable their own success. That is, you could make another comic strip that says "Thank you successful businessman for hiring my IT firm/eating at my restaurant/buying my coffee and helping me succeed." If they feel their work is worth more, they can charge more--though possibly risk losing business. The hiring manager doesn't just bring on workers out of the goodness of his heart or "give a chance" to anyone, he receives specific labor and intelligence in exchange for paying a wage to the worker at a rate that he feels balances what the worker contributes to his business-- he can fire his worker or lower their wages, at the risk of losing productivity, if he feels the worker isn't worth it. In such a transaction, the business and worker both benefit-- the business can accomplish more, the worker enriches himself. Assuming these are all exchanges between willing parties, everyone benefits. It's pretty basic economics. Government doesn't grant freedom. Born into a world without government, you'd be as free as possible; the advent of government and a ruling class led to people becoming less free. Does government protect us from threats to our freedom? Sure, and most people are willing to pay for that basic service. But the idea that you should compensate a government for NOT violating freedoms is kind of ridiculous. Should I compensate a burglar for NOT stealing my car? The trouble is, if the premise that one's success is directly attributable to the efforts of others, you could go back in time and make the same argument over and over again, that the worker achieving success can be made to apply to the hospital worker, restaurant owner, IT guy, and business owner... that they all "owe" something to other people before them for their success. Eventually you reach the beginning of the line and then what? To whom does that first person owe his success? The idea that the success of people "just happens" due to the efforts of others is pretty ignorant.
