  1. Hi David - it was nice to meet you. Sorry we didn't stay very long at dinner. As for aggression on the track - YEAH BABY!!!! SERIOUSLY - I was told I was aggressive (by my instructor, and by some on-lookers) IN A GOOD WAY! Just like at my local track - people are given the "rules" and then completely ignore them. At first I waited for a point by - but Pocono is SO WIDE it BEGS you to pass - so that's what I did. I was able to do so safely in the approved passing zones. And even though many were practically coming to a STOP after turn 2 as they entered the infield - I never passed on the inside (even though I could have done so safely) - I didn't want to be black flagged (and never was for any reason). I learned a TON, had a blast, and can't wait to go next year. I started the day in the green group (had never been to Pocono before). Was signed into white by lunch, and signed into blue (highest level non-competition) the second day. Was sorry to see two Ferraris collide the second morning. Most people don't have track insurance so there is a lot at risk. That was the only incident I was aware of. Maybe that's why all the Ferrari drivers were going slower. Have no idea why - but they drove VERY conservatively (creating frustration for those who wanted higher speed).
  2. You parked next to me (balloon white lambo). Met your wife - guess you were at blackjack. Enjoyed the show although the grass was wet/spongy/muddy. Really went for track time @ Pocono. Just got back. AWESOME - AMAZING - FUN !!! Can't wait to go again. Not a lot of pics but will post some tomorrow. WOW. THAT track!!!! THOSE speeds!!! Had an absolute BLAST!!! I'd recommend it to everyone
  3. The hood creases are very evident in white (in person) but may get washed out in some photos. White would be my choice but the new orange is also striking....
  4. Does anyone have "dimished value" language? Our agent doesn't know about it (never heard of it). We are checking with our carrier. I know someone who was paid diminished value (in PA) as part of damage claim - but there is no specific language in his contract.
  5. Congratulations! It's beautiful - LOVE the color! Glad you are in good health - must make it that much sweeter to enjoy
  6. YELLOW Calipers on a pink car????
  7. One correction: GIRO is 6K per car (not per head) but even so it's brilliant. And don't forget, we paid to get ourselves AND our cars there. For many, that brings it to 6K per head. And the ULE - of course they'll get tons of cars for $1500. It's a one day event, and it attracts local cars (most will drive there and back - not fly and ship their car). You can't compare the ULE to GIRO - they are two totally different experiences (a one day track event that attracts LOCAL owners vs. a 5 day driving vacation at changing venues that attracts owners from all over the U.S. and Canada - most of whom traveled a long distance and shipped their car to participate). As for GoldRush - they are expecting 100 cars - but it's open to ANY exotic - not limited to lambos. Can't really compare it to GIRO. Is Lamborghini perfect? No. Is any marque? Don't think so. I'll do GIRO again. It was the people that made it special, and it was a very intimate trip. There was no common thread except the pure passion for lambos, and that was a very cool thing to be a part of. GIRO won't appeal to everyone but that's okay - I liked it just the way it was. Oh - they did give us track performance numbers on the LP700 in the drivers meeting. It'll come out soon enough, and have more meaning when the numbers are 3rd party tested (rather than from lambo). Then everyone can decide whether it's impressive. For me...VERY. Allan - please keep me posted on your future travel plans. I'll adjust accordingly (J/K...LOL )
  8. Happy Birthday!! Enjoy !
  9. Leaving Royal Palms hotel (PHX) June 12...
  10. +1 - I drove it too. ISR is ultra crisp. No stutter at all. Balboni was not there. Front car was race driver champion Richard ???? (sorry - forgot his last name) You could put it into a 4 wheel drift with a heavy foot in the very tight corners, but it correctly easily. The track and tires were EXTREMELY hot so grip was not best but the car still performed exceptionally well and was a blast to drive. Sexy as hell....
  11. Alberto - hope it was a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! buon compleanno!!
  12. Just back from GIRO. A few comments - pics to follow soon.... - thanks JR for posting great pics. wonderful to meet you and the doc - in attendance: 26 privately owned lambos plus 2 dealers plus 6 corporate cars - several of the 26 had been on GIRO before - LP700-4 is GORGEOUS (white is my fav). We also saw black (& orange just unveiled yesterday at track) - LP-700 was FUN FUN FUN to drive @ track. We had a small piece of Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch - it was tight and VERY technical. Had some fun four wheel drifting it in the very tight corners but it was easy to correct and pull back. - the ENTIRE car is new from ground up. ISR clutch is super fast and crisp. Car is quite nimble. - LP700 is like the LP560 on STEROIDS with the sexiest skin EVER (IMO) - to be in the company of lambo loving people, in a gorgeous setting, with some very spirited drives (I mean VERY), great food, drinks.....it was a lovely time. - Last year the count was 18 lambos (don't know how many were dealers) - I'm glad there weren't more- it kept things intimate - it was easy to get to know people - a large group can make that more challenging. - well run and first class trip - we'd do it again as long as the venue is appealing Opposite of "fail" in my book

  14. cake

    MacBook Pro

After many years with a company issued PC - I bought a macbook air. Love it! Can't imagine going back to pc. On rare occasions when I get on hubby's pc it's very frustrating - not nearly as intuitive as the mac
  15. Happy Birthday ! IMO 53 is Fabulous !!!
  16. +! LOVE all of it, especially calipers! Beautiful!

    Cool Cooler

While boating with friends on Memorial Day came across this "riding cooler". Not affiliated - just think it's a fun idea (with some practical applications) I like the story of how the guy came up with the idea. He was at an Indy race and struggling with his cooler - saw everyone else with same problem...here's a vid of the story web site: http://www.cruzincooler.com/index.htm (sorry for bad pics - cell phone @ dusk)
  18. +! I was involved in recruiting/training for several years. My belief: you can train just about any skill. You cannot "train" positive attitude, passion, and strong work ethic. I also agree that you must present yourself with confidence. You need to believe in yourself first, others will follow. Good luck!
  19. Congratulations! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness together.
  20. In total agreement re clearing a jam as part of training - it's essential, and I practice. My personal experience (so far) is that my revolver is more reliable. Also - in my personal experience, the action on many of the pistols takes a fair amount of hand/finger strength and I sometimes have difficulty. This is made worse if my hands are moist (as in sweaty) which could be likely if I were in a real threat situation. If I find a pistol with decent stopping power that doesn't take "man hands" I'd prefer the advantage of 9 rounds over the 5 in my revolver. But again - confidence is key and since they all can jam - I want to carry something I have confidence in. And since I'm assuming self defense will be a short range situation - I should have a decent chance at acquiring my target if I can get a shot off - (or as many as five) which should stop them - so I'm hoping 9+ rounds wouldn't be needed. Obviously if I were in a situation where 5 shots isn't enough I've badly miss-calculated my surroundings cause I hope never to be in that type of circumstance. Also agree that one never knows how you'll respond in a real threat situation, which is why I like crimson trace (MAY be deterrent) I would rather avoid a threat than have to respond - but being prepared is a good thing. Bottom line - practice creates "muscle memory" which is what you gotta have so in a threat situation you respond (as opposed to react). OT: And Hannibal - one correction - I don't race motorcycles (and have no interest at this point). I want to get the bike out for track day cause I understand it's a great way to learn the bike and several folks have recommended it - but that's not a race - it's just a controlled environment where you can hone your skill and learn more about your bike (which is always a good thing). I don't know if I'll like it but I wanna try it. I'm very conservative on my bike and don't know if I'll ever want to go fast on a motorcycle (as in track speeds). But thanks for the compliment
  21. My "daily concealed carry" is a revolver with crimson trace built into the grip. I prefer revolver because they don't jam or fail (almost every one of our pistols has jammed on me at the range (including our sig). Doesn't happen often, but I want 100% assurance it's gonna work when I need it, and I have faith in the revolver. I like the laser because: 1. the red beam alone could be a deterrent 2. under high duress I'll know I'm aimed at my target 3. laser light allows me to hold gun away from my body (for example - arm extended to the side) and still aim correctly. This exposes less of me, cause if my attacker is also armed they'll aim for the light, and if i'm to the side of it - only my hand/arm is exposed (assuming their aim is good) 4. I can turn it off if I don't want it (very easy - switch at bottom of grip) I would expect to use it only at close range so #1 & 2 could come into play. Reason 3 is less likely but in certain circumstances could be an advantage (far fetched for me). For those that say the pistols jam on me cause they're not cleaned or maintained - not in my case. Hubby is rather particular about EVERYTHING, and firearms are broken down and cleaned frequently. Our stuff is maintained (to say the least). It's the main reason we went to over/unders - he got tired of breaking down the semi-auto after every 300-400 rounds (which is WAY overkill but it's what he does).
  22. Congrats on a gorgeous car! Enjoy!
  23. You have a valid point. The white/black is simple/elegant and sleek. I just have a "thing" for contrasting calipers. I agree with LamboGater - white calipers with black lambo script would be the way to go if you want to keep the black/white theme. Either way it's saucy
