I don't think criminals are going through the registration process. Wonder if any of you can help on this one:

Got a Sig 1911 .45acp, Baretta O/U 686, and a GSG 1911 .22.... I know its a small collection but I want to add a 9mm. I like the Baretta FS92 Inox, and the Sig 226, but what do you guys think of the H&K USP 9mm?

Cheers

I like the HK P30 over the USP, much nicer ergonomics. I prefer the Walther PPQ over the HK.

H&K USP series is a great gun from my experiences. Just out of curiosity, why the 9mm? Why not the .40? More stopping power than a 9mm and shouldn't be much larger in size.

An old policeman friend of mine told me an account of how the department moved away from 9mm as they found it took more shots to take down a target. One guy on PCP was ragin, kicking in the windshield of a cruiser and going after officers, it took seven-nine rounds to take him down. Said the first few didn't even phase him.

9mm is cheaper to shoot so I prefer it at the range.

I owned a full size USP 40 and really didn't care for it. LOTS of snap and really just not a pleasure to shoot. You have to remember the USP was designed as an extreme combat pistol, and the original variant has a LONG double action. Nothing wrong with the gun, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. As much as I love HK and their entire ethos - the Sig 226 is one of the finest shooting combat pistols I've ever shot right off the shelf. Dangerously accurate, very low recoil (thanks to all that metal) and extremely comfortable in my hand.

The moment I have the spare change burning a hole in my pocket, I'm getting a 226R.

Go try the new P30 series from HK and also the P2000s. You might find those are more refined and less "rough around the edges" like the USP.

That happens to the big calibers as well: http://www.policeone.com/patrol-issues/art...mmo-on-the-job/

Hmmmm....... NFL getting soft?

I hate the NFL for so many reasons, this doesn't surprise me one bit. The guy makes a compelling argument though, and I like that there are more people out there "calling spades a spade".

I have the Sig 1911 .45acp already so was just wanting a 9mm to round out the collection. The .40's are nice, but it's a similar feel to the .45. The .45 has a nice big hit when you fire, but I kind of like the pop pop of the 9mm, just so smooth. The Sig 226 Elite's seem to look ok. I know guns aren't about looks, but I'm finding that a lot of the new composite handles are looking to orthopedic. I understand comfort, but I wear Italian dress shoes, not rockports, drive a murci not a camri....so... kinda feel the same way about my guns.

Can't go wrong with a Sig 226 elite or consider the tactical operations.

House votes to extend Undetectable Firearms Act. I am surprised the NRA didn’t argue more forcefully against this law. The facts were on their side. Maybe they were afraid that pro-gun legislators were too prone to having misleading ads run against them about how Congressman or Senator so-and-so refused to sign legislation banning undetectable guns…?

From what I have been reading, the House passed just an extension of the status quo, without the modifications Schumer and Co. wanted, however I don't know if the Senate could modify the law to add on said modifications?

Think I found one....the SIG P210...now just gotta find one :)

Now that is a unique gun but totally different than a P226. The P210 is not a tactical gun. It truly is a unique target gun. Extremely accurate stock. I have shot one and very nice target gun. I guess you have to ask yourself what you will be truly using this for?

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/12/05/nypd-...hotguns-rifles/

The New York City Police Department is taking aim at owners of certain shotguns and rifles, telling them all long guns with a five-round or more capacity must be turned in, altered or taken out of town.

An estimated 500 recipients of the notices, which were mailed on Nov. 18, were given the options to surrender their gun, permanently move the gun out of city jurisdiction or employ a licensed gunsmith to modify the weapon to get into compliance with the law. Rifles and shotguns with a capacity of five or more rounds are affected.

An NYPD spokeswoman told FoxNews.com the initiative has been in practice since 2010.

But this year is the first time critics say the notices were so widely dispersed. The notice was first reported on the website TheTruthAboutGuns.com.

"These letters appear to be another example of the Nanny State. Hypothetically, it can start with a letter, and then that can lead to someone knocking on your door saying, 'I want to see your gun.'"

- New York State Assemblyman James Tedisco

New York State has the strictest gun laws in the country. Mayor Michael Bloomberg, co-founder of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, has made it a priority of his to pull illegal handguns off the streets and directly links these guns to violent crimes. But critics say the real problem is illegal handguns in the hands of criminals, not long guns owned by law-abiding citizens.

"We think it's an abuse of power by the NYPD," said Tom King, the president of New York State Rifle & Pistol Association. His organization has fought with the state on various gun bills and spent $400,000 on a lawsuit challenging the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act, or SAFE Act, which was signed in January by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

The SAFE Act was the first law in the nation prompted by the December 2012 killing of 20 first-graders and six educators in Newtown, Conn. Its passage was seen as a victory for gun-control advocates because it expands a ban on military-style weapons, requires mental health professionals to report threats, limits magazines to seven bullets, taxes bullets and creates a registry.

Though these notices were not sent out as a direct result of the SAFE Act, New York State Assemblyman James Tedisco said the new law may embolden city police forces to send out similar letters.

Tedisco, who voted against the SAFE Act, said New York City had the five-round law in the books for about 20 years, but this is the first time he has heard complaints about the notices being sent out to gun owners.

"These letters appear to be another example of the Nanny State," Tedisco said. "Hypothetically, it can start with a letter, and then that can lead to someone knocking on your door saying, 'I want to see your gun.'"

When Cuomo signed the law, he searched for a moderate tone saying, "Common sense can win. You can overpower the extremists with intelligence and with reason and with common sense."

President Obama, who has called for the transformation of U.S. gun laws after recent high-profile shootings at the Washington Navy Yard, said that "the politics are difficult."

The Center for American Progress released a report in April linking states with 'weak' gun laws and a high level of gun violence.

The Second Amendment, says, "A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Gun advocates interpret that to mean individuals have the right to possess guns, while those opposed say the law is antiquated and its misinterpretation puts Americans in danger.

King said the author of these letters misfired when writing the guns could be modified.

"A gun collector who never fired a gun in his life, but has a few antiques might have to get them altered," he said. "These are not the people law enforcement should be targeting."

Think I found one....the SIG P210...now just gotta find one :)

i had a new in box, factory fired only 210-6, I had a shooter too, i think it was the most accurate gun I've ever owned. they released the 210 legend a little while back that's supposed to be a nice shooter as well, for me though nothing beats the old ones.

here's the one I sold

Target shooting ;) haha I figure the 210 should be a good piece to add to the collection

I do not mean "target gun" in a negative way - it is extremely accurate and is an excellent choice for target shooting. Great to add to a collection as well because of it's rarity.

I have to say I love SIGs best. The p229 e2 is perfect in size and has a great feel to it and looks killer w the beavertail. The hk guns are good but blocky plus I just prefer metal. Incidentally the p30 will be hard to find mags/accesories etc for vs a sig.
