F-15E, some sort of mechanical failure. Apparently they recovered both pilots. :icon_thumleft:

Glad the pilots are okay but you know mad-dog Gaddifi will say it is the Western press lying and that he actually shot the plane down just by looking at it then he will throw on some outrageously colour garment, go onto twitter, setup an account and claim to have so many followers Charlie Sheen will have to adopt the phrase “Just getting by”.

You heard it here first yo.

He didn't just look at it capt. He threw some rocks, hard, as it flew by. And Allah delivered those rocks into the engines and knocked the plane down, of course.

where's B2s and f22s, I thought f15 is older than me..

They actually are using B2s, though not offering public confirmation on it (it leaked from low-ranking Air Force support personel who got excited about it yesterday).

F22 is a no go however, aside from possible CAP work, it's apparantly not ready for air-to-ground work yet.

That leaves the F15E as our best high-volume bomb truck at the moment, and it will remain so until the JSF arrives to take over that duty sometime before the end of the decade (hopefully, lol).

We're handing off everything to other NATO forces right now anyway as most of the air-defence threats are neutralized. Time to let others have some fun and test their latest toys (Rafale, Typhoon, etc). :icon_thumleft:

Doubt it. They are raised in extravagance. They never see the side of life that the subjects see...I'm sure they are quickly given explanations in the favor of there parents when and if they witnessed something and by the time something like revolution happens there so wrapped up in the life they have always lived they fight just as hard as the dictator in charge to keep it that way..

I'm not sure if anyone here has seen the documentary "without the king" but it interviews the king, one of his daughters, and opposition of Swaziland. Just listening to the daughter, i just found myself thinking how can you believe what your saying. They are raised the believe certain things, and deny all wrong doing. And the ones who are smart enough to figure out what they are doing is usually wrong, also are greedy enough to want to keep it going.

MoD rejects Gaddafi low-flying aircraft complaint

In a serious blow to Libya's Muammar Gaddafi, the Ministry of Defence has moved to prevent the tyrant whining about low-flying RAF aircraft.

We understand that over the weekend the dictator attempted to complain that Brit flyboys were putting a real downer on his day, but this is what happened when he tried to input the details here

The cunning British plan to relieve the Colonel of his last line of defence was spotted here earlier today. In the face of such tactics, surely the time has come for the man to release his weakening grip on power?

"Gadhafi accepts 'road map' to end conflict"

"Embattled Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, in negotiations with the African Union, has agreed in principal to a deal that would end the conflict in the nation he's ruled for 42 years, South African President Jacob Zuma told reporters Sunday.

Negotiations remained under way Sunday night between Gadhafi and the African Union delegation.

Details of the agreement were not available, though it is believed to include an immediate ceasefire in the nearly two-month long war between Gadhafi's forces and those fighting to unseat him."

Nato strike 'kills Saif al-Arab Gaddafi', Libya says

A Nato air strike in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, has killed the son of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, a government spokesman has said.

Saif al-Arab and three of Col Gaddafi's grandchildren died at their villa in the Bab al-Aziziya compound, he said.

The Libyan leader himself was in the villa at the time, the spokesman said, but was unharmed.

Nato said it had hit a "known command-and-control building" in the area, adding it did not "target individuals".

An alliance spokesman, Lt Gen Charles Bouchard, said "all Nato's targets are military in nature".

He added that he was aware of reports that members of Col Gaddafi's family had been killed, but made no further comment.

"We regret all loss of life, especially the innocent civilians being harmed as a result of the ongoing conflict," said Lt Gen Bouchard.

The BBC's Christian Fraser in Tripoli says that unusually the alliance issued its statement within hours of the strike, well aware of the political implications.

China and Russia within the Security Council have concerns that the alliance has gone beyond the mandate of the UN resolution authorising "all necessary measures" to protect civilians.

But UK Prime Minister David Cameron said Nato's targeting policy was "in line with the UN resolution".

"It is about preventing a loss of civilian life by targeting Gaddafi's war-making machine, so that is obviously tanks and guns, rocket launchers, but also command and control," he told the BBC.

'Direct operation'

Journalists taken to the site of the air strike said the building was extensively damaged and one unexploded bomb remained at the site.

Saif al-Arab, who had a lower profile than his brother Saif al-Islam, had been studying in Germany and returned to Libya recently.

Government spokesman Moussa Ibrahim said: "The attack resulted in the martyrdom of brother Saif al-Arab Muammar Gaddafi, 29 years old, and three of the leader's grandchildren.

"The leader with his wife was there in the house with other friends and relatives. The leader himself is in good health - he wasn't harmed." Col Gaddafi's wife was also unharmed, he said.

"This was a direct operation to assassinate the leader of this country," the spokesman added.

There has been no independent confirmation of the deaths.

Libyan rebels began a campaign in mid-February to end more than four decades of rule by Col Gaddafi. Since last month they have been aided by an international coalition acting on a UN mandate.

Mr Moussa said the attack was against international law.

"How is this helping in the protection of civilians? Mr Saif al-Arab was a civilian, a student," he said. "He was playing and talking to his father and mother and his nieces and nephews and other visitors when he was attacked and killed."

An adopted daughter of Col Gaddafi's was killed in 1986 by a US air strike launched in response to alleged Libyan involvement in a Berlin bombing targeting US military personnel.

"We have again and again declared that we are ready for negotiation, ready for road maps for peace, ready for political transitional periods, ready for elections, ready for a referendum.

"The West does not care to test our statements. They only care to rob us of our freedom, our wealth, which is oil, and our right to decide our future as Libyans."

Gunfire rang out in celebration in the eastern rebel stronghold of Benghazi following the reports that Saif al-Arab Gaddafi had been killed.

Several air strikes against Col Gaddafi's sprawling Bab al-Aziziya compound have been reported recently.

Earlier this week, US Defence Secretary Robert Gates told reporters that Libyan government command and control centres were "legitimate" targets, although he said Nato was not targeting Col Gaddafi directly.

On Saturday, Nato officials said the alliance would not consider talks until government forces stopped attacks on civilians.

The vice-chairman of the rebel Transitional National Council also rejected the offer of negotiations.

He said the Libyan leader had "offered ceasefires only to continue violating basic human rights, international humanitarian law, and the safety and security of Libya and the entire region".

It is interesting how the UN has nothing to say, as Assad continues to butcher his people.

{ UN } zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

No doubt, the UN has a different set of rules, for different countries. If Israel responds to rocket attacks launched from Gaza, at it's own civilian towns, the UN will always show up. It does not matter, that Israel has already withdrawn from 100% of Gaza. The UN will always show it's face and biased approach.

If Assad rolls his tanks over civilians, a word is not heard from the East Side of Manhattan.

It is not new, to witness the hypocritical UN, pick and choose where it will or will not, make a statement or pass a resolution or two. Central African blood, is very cheap.
