Modo Report post Posted October 7, 2013 I never said I don't like kebab I just don't like it when you call it Kabob (I actually mean kebab) (I actually mean kebab) (I actually mean kebab) (I actually mean kebab) (I actually mean kebab) You're accustomed to eating the Lebanese version which is not as good, which is also why its misspelled. Kind of like Brandy, Champagne and Tequila. Only the real thing can be called KAB(o)B. Edit: Capt you MFer... LOL.

AudiBull Report post Posted October 8, 2013 Looks good! I like the kebab'eque. I lost my Sunday kebab motivation after an oyster eating competition (I got 2nd/nothing) and too much booze Saturday night.
BLK85 Report post Posted October 8, 2013 What kind of spices are on these Persian style Kebab's? Kebabs must be different all around the world because in my area here is the style of Kebabs I get/have made. Im always for trying food from other cultures. Yea, those are what we were calling "camping kabobs". Pretty much entirely different - hard for me to explain. Almost like putting steak and skirt steak in the se category - same name, completely different.

Dont just say its apples and oranges, I know that. I love cooking all types of food, I enjoy learning a new style of cooking. Main ingredients are shredded onion, turmeric, ground sumac, saffron, salt and pepper. I add cumin, smoked paprika, garlic, and herbs. You should try it with pork. It's great. Fortis Report post Posted October 8, 2013 Damn Modo that looks good!! You are right about the kebab here, I think it's mostly Lebanese but you know how it is, if you are accustomed to a certain name/spelling it sounds weird if you pronounce it any other way. Lightning Report post Posted October 8, 2013 My twin sister invited my Fiance and I over for dinner this summer. When we arrived, these were just coming off the grill. PS - They were as good as they look.

That koobideh recipe is spot on except no sumac inside the meat, you put that on top when you're ready to eat. The pork thing, well you know my thoughts. Lol. I love cooking all types of food, I enjoy learning a new style of cooking. In Persian cooking the only time I've seen it with veggies is when it's skewered with chunks of lamb, and usually just a small slice of bell pepper and onion. Maybe it was a way to keep the meat moist while over the fire, or to mask some of the gaminess.
TRANSAMERA Report post Posted October 8, 2013 Jirre, I say this out of a place of respect, SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN. Everyone but the Turkish call skewered meat Kabob (I actually mean kebab) (I actually mean kebab). How can you not like shawarma? its like Kabobs lazy cousin. Maybe in the US, but not over here, you know, the place we FOUNDED the Holy Art of KEBAB. Shawarma is ok, just not kebab-good, I think the herbs used in it doesn't mix well with the beef? I will give it another go next time I drive by the place. All this talk about food. I'm thinking shish kafta for lunch now. Dang, that is some good stuff. My mums are out of this world! Believe me I know. A good chunk of my friends are Greek. My next door neigbors do a whole lamb on a spit for Greek Easter every year. Crazy good. The first year they did it another neighbor called the police because he thought they were cooking a dog...idiot. The largest Greek festival in the world outside of Greece is here in Cincinnati every year (Panegyri). I also love all Greek food, but that's off topic. Isn't the greek word for kebab = souvlaki? I think it is? Good stuff overall, but not as good as turkish/lebanese. They worship their tzatziki and garlicbread, which IMO isn't all that good, seems like stuff tourists appreciate. I do however love Ouzu! Ouzu and Raki are good stuff to drink, you get shitfaced asap and you don't even notice it
TRANSAMERA Report post Posted October 8, 2013 I am actually fapping to this. It is NOT a joke. I am and I will continue to do so. Thank you! Changing the name of the thread is an insult to his Mom, or at least his Aunt Bernice. It was the only right thing to do. It simply HAD to be done. TRANSAMERA Report post Posted October 8, 2013 Modo, even though you are totally wrong and uneducated in the art of kebab, I will give you credit for trying to replicate the real thing. What many don't know is that the "meat on a stick" thingy you/we do at home will unfortunately never taste like going to a real kebab place. This because the meat is packed and stacked by hand, seasoned, grilled for a very long period of time etc Even the knife/blade that cuts it makes a difference on how it tastes. A good friend of mine actually has a kebabfactory, I have been there severeal times, the shit is the real deal. I love this shit. I am thinking of opening up kebab tempels and starting a new kebabreligion or something in that order, we have to enlighten the world!
