MrDoctor Report post Posted October 2, 2017 Wow, tons of injuries. Wonder how the hospitals are handling all this. Thoughts and prayers. Terrible.
blylek Report post Posted October 2, 2017 Would the broken windows set off any alarms? Any estimates on the distance that mfer was shooting from to hit people across Las Vegas Blvd and 32 stories up?
Ryan335 Report post Posted October 2, 2017 Any estimates on the distance that mfer was shooting from to hit people across Las Vegas Blvd and 32 stories up? I did a quick hypotenuse on a triangle of height and distance (in feet) to try and come up with the diagonal shot from the 32nd floor. I looked at a Google map for distance approximation from the corner facing the venue so I used 1000 feet. The Mandelay Bay Hotel is listed as 480 feet tall, but I guessed on the 32nd floor height so I used 300 feet for height. Came out with 1,044 feet (~315 meters) on the diagonal to the center of the concrete open area. Maybe that's 50-100 feet give or take since he hit many areas. diabloking Report post Posted October 2, 2017 Im in total schock!!!!!! Thought it might be an ad for an upcoming show at first until reality hit home after a second or two and my mind was just blown !!!!! Condolences to blylek Watch the polititutes start spinning this before the bodies are cold as another propoganda campaign is put together!! Need to focus on victims and their families and surrounding community. Full investigation needed obviously. Review and revise all current access control protocols in Security industry. Must push back against attemps to grab more civil rights and institute more control & surveillance. Again thoughts are with the innocent victims & their families. Unbelievable just unbelievable. Assman Report post Posted October 2, 2017 Looks like our friend's mother was killed/murdered at the concert. He's a great kid (played for our team several years ago) and joined the coaching staff. His mother was awesome...beat cancer last year only to be cutdown by some giant asshole from a 32nd story window shooting into a crowd... This is horrible. A friend of some of ours was there with his wife. He saw a guy standing feet from him hit in the chest. I just got news that a local doctor and his wife were badly hit and are in critical condition. Supercar Ace Report post Posted October 2, 2017 I'm not a guru on guns, but if there was enough sustained smoke due to all those shots and the smoke didn't dissipate so quickly, then it's realistic for it to set off the smoke detector. Just think about false alarms from the kitchen and if heavy gunfire could simulate that. If that indeed happened, the rest is easy to pinpoint very fast from the fire alarm control panel. Probably some delay mentally to make the mental association between the shooting and that smoke alarm condition being the location of the active shooter. The building alarms should not go off, just the sounder base on the detector. He probably wouldn't have realized he outed himself. After running my shower for about 2 minutes, if the door is left open, it'll set my smoke alarm off in the next room if I don't have the door closed. Very sensitive, and I can't imagine the temperature of the condensation moving over is all that hot moving to the next room. Takes virtually nothing to set it off. So I don't doubt that particulates could set one off. A lot of smoke detectors these days go off of particulates. Where I work we have a VESDA (Very early smoke detection alarm), and it goes off particulates. We don't even allow cardboard inside the secure rooms because kicking up dust and getting particulates in the air can set it off. Sealed rooms, dust free, with gargantuan, very fine bag filters. So depending on the type of alarm, if an early warning system, it could set it off. Gunshots definitely set off smoke detectors. They would have been going off after the tenth round or so. He fired thousands of rounds. All good info, certainly learned something new today. I am very curious as to what the full investigation will reveal. Roman Report post Posted October 2, 2017 He got off that many volleys? He fired from 5 to 15 minutes. With very few stops to switch guns /let the barrels cool down. I still think from what I heard that a belt fed thirty cal was involved. That “sewing machine” sound is the giveaway. The ars and aks just spray bullets at a much faster rate. Brrrrrrr. Instead of bump bump bump bump bump..... Plus. They run out fast. A thirty round mag goes in a few seconds. Maybe he had some drum mags. But they are notoriously shitty and jam constantly. He had belts. With hundreds of rounds.

kinnsella Report post Posted October 2, 2017 Rarely agree with Trump. It was an act of pure evil. They have recovered 34 guns between Mesquite and the Casino. The fucker rented a 2 bedroom suite so he could set a kill zone with 2 firing locations. Reporting I am seeing says the guns were tripod mounted. Rip to the dead and best wishes to the survivors for a speedy recovery. As of now 527 injured, 59 dead. Something has got to change - Sandy Hook, Pulse, Colombine and the endless list of other examples. These psychopaths are engaged in a game of one upmanship. And before you pile on, I am a gun owner. And before you pile on, I am a gun owner. holy crap. Yeah something tells me he "didn't just snap", because acquiring that many isn't something you do overnight, nor plan on renting a 2 bedroom suite, or accumulating that much ammo, or taking the time to smuggle that into your room to the point no one notices or suspects, and then waiting for an event like that. This was most certainly planned. I have a feeling his family probably knows something based on how odd his brother acted about it and don't want to get involved. However, I'll wait for the investigation to finish and for the official release stuff to come before I stick too hard to any assumptions. Still, the amount of life lost, those who will never be the same, and those injured, is just unfathomable.

emanon Report post Posted October 3, 2017 One thing to keep in mind re: how did he get all this hardware into the room without suspicion. Vegas is the #1 tradeshow location in the country. Sales reps and business people cart in hundreds of pounds of crazy gear on literally a daily basis. He could have rolled a trio of pelican cases into the lobby, handed them to the bell hop along with a $20, and they would have delivered them to his room. IMO nobody had a reason to be tipped off or suspicious, it's all business as usual.

That said I am sure there are ambulance chasers in all the hospitals right now gathering clients to sue Mandalay Bay. The only actor with the insurance to cover losses. emanon Report post Posted October 3, 2017 Trust me, too much money to made....insurance will settle. You're probably right, not a fight they want. Im assuming MGM just wants this to go away and will throw huge $$$ at it, even if insurance doesn't want to pay.
Destructo Report post Posted October 3, 2017 The more i read and see, the more upset i get. I do however find comfort in the stories that will come out about people helping each other, strangers, and helping however they can. That's the take away. That's our country, those are our people. Not some asshole who shot up a concert.
Destructo Report post Posted October 3, 2017 I'm seeing quite a few people speculate it was a hand-crank system, rather than a belt fed. Specifically due to the change in rate of fire in some of the videos. Thoughts?
