  4. The wire that engauges the a/c clutch is hot. It it grounding on anything?
  5. I remember on my 91, there was a 2-3 volt difference between what the dash gauge read and what was the true voltage of the system. I chased my tail a while on this. The battery voltage with the engine running was 14.4 (perfect) but in the cabin everything measured 12.9 - 13.2 like the cig lighter, stereo amplifier, etc etc. A full volt drop. (using a hand held volt meter) I did send out my alternator to http://www.alterstart.biz/ and they increased the output by almost 50 amps. It helped somewhat. I also noticed that the positive cable went from the battery to a weird junction mounted to the driver's side of the frame about 20 inches down the cable. It looked like a huge fuseable link or maybe it was a break away point in case of an accident. Again it was the positive cable. Not a ground point. I ended up removing the cables from this point and made my own 250 amp fuse link. That fixed the actual drop in the cabin. To fix the gauge, I disassembled the cluster and saw that the voltage gauge was the last in line to receive power. I made a supplement harness that evenly distributed power in parallel with thicker gauge wire. Not ony did the voltage gauge now read correctly, the temp gauge was more accurate also. The temp gauge would read hotter with low voltage. Have you ever noticed that on old D's the temp gauge would slightly move when the turn signals were flashing? I realize this post makes me sound like a "hack". In my defense, my 91 was a project when I bought it. It was a driver car. Not a show queen. I had no fear tearing in to it and making real world improvements not worring about keeping it show room perfect. I have a strong backgound on building hot rods, customs, and wild stereos. I am not here to diagnose your D, but I thought some of my experiences would help. I don't encourage any one to make the modifications that I did. They were not stock and I am very comfortable with my automotive background.
  6. "Never has been told a great story than began with........Here, hold my salad"
  7. Do you remeber that Fiat 500 commercial where the guy gets busted checking out the hot brunette? She slaps him around a little bit, gets your heart racing! I was hoping for that! Instead I had a nice lunch with my Aunt Beatrice. And I still had to pick up the tab
  8. I test drove a 2008 Maserati granturismo a few weeks ago. It had a matte black wrap on it and 22's. Kinda pimp but I liked it. It did not have the sports car feel that I was expecting. When in the drivers seat I felt like I was sitting much higher as in a normal sedan. The ride was quiet and smooth especially for 22's The engine was very quiet until you hammered it. Not much torque. The car really didn't pull under 4,000 rpm. Once it spun up, it screamed nicely. I almost felt like there was a unwritten rule that I needed to be at least 50 years old to own it. Lasting impression? I just couldn't see spending $65k for "meh"
  9. When they tried to interview a couple of the other boys... Heywood Jablome and Hugh G. Rection They refused to comment claiming they had been issed a "gag order"
  10. It looks like the media might have accidentally leaked the 16 yo B-day boy's name out. In a recovered document the name listed is..... Stephen McCokkener.
  11. No experience first hand, but there is always this guy. Very much my style http://www.vulturekulture.com/
  12. Although Tory's portfollio does not show much in the way of garages, he is AMAZING! Aside from home interiors, He has done everything to cars, custom furniture, to recording studios. Resonable prices too. http://www.awexpressions.com/
  13. I too am really surprised. I was involved with a similar competition build with the Tundra when it first came out a few years ago. It's tough to know what exactly the voters are looking for at moment in time. I thought your entry would have wrapped it up since it was so unique. Go figure. We did take 1st with our build. Luckily I knew exactly what the point system looked like for the judging.
  14. Know your credit rating before you walk in. Have preapprovals in hand if you are intending to finance. Know exactly what your trade is worth. Never tell them how many dealers you have/have not been too already. It really can change the conversation since 80% of people do not buy from the first dealer they visit.
  15. ^^^^^ All too complicated. Buy cheap champagne Remove plastic cork Insert Shake vigorously Remove quickly Stand back!

  17. Very cool!! I'll bet the 0-60 is less than 3 seconds. Probably on 2 wheels no less LOL
  18. I "knew" a guy in AZ that did it to his Diablo. It was 50% and had to pay the tint company cash (no receipt was given) At a glance most people really didn't notice that you could barely make out the steering wheel when walking by the car. "He said" the only real issue was driving where the road was lacking street light. Made a positve driving experience during the day though. Much cooler inside during the summer. Not that I would know though
  19. On my old Diablo wheel, it was leaking at the point where the rim bolted together (since it is a 3pc wheel). Any good tire/wheel shop will know what to do. They went out of their way to thank me for not using tire slime. It makes the a tire replacement a bigger issue in the long run. For the Phoenix guys, East Valley Imports has the best customer service I have ever experienced. They are near Sky Harbor http://www.rim1.com/contacts.html
