  1. Car stuff you'll see plenty of cars in the valet parking section/parking garage at the two main malls - Dubai Mall, and Mall of the Emirates. Dubai Mall is at the base of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. They have a water fountain show in the evening synced to music at the base of the building. The top of the building is pretty nice to see esp if you can see the sunset (buy tickets in advance to speed through the lines a bit). If you've never been up high of the Freedom Tower or Willis Tower, it would definitely be worth it, otherwise it's just another very high look out point - our depth perception is pretty poor at distinguishing extra height in tall buildings or skydiving which can be a good or bad thing, haha.... Dubai Mall has a nice aquarium inside, while Mall of the Emirates has the indoor ski slope, as far as exploring the novelty aspects of Dubai. While both malls have good shopping, Mall of the Emirates has every single high end boutique brand known to man, and all in close proximity to each other. The Lamborghini dealership is a sight to see from the train/E11 highway, it will be on your right as you go south, not far from the Mall of the Emirates. It's what a dream dealership would look like, so tall and airy looking. As far as where to stay, Dubai Marina/Jumeirah Beach is pretty sweet. It's a little further south of the action but IMO nicer than the other parts you could stay at. I stayed at Sofitel in Jumeirah Beach a few weeks ago and really liked it. Saw a few Lambos passing the hotel each night, and the vibe/temperature is just right in the evening. Car stuff - there's the Dubai Autodrome not too far from Jumeirah. It's a race track where you can do some fun track stuff and even some drifting if you like: https://www.dubaiautodrome.com/experiences/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-ZD99Nuq3wIVArYYCh22gQDREAAYASAAEgKlmfD_BwE I did a few days of drift training about an hour north of the airport, an excellent school if you have the time/desire (same company that does the drift experiences at the Autodrome): http://prodriftacademy.me/ There are hotels nearby the drift school on Marjan Island which would be nice and convenient if you wanted to spend more than a day doing that. With regards to Ferrari World, that's in Abu Dhabi which is about 2 hours south of Dubai. I didn't go to Ferrari World but a friend did recently and liked it. It's very close to Yas Marina F1 race track which has track stuff you can do as well. Lastly, as far as SIMs go, there is Du and Etisalat....I've had better luck using Du for my phone/data needs. Dubai is a bit plasticky like Vegas, but it's cool in its own right and everyone should see it at least once!
  2. I figured the modernization had a lot to do with it. I remember it as a kid vividly but it never took off. Also, RWS seems more suitable for AWD cars than RWD since it's a bit unnatural for sustained powersliding/drifting.
  3. It won't feel as fast as it actually is.
  4. Ferrari engineers tuned the turbos to limit boost in every gear but 7th to simulate a naturally aspirated power plant.
  5. Fire flow for firefighting hose lines or sprinklers?
  6. The all concrete Fortis style homes is a good look moving forward.
  7. Finally got to see it.....solid. Great to close the end credits with "The Show Must Go On", fitting song.
  8. Classless. Hopefully enough liberal Stan Lee fans are aware of Maher's comments, to shun him.
  9. 488, boring? Allan, you've been spending a lot of time with old school cars lately.
  10. You should be able to get around the local water supply requirements by installing your own water storage tank(s) if you're so dedicated. Completely isolated system.
  11. Damn Griza those videos were scary.
  12. Just one horse? I saw a video on FB that Allan posted that had a woman escaping through the fire that was scary af. I was gonna ask if that was your sister? (but I thought I read she had to rescue several horses) Glad she made it out ok.
  13. So hard to get sprinklers required *inside* single family homes across the US, even on just new construction. Foam, water spray, I'd imagine that would be a far tougher sell. Probably best bet is to work out a deal with the insurance company for lowered premiums and deductibles for greater protection.
  14. I'm not sure I fully concur with your point about Social media killing forums. Forums were around before SM, and they had a different purpose. FB, Twitter, Instagram all have their purposes but none of which IMHO are ideal to replace what forums have been for those who follow passions (i.e. cars, motorcycles, sports teams, audio, etc.). The email lists of old (Ferrari List, Lamborghini List) were largely killed off but still remain (the F one does, not sure about L). A forum is a more efficient way of managing discussions than email, although I do miss that the lists were not anonymous and thus kept people in check a lot better. I just can't see FB replacing forums. But if it does, oh well so be it. Haha.
  15. Why does it have to be slammed? Looks fine otherwise even if it's a 328 re-styled as a 308.
  16. I missed the EB110 acquisition. Stunning, and another legend of the '90s!!
  17. I have no skin in the game, but would recommend you drive the car before declaring it just a looker. I felt the 2005 FGT was a special car beyond its mere power and sound. It just had that feel in the steering, shifter, clutch, interior that separated it from a viper or POS. I had no idea I would have liked it so much prior to driving it. The new GT being designed as a race car first then detuned for the road versus virtually every other car should be intriguing. Ford will say the V6TT was the best choice of engine, and for racing it probably was. Otherwise for a pure street car, would have liked to have seen a V12.
  18. Agreed. Their vetting process seems more arrogant than the Ferrari way. It's like the consumers are an extension of the marketing budget.
  19. Agreed. 917 has to be the pinnacle of Porsche automobiles.
  20. Automated seatbelts in the TR....what year is it? 90?
  21. The early vlog reviews of the GT had it pegged as a "feels" car, particularly the steering. Instrument testing will not confirm or deny that, only a subjective evaluation can. Magazines in particular have been concerning from the beginning of time (and a bunch have called the Urus overrated while the subjective reports from people connected in the LP community is saying anything but). I knew it would be "slow" in a straight line. Lap times it might be beatable by other cars, but that doesn't tell the whole story. It was engineered as a race car then detuned for the street, which is the opposite of everything else that's out there (a luxury Ford would have that the major manufacturers wouldn't). My only real concern with the car was that it could do everything really well except blow you away with its sound.
