  1. I'm not saying anything that the real world hasn't shown on video. Watch the videos in post 1. That's not the first set of videos with that result. Anyhow, here is the acceleration data someone posted between their MP4 and their F12. MP4-12C: 0-100 km/h - 3,2s 0-200 km/h - 8,8s 0-300 km/h - 28,4s F12 berlinetta: 0-100 km/h - 3,3s 0-200 km/h - 8,5s 0-300 km/h - 22,1s
  2. I just got an F12 a couple weeks ago. It's pretty close to the MP4, but it does feel faster once it gets rolling. The MP4 feels quicker on the hit, but the F12 is just ferocious once it gets into the power. Absolute animal of a car. I believe someone somewhere Vboxed their MP4 and F12 and they were just about even to 130 and from there on up the F12 murdered it.
  3. It doesn't really surprise me anymore that the 12C is faster than pretty much everything. It's makes a good amount of power but it's one of the few cars that actually weighs anywhere close to it's advertised weight.
  4. Have an F12 at the moment. It is truly ridiculous fast. Pulls extraordinarily hard once it gets up a running.
  5. Wasn't really feeling it at first, but am loving this car now. Bananas.
  6. Regardless of what a stat sheet says, the F12 is clearly faster from a roll. AWD vs RWD on a damp runway doesn't have much to do with which car is faster where most people are concerned with using them. In either case, both cars are fast.
  7. Phenomenal car, boring video. Looks like the car gains a real head of steam and moves. Great turbo noises.
  8. That's the story. MarkH's Ford GT went 278.2 mph at the Texas Mile this morning. Mind boggling.
  9. Is there anyone that can legitimately see those wheels and think they look good?
  10. I also have this trailer. The side door does work with the exotics I've tried. I've towed a FGT, 458, G in it. With the v-nose, low height (I specc'd mine 6" taller than standard) and light aluminum weight, you can tow it and get decent mileage with pretty much anything.
  11. x 2 Rosso Mars on the Aventador is really awesome.
  12. Leno really is an awesome guy. I've had the good fortune to hang out at his garage several times, and everything everyone says about him being a car guy/gearhead/nice guy is true. He goes out of his way to get know you and talk shop about shared interests. We once went out on the freeway in some ancient wooden car that must have taken a mile to stop from 50 mph. He's honking and waving at the locals and doesn't seem too concerned that this thing would splinter into a million pieces in a fender bender. Quite the experience.
  13. Really love this car. I like the Aventador in general, but as a roadster it's straight bad ass. Was told the car is already sold.
  14. Depends on who did it. If it's a big name shop, you basically get all the money back. Some of the cars with random kits have sat for an eternity. Long term, I'm sure a car that has never been touched will be worth more. 99% of the system is reversible though, and I've toyed with the idea of eventually putting everything stock back on when I retire the car from heavy use for good. I had a red no stripe TT car that I traded on this MP4 a couple months ago and it brought about $213k with 3200 miles. I would think a stripeless red car with those miles is worth around $190k, so the turbo system (which was already on the car when I got it) didn't really have much of an effect on the value.
  15. There's a definite and obvious reason the cars are going up in value. No more production, no successor model and a fairly high rate of attrition for existing cars. The window of opportunity on a "next" GT that would materially affect the value of 05-06 cars is closed. Likelihood of anything remotely GT related is very, very slim. Cars continue to get wadded up. Some people go around claiming 2,000 have been totaled. Um, no. I would say more like 500 wiped from the earth, maybe double that with some kind of ding, and I get to see a whole lot of GTs in crashed condition with the VINs taped over. I think the prices have gone up too fast recently, and there's some definite stupidity in the auction mania. But I don't think you're ever going to see them plummet back to MSRP. GT holds up well against cars nearly 10 years newer and it's just a fun car to drive/own. Part of the pricing is driven by the massive amount of people that own multiple. Guys that own them love them, and because they can't get a new one, they hoard the old ones. I would say true market on virtually all cars is about what Shelby at Elite Autos asks. He's generally within a couple percentage points of what they sell for on his asking prices. He usually sells the lower mileage stuff (sub 10k), but I will say the higher mileage prices are what blow my mind. I've seen some pretty beat cars with 20k+ miles go for MSRP+. I thought a buddy of mine overpaid at $150k on a car that took a pretty heavy hit. Now I've seen similar cars go for $20k more. Wouldn't have called that one.
  16. I had expectations of where this would end up, and thus far they have been exceeded significantly.

Thanks. It's a shame you can't see the pearl all that well but I just couldn't get it to show in regular sunlight very well. McLaren does absolutely amazing paint work. Much better than their competitors in my opinion. The Elite paints are just phenomenal and in the sun the pearl on the white is awesome. I'll probably end up looking for a volcano red or yellow to replace it, which are equally stunning in person.

Nearly twins to the one I got. Took it in trade on another car and have it for sale now. As soon as it left the driveway I thought "I immediately regret this decision." That is one bad ass car. Majorly underappreciated.
  19. I'm generally pretty chill about letting the general population near my cars, but morons abound. One year at the F1 race I left my car at the house of an acquaintance that lives directly across the street from IMS who rents out spaces for $50 or whatever. When I came back some Indian dude was standing there with his buddies poring over the car and he leaves his sweating drink can on the roof as they are standing around having a chat. I said "Seriously?" and he just gives me the "Oh sorry about that" and takes it off. Is it gonna ruin the car? No. But I guess just being a car person and respectful of other people's property, I wouldn't use somebody else's 93 Civic as a coaster in the sweltering heat, let alone some strangers $200k car. Ironically, the worst car crowd I've ever been around as far as being moronically disrespectful of other people's cars was the last Indy F1 race.
  20. It's grown on me alot too. I still don't think it's an extremely good looking car, but it does look pretty crazy and purposeful. Biggest complaint is the sort of soft amphibian front/hood. Not a huge fan of Frank Stephenson's entire portfolio (Mini, 430, 612, MP4, P1). Some nice cars but nothing that makes me think people will encase them in glass down the road.
  21. Sometimes I think the gulf arabs just make the ugliest car possible to see if they can convince the manufacturers to do it.
  22. The easy answer is that it's apparently not hard to get an allocation for a P1, and it's essentially impossible to get a ThethetheFerrari. There's a message in there. The biggest factor I would weigh is your confidence in the global economy. The fact is, there are lots of players right now in an excruciatingly high dollar game. ThethetheFerrari, McLaren P1, Porsche 918. That's three vehicles with an MSRP at or above $1 mil that will end up comprising nearly 2,000 units of production. Are there enough people that can say "I don't care what it costs" or "I'll take 2" to buy all the Veyrons, LaLas, P1s, 918s, etc? And out of the group of people that can, are they all skipping the $500k Aventador roadsters and cars like the F12, etc? If the party never ends and new money in China, Russia, the Mid East, etc keep buying 1 of every flavor, then nobody will get hurt. Clearly ThethetheFerrari will always have a 500 buyer market, and McLaren was smart to cut production back from initial estimates. That leaves Porsche, to me, as the company that will likely leave people holding the bag after trying to sell 900 units of a $900k car regardless of the macro economy, but horribly if things slow down.
