I was searching the web and came across this picture. Is this real? I think this is it!

According to a self-identified participant in a Lamborghini preview, the upcoming LP700-4 is the Murcielago replacement we’ve been calling Jota. It’ll offer a 700-hp V12, a carbon-fiber body, sub-3.0-second 0-to-62 mph time, and hit 217 mph.

The tech specs for the car also known as Jota, supposedly from a private preview in Singapore, include a bunch of can’t-ignore-even-if-we’re-sick-of-Lambo-new-model-speculation information. Here’s the dirt straight from someone in-the-know at FerrariChat:

6.5L, 700Bhp, 680Nm @ 5500rpm & redlines @ 8250.

New 7 speed single clutch gearbox with two automode & 50 ms shifts!

But get this, Carbon monoque chassis & F1 style suspension on the rear

Car is 229kg lighter & 70% more rigid! 4WD.

Many new gadgets too for the cabin.

Car will be shown in Geneva Auto next spring. Get ready your cheque book!

Oh, forgot to mention this. 0-100 in 2.9 secs & 350Km/h top speed.

The chatty fellow was unable to share pics or how much the new ride resembles the all-carbon fiber Sesto Elemental (pictured) and unveiled in Paris, since Lamborghini reps confiscated cameras and cell phones prior to entry. But most importantly, he was able to confirm the presence of scissor-type doors, ensuring another generation will be blessed with people lusting for upward-swinging enclosures on their Toyota Yaris.

Oh ok sorry about that, I looked back til page 40 and didn't see it posted.

Thank you, very much. I've been trying not to repost, and learn back stories, such as the reason for the Ronin/Allan thread(s). You (Swil) have some good posts in the business section too btw.

Just got the word from my dealer that the orders are going in. Still haven't decided on colors. Probably going to be either the old Battleship Grey or the new Grigio Estoque with black leather/black alcantara inserts. Kinda sucks only to have seen the car in white before picking which color to get it in, though.

My order went into the Lamborghini system a few weeks ago. I couldn't get black alcantara with black leather, has your dealer confirmed this combination is possible?

Carbon Fiber Body Kit for the Lamborghini Aventador

DMC is proud to announce that it has been the first tuner, world wide, that has placed a purchase order for the new Aventador. While this means nothing yet in terms of products, we are thrilled to get our hands on it along the first batch of cars that will be shipped.

This also means that we have our 3D scanners ready to build exciting carbon fiber parts for tuning this biest. Expect to see carbon fiber side mirrors for the Aventador as well as a front lip diffusor a few weeks after the car‘s out. Consequently we‘re sure to have a new carbon fiber wing as well as some other goodies (rear diffuser) for the Lamborghini Aventador as well.

http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2011/01...s-revealed.html

Short of revealing the new Aventador LP700-4 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Lamborghini revealed a new selection of details about it’s upcoming supercar, which company CEO Stephan Winkelmann says will be the trendsetter of the next decade.

At a private event the night before the Detroit Auto Show, company execs confirmed that the successor to the Murcielago will keep the current cars DNA, retaining scissor doors, AWD and the current models massive air intakes. All the rest, however, will be new.

Winkelmann confirmed that the car will get a carbon fiber chassis; and not just a tub like the McLaren F1, but a complete shell including the roof. Plus carbon fiber will be used for the rocket panels as well. As rumored, the LP700-4 will get a pushrod suspension setup, similar to those found on race cars. “This will be the first time such a suspension is used on a normal production car,” said Winkelmann.

Lamborghini has already announced details of the car’s new engine, which will displace 6.5-liters and have 12-cylinders. Power will be rated at roughly 690-hp. It will be 18 percent more powerful than the Murcielago, while also emitting 20 percent fewer emissions says Lamborghini R&D boss Maurizio Reggiani . As for the transmission, Lamborghini will make use of its new ISR 7-speed transmission – the first use of a 7-speed with a V12 in the industry. With five gear settings, (auto strada, auto sport, strada, sport and corsa) the innovative transmission will be able to deliver shift times of just 50 ms in Corsa – which is almost as quick as a Formula 1 car.

Reggiani says that in Auto Strada mode shifts will be close to 300 to 400 ms to allow for a more comfortable drive, with 150 ms in the manual shift modes. As for the decision to not use a dual-clutch setup, Reggiani says it is for two reasons. “We decided to use a single clutch because first we want the customer to feel the emotion in shifting. Second we want to reduce weight.” Further explaining himself, Reggiani says that a dual-clutch setup would be 20 kg heavier and also less efficient, as in order for a dual-clutch to deliver the ‘shift-shock’ feeling of changing gears, it needs to interrupt the delivery of power. Not so with the ISR.

As for the rest of the car it will be more ergonomic than even the Gallardo, with space for larger drivers. The dash will feature a new TFC instrument cluster, meaning that it won’t have traditional physical gauges, but that all instrumentation will be displayed on a screen.

Previewing most everything but the shape of the actual car, unfortunately Lamborghini won’t be making the big reveal in Detroit. Instead, look for the car at the Geneva Auto Show in March.

Lamborghini gives details of new supercar

DETROIT -- Though saving the unveiling of its upcoming supercar until the Geneva Motor Show in March, Automobili Lamborghini divulged several major technical details about its Murcielago replacement.

The vehicle will retain its V-12, all-wheel-drive layout, but the body and chassis will be entire constructed from carbon fiber, said Maurizio Reggiani, Lamborghini’s r&d chief.

Teaming with Boeing Corp. and the University of Washington for research help, Lamborghini created a carbon fiber tub and body that boasts stiffness calculated as 35,000 Newton-meters per degree of deflection. By comparison of stiffness, the Koenigsegg CCR is 28,100 Nm, the Ferrari F50 is 34,600 Nm, and the existing Murcielago is 20,000 Nm.

The V-12 engine will remain at 6.5 liters, but with a different bore and stroke. It will generate 700hp and 509 foot-pounds of torque. It also will produce 20 percent fewer CO2 emissions, about 390 grams per kilometer, Reggiani said.

The gearbox, still sourced from Graziano Trasmissioni Group, will be the first seven-speed automatic mated to a V-12 engine. When in “Corsa” mode, shifts can be accomplished in 50 milliseconds. By contrast, a typical Formula 1 racecar shifts in 40 ms.

Rather than borrow Audi’s dual-clutch gearbox technology, Lamborghini will use a single-clutch with dual synchronizers, which Reggiani says weighs 44 pounds less and occupies less space.

Slowing the car will be carbon ceramic disc brakes, 400mm in the front, 380mm in the back. The suspension will feature horizontal dampers connecting to double wishbones, very similar to how Formula 1 cars are equipped.

Although Lamborghini officials declined to give the name of the car -- referring to it by code name A34 -- the company has applied for the U.S. trademark name “Aventador.”
