marley Report post Posted September 13, 2011 What do you guys think this will do to the prices of the 996? I see 02 C2s with around 40k miles for about 26 to 30k. Do you guys think that it will bring the prices down even more or so you think they will gradually come up like 993s? The reason I'm asking is that I've had an itch for a sports car and my accord just isn't cutting it for me. I'd like to spend 30k at most for my first sports car and I've heard Porsche's are pretty bullet proof. I plan on driving the car daily and didn't think a Viper would suit my needs or be quite as reliable, not to mention that you really can't beat German ingenuity. Do you think that within a year 997 C2s would be in that price range? Also I would love to know if anyone knows a website, not a forum, that has a ton of information on 996s. A 3.6 996 (02 and up) is a bargain at around $30k. Very reliable (Besides RMS leaks, but most of those were done under warranty) relatively quick and handle/brake great. Porsche made more 996's than any other 911 ever. Prices are likely to go down a bit more but you wont see them in the $18k range any time soon (Like the 99-01's currently are). They will never appreciate like a 993. Maybe GT3's and GT2's but other than that you will see depreciation till they hit their bottom. I have already seen 997's in the mid $30's (See link below) so, if there was a way you could swing another $5k or wait until you could you would be a much happier man. The 997 is a much much better car. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p...;standard=false

bxtech Report post Posted September 22, 2011 Very nice! The design features are very modern, but still very classic at the same time. This is what was always great about Porsche and the 911 evolution.

I respect their power..but for 130K+ you would expect something Unique..

LuisGT3 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 i can't tell the difference from a 97 porsche and this 2012 .. The 911 is always been an evolution. It's not supposed to look like a completely different car. That is what is great about Porsches. There is more of an esthetic difference between a 97 911 and a 2012 911 that there between an R34 GTR and an R35 GTR, FYI. Vegasgtr Report post Posted January 12, 2012 Well that's like saying for 100k I'd want my GTR not to look like 25k Altima and expect something unique. Thats an opinion guess... R35 looks nothing like a alitma , the car does turn heads (10x more than a standard 911) Of course this is a lambo forum so I can see how most people on here think its ugly.. compared to a Aventador or 458 italia its looks like a honda civic.. looks wise, Lambos and Ferrari's have the IT factor.. the porsches have the shIT factor in style.. Sorry. Only person whose head turns for GTR is a pimply faced boy. I'll give the GTR it's performance value but visually its an Altima or maxima. It does draw a ton of attention and yes unfortunatly it is a dick magnet .. I dont really care about attention , just bought for its street performance and at 90K (incudes mods and car) can't complain on what it does 9.5s@150 E85 street form ..its a perfect street car.
