Shooter in Las Vegas

I've talked to a a couple more versed than I, and they speculate a crank style trigger feature. Where every turn gets 4-5 rounds, which matches the audible variances of the shooting pattern. Speculation though as nothing confirmed.

Makes for a serious death machine and no way you could outlaw such a device as it looks like it would not be too hard to make your own if motivated.

At the beginning of the video before the taxi moves the shots are clearly coming from two separate locations are they not?! Very close and much further away and then very close again. And not the echoes, there was way too much time in between rounds.

I made a very basic interpretation of the taxi driver's path in regards to the sounds in the video and question of two shooters locations. Attached a picture below and I will explain my thoughts.

 

 

First, the taxi driver start position matched with video to Google street view. She started recording at the tail end of the first volley, catching the echos as the first sounds in the video. The next are loud shots at 0:03-0:04 seconds, followed by the echos matching those shots at 0:06-0:07.

 

The next are "farther" sounds of gunfire at 0:46-0:52 into the video. After that come the loud volley again at 1:08 with echos, then she passed under the cover of the small green topped tunnel. She rolled her window up during the drive through this tunnel.

 

*My explanation is this is the shooter changing vantage points in his room. I do not believe it is indication of two shooters at two locations. My thought process is because the taxi was sitting behind the tower containing the exposed windows. I believe those (0:46-0:52 seconds) came from Vantage 2, and the building itself was a sound barrier. This window point was effectively on the other side of the building from the taxi, making the shots sound farther away. Once he switched to Vantage 1 (1:08) the sound was less obstructed coming out from the corner window so the taxi seemed to be almost directly below it.

 

Sorry if I went overboard with this. I think I'm just still feeling shocked. The videos are so chilling.

a bumpfire stock allows the stock to slide about half an inch instead of a fixed postion. It uses the recoil from the last round fired to push the rifle backwards and then the person firing pushes forward on the muzzle and it creates an effect where you have the rifle bouncing off the finger. If you get good at it,it creates a full auto effect, but where the rifle and firing pin,trigger etc havent been modified its completely legal

a .308 is a heavy round used in big game hunting. 400-600 yards from the Mandalay to the concert venue is less than half of its effective range

 

Wow that AR firing off with the bump fire in that video sounds almost exactly like it.

Call me crazy, but could anyone picture this having been done to sabotage the casino?

Middle photo - are those also magazines stacked next to pillar?

Speculation is there is a note written on that pink paper in the last photo. No official news on it, could be nothing.

Clearly there was some rounds exchanged through that door. Judging by the way the wood looks peeled he must have shot through it at whomever was breaching.

Those are absolutely mags next to the pillar. No belt fed weapons I'd bet, as the shot cadence changes frequently throughout the event. I'm also going to say the 4th floor video is just a reflection from something and not another shooter

I’m sure we’ll hear more and it’s probably likely that in addition to there was also a crank style trigger. But here’s a picture of one of the DD rifles on the floor with a very clear bump fire stock on it

Lawsuit was against the Cosmo. He lost. Still owes $275 in court fees.

The lawsuit was against the cosmopolitan. I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think that’s an mgm property. Having said that. Mgms stock was down 5% yesterday.

He shot through the door twice. Hit a hotel security guard and a cop.

 

The swat team then blew the door off the hinges with a breach charge.

 

Those suites have double doors. I stayed in that room a few floors below a few days ago.

When I heard the gunfire from the crowd videos, immediately thought it was a 5.56 magazine fed rifle. The sound of 5.56 is very distinct, I've watched hundreds of videos of our guys in Afghanistan firing M4s and it sounds exactly like this. He's also just mag dumping 30-40 rounds and then reloading. With a belt fed, the rate of fire would have been maintained for far longer durations. Doesn't sound at all like a 30 to me.
