991 GT3

Reminds me of "blah blah blah no more GT2 after 2009" nonsense. If plenty of cup car owners say they want a manual GT3RS, it will happen. Porsche follows profits. There are many cup owners who are annoyed they can't have a GT3 with a manual on the street.

Cup cars have sequential transmissions. Cup car owners would more than likely prefer whatever is more practical/convenient for their non track Porsche= PDK. Porsche doesn't sell tons of cup cars either way, definitely not enough for their buyers to sway anything in any direction if they all wanted something.

PDK is one of the best dual clutch transmissions out there. Significantly better than e-gear. We are going to have to learn to deal with it, but I don't mind it at all, I actually like it. Quicker shifts= quicker lap times.

Few years back when I said the manual transmission will be dead soon I didn't expect it to be this soon!

DCT is the best transmission hands down so no loss there other than some nostalgia.

90% sure the 991 Turbo will not be available in a manual.

Just ordered one today. Expect ETA around year end.

I'm keeping a couple of manual cars around for a very long time so I'm not bothered by where the automotive market is drifting towards in the transmission department. There is definitely a magical feeling in having 3 pedals and rowing gears. That said I am probably in the minority of looking forward to the GT3 in PDK form.

Porsche definitely knows their audience and in the interview with Andreas, he has mentioned that "feel" was a very important factor in the design of this car. It will be interesting to see how they are able to instill their philosophy of involvement into the next generation of focused cars.

Last I checked, no one ever complained about a lack of involvement in the Scuderia.

That car looks pretty awesome. I like the 991 Porsches a lot - I don't think it can take the place of a G in my mind (emotion wise), but it could be a very nice addition to any garage.

Agreed. Definitely an addition. No way it will replace the G.

Actually he says some very interesting things in there about the progress, about the flappy paddles and the engine... Lots of cross over talk when you watch that after filtering through the Gallardo Successor thread.

Wow, I really really dig this car!

Damn, when they stopped all deliveries and told everyone to park them I figured it was going to be bad. Obviously they have a lot more faith in their dealer mechanics than most do.

My colleague in Spain has the car for several weeks, and only put 200km in it, because after picking the car on a Friday the dealer called him the next week to tell him of this issue, and strongly advised him to stop the car. The car is stored ever since, and the there is no date set to get the car fixed.

To rub salt in the wound, he sold his old GT3 RS to a business owner from the building next door , who has been tearing it down through the complex almost every day for the last month... And is difficult not to hear it.

I would not be happy if after spending nearly 200000 € on a new car and having a great Spring weather for the last month, the only thing that the GT3 is worth for is taking up space in the garage. Talk about fast depreciation, and without getting any fun...

This is something expected from a Italian brand (probably they would not admit to nothing, and would called it caracther...), but from Porsche I was expecting better engineering and a proper test program... Maybe they are being overzealous, but the problem is real nonetheless...

I guess this puts Lamborghini as a trusted brand, regarding reliability. How times have changed...
