  2. That's absolutely NOT true. The ones that do, make the getaway in the first couple minutes before they can scramble the troops. Only problem with a long stretch of road is you have no exits to duck off, and i'm sure they will have someone waiting for you up ahead.

Ok, so you had two black wires going into the stat. Were the white and bare wires from each batch tied together? Sounds like it's a hot-switched setup where the t-stat connects the circuit on the power wires. One black wire is legitimately hot, while the other goes to trigger the unit. Until the t-stat makes the connection, the unit is off. Your t-stat is functioning like a thermostatically controlled relay essentially. I would bet if you touch the two black wires together the heater comes on This is a really odd setup and I'm guessing the house is rather old? At any rate if you're questioning things dealing with line voltage it's probably best to let an electrician look it over. I'm pretty knowledgeable about electronics in general but with old homes you just never know what is going on from a distance. Depending on the situation, you might look into wiring the stat in 12v. Your car doesn't run a 4awg wire to the key switch, then down to the starter; it's got a little 24awg wire that trips a relay and flows the big current. btw, yeah you definitely fried the fcuk out of that digital stat.

Does this just control heaters, not a central HVAC system? Is this a 240v electric heater? The bare solid copper wire (non-stranded) is ground. (in stranded wiring it will be green, or green w/yellow stripe) White is neutral Black is hot. If you put your voltmeter leads on black and white or black and ground, you should get a reading of something. From the size of the wire it very well may be line voltate. But obviously the breaker needs to be switched on for this to function. Were the two separate groups wired together in the original thermostat?

Wait... so you have line voltage running through your thermostat? That REALLY doesn't sound right to me at all! Any modern HVAC system will only be 12v to the control panel. How many wires were hooked to the old thermostat? How big are they?
  6. IMO, keep your eye on the big picture. Showing the utmost integrity to not only a family member but industry leader and long time mentor is absolutely critical. He's been willing to guide you through your career and is likely molding you to fill a future void in his company, which very well may be his shoes at some point? I wouldn't step on his toes for anything, especially since not only would your personal advancement have to get his approval, but he has the ability to end your career in its tracks. Take him out to dinner and put it all on the table, it's the only way your reputation stays squeaky clean through all this.
  7. And with that i'm googling myself and deleting any eronious info I can lol. Note to self: Change cell number Man, no I see why my pops always told me to have EVERYTHING owned and titled as an out of state LLC in a trust. At least then it makes things marginally more difficult to search tax records, vehicle registration, etc. Wonder if the guy put that info together and emailed it back to the spammer... talk about shitting your pants!
  8. Actually... Yup. In person, it's just not my style. Yeah the tranny/double clutch works great, but to me, it's just too blah. I prefer something more raw, I want to know it shifted and isn't just a computer taking me for a ride. Last ferrari I really loved was the F40. 360cs was pretty but slow and boring. G Spyder is a great driver but needs more power. LP Roadster is amazing for presence, with a TT kit and 4 digit HP it must be fantastic. So yes, it's a cuntmobile and I wouldn't spend a dime of my $$$ on one.
  9. You would! Wait till you lay eyes on the 570P, just transplant that TT system and you'll be a model of perfection. 458 is a ferrarifag cuntmobile!
  10. AP merely denotes that it's accepted as credit for a Jr. College. Some univ will take it as undergrad courses. Yes I had O-Chem and upper level phys in HS, but had to go to a local college to take them. Same way I was at the HS in 8th grade taking classes. Is this uncommon? Myself and a cousin went from even a normal HS right into Univ at the Soph level. I figured someone coming from $$$ like that would be coming out of a private HS and going right into an Ivy League school. Even the guys I know who did mediocre at Webb got accepted to Pepperdine. At any rate, enjoy your sleds and keep them rubber side down.
  11. Wait... your family has the scratch to buy cars like that, yet sends you to a school that doesn't offer anything past Calc 1? WTF? I thought all kids with any kind of $$$ went to private schools that pushed you a lot further along. Webb School etc.
  12. My dad told me that when i got my first car, a $4k 1985 toyota, in 1996. He said don't sweat it, you'll tear this thing to pieces in the next year and you'll be ready for something nicer. Just being a kid, he was damn right. Not purposely tearing it up, but just doing stupid kid shit. I can say without a doubt I would be dead if I had a car like that at his age, hell I sometimes wonder how I made it through buying a viper at 23, blind luck i suppose. RE the picture of the dead girl. As I recall that was a lowly 996-2 cab, girl was drunk, pissed off at dad and took of in a typical teenage girl bitch tyrant fit. She misjudged that toll booth a bit and well, the cinderblock box won. Not only should most kids not be given cars like that, but parents need to keep the keys locked away (for many other reasons as well) so stupid kids can't do stupid things.
  13. How the fcuk can this guy sleep at night? And what attorney actually took the case?
  14. I think they are not questioning his ability to handle the car, but more so his maturity level to not do stupid things with it.
  15. Look through the classifieds sometime. . . dude has give or take $2m worth of a couple cars and two watches for sale currently. When you're "in the way, haven't used it in a year, might as well sell it" tally easily runs multi-millions, you're doing ok in my book. Plenty of homes here in SoCal with a master bedroom/bathroom/closet alone that run 4k sq/ft.
  16. I'm 5 chapters in and going strong. Nothing here can steer you wrong and has only motivated me fruther. If for nothing else that was well worth the purchase price. IMO, books are too damn cheap these days. Given the hundreds of hours involved you have to sell 10k copies to make it worth the effort. Thanks for taking the time to put your experiences into literature. FWIW, I would love to hear more from AJGLOBAL on his business and successes. Sounds like a hard fight that paid off well.
  17. Apolo 13... pilot... LMFAO! ! ! I love cars more than most and I will never personalize one to the extent of calling it a Gal, naming them, etc. My real Gal my call it a mistress, but it's the kind she approves of! Hell she wants a gallardo more than I do! Speaking of which, Peak has been very quiet about this. I can only suspect there is some litigious vengeance behind the quiet facade?
  18. Car for the $$$ it's pretty hard to be an 18 month old AMG 65 CL or S.
  19. Just licking your finger? bah you'll be fine just give it time. Pounding a few glasses of water will only help your kidneys, but you're far from hospital bound. You probably absorb more than that through your hands just holding the rag soaked in it.
