THATS the kid I want to help out....

The more I learn about the protestors, the more it looks to be rich kids, "slumming it" to rebel against their rich parents, who's only crime is that of giving their children everything they've ever wanted.

Don Corleone should have taught parenting skills:

I have a sentimental weakness for my children and I spoil them as you can see. They talk when they should listen.

So... If were going to compare "Occupy Wallstreet" to NWA, what will the album be called?

And their hit song would be F*** _____?

The article did touch on the hypocritical nature of people wanting an egalitarian society when they really just want to be with the top 1%.

This is another perspective.. but what is her degree in?

While disciplined, will she, with this thrifty attitude, have the ambition to start a business?

These kids (and parents) were sold on the idea of good easy "you deserve it" life - "Don't worry Turtle, it will all workout!" Hey TV darlings, how do you afford all these nice things and a condo in Manhattan by working at a coffee shop?

And now reality is crawling into their lives... and it's ugly, and there are no James Bond/Baywatch lifeguard jobs to go around.. because those jobs aren't even real

and reality suddenly looks as a life of an accountant, or a truck driver, or something else completely unglamorous. And whoa... where did all the penthouse parties and trips to international waters with the playboy bunnies suddenly disappear to?

Reality has been labeled boring. It is what your grandfather used to do, and life was different back then. Only it's not, and there are bills to pay.

I write this as I see a lot of change in my friends as we turn 27 - from those who already own businesses to those who are trying to start them to those working at XYZ... this pill is hard to swallow, but the longer you don't, the more you become the man in his late 30's who still thinks his "adventure" is just around the corner.. the climax is coming, and the life he always deserved will manifest itself.

Listen.... I dont expect 20 somethings to start a business. Sure, there have been a few really successful ones, but in recent history, those have been relegated to starting computer and internet related companies. And for most of them, the early "business" sides of those endeavors have left a lot to be desired as the wunderkids focused on the invention side of things...

I expect a 20 year old to keep his eyes open, his mouth shut, and to be eager and energetic to WORK. Its that ATTITUDE that separates him from the slackers. I dont expect him to be the boss, because the fcuking kid hasn't learned how to be a boss yet. HE WILL- IN TIME... IF HE HAS THE RIGHT fcuking ATTITUDE....

If he doesnt, he'll be another cubicle monkey bouncing off the glass ceiling of his own ego for the rest of his life.

Nima,im not directing this towards you because i know your just joking with Romamdad,I just wanted to preface this comment with that.

I've spent years on this site now and Romandad to me is like my whacky gun loving Internet father who is full of insight, knowledge and EXPERIANCE.

Every time a subject of any consequence comes up, every single time,I know that when Romandad weighs in he will be able not only to help give a better grasp of what's taking place but can put into words the frustration and sometimes anger that I'm feeling in a way that I would understand it clearly. He might not say it politically correct but that's what I appreciate. We live in a world where everyone walks on egg shells worried they are going to offend someone with what they say or think it's so fcuking refreshing to hear a smart person who shares the same views I do on most things say it in a way that he really is just "telling us how he feels". I didn't want this to sound like ass kissing but just a Thanks for speaking your mind.

While I can't agree with everything that's said or done within these protests, there are aspects of the corporate influence on political parties that does not sit comfortably at all with me. When voters start feeling like politicians are listening more to the corporations and their ledgers than the people then you don't have a happy balance.

Whether you agree with these 'occupy' movements or not, given the current worldwide financial situation and events over the last few years it's pretty clear that the system is not in a healthy position and something needs to change. Accountability has gone out the window, and 'too big to fail' has been introduced. It's not just wall street.... US deficits, RE bubbles, EU in a bad way....things are just generally bad right now.

This just needs to be a wake up call for people worldwide to stop trying to point fingers, wake up and just take responsibility of your own actions and finances. If you don't have any more money....STOP SPENDING! If you can't find a job that meets your specific criteria....FIND ONE THAT DOESN'T! The people have a right to be angry cause our governments aren't confidence inspiring right now.

I don't disagree with these protesters. I don't agree with an entitlement mindset either but I do believe the top 0.1% of this country have become way too powerful to the point they essentially control the government and all laws in one shape or another are passed to benefit them. Even this millionaire tax will not affect them because of the ample tax loopholes available to them. I do believe we have serious problems that need to be resolved soon or we risk a violent revolution sort of like the French one of 1789.

The wealth disparity in this country has accelerated at an astonishing pace the last 20 plus years. The top 1% own almost half the wealth , average CEO pay in the US is more than 300 times the average employee vs 50 times 40 years back. Throughout most of the world the average CEO makes no more than 30 times the average employee and sometimes less including developed countries. The middle class has seen their earnings shrink the last 20 years yet the CEOs and upper management have continued to see rapid income gains. When is all this going to stop ? When the average employee becomes a slave and offers their labor for free and all the profit goes to the CEO ?

Socialism exists in this country - at the very top of the pyramid. CEOs make their million even if they run companies into the ground. John Thain makes $83 million while running Merrill Lynch into the ground. Bob Nardelli gets a $210 million severance package even as Home Depot under performs. Sure these are private contracts but nonetheless CEOs stack the upper echelons of management and the board of directors with their cronies. They all sit on each others boards and vote exorbitant pay packages for one another. Its nepotism at its finest. They are thousands of people that can do the same job as these CEOs for 1/10th of what these guys are paid. CEOs run their companies like personal fiefdoms. Their cronies occupy the top positions, they control the board, they compensate themselves as much as they possibly can. Shareholders have no say. If the company performance sucks, the CEO just waves his magic wand, fires 10% of the workforce, forces others to take pay cuts, outsources a bunch of job and just like that all is 'fixed'.

I have no problem with CEOs like Gates and Jobs who started successful companies and make money through IPOs and stock price appreciation. These are the people who start successful companies, take big risks and create real value and hence make millions. They are the true entrepreneurs and we should admire them. But there are other CEOs who simply work their way up the corporate ladder through a combination of office politics, ass kissing, cock sucking, and god knows what else. These CEOs are paid in salary, bonuses and stock options at very low strike prices. So no matter how badly they perform they still make millions. Its a complete joke. Its socialism because its a complete win win win situation for them. Heads I win. Tails you lose. And if for some reason they lose their job as CEO for running the company into the ground, they get hired as CEO by another company at the behest of their friends sitting on that companies board of directors. This is truly a fu*ked up state of affairs !

I'm not going to hate on the big money these CEOs make, but I do have a problem with the lack of accountability for people running PUBLIC companies. Especially those companies that ruin the lives of others...

If a licensed professional (e.g. doctor, architect, engineer, etc) is involved in a major lawsuit for which he/she is negligent or maybe a slight oversight, if found guilty, it's possible for that individual's life to come to a crashing halt, even bankruptcy (insurance can only go so far). It's a risk that many professionals deal with on a daily basis and their upside is nowhere near a 9 figure payday.

In some states like New York, you can only practice as a licensed professional as a Professional Corporation, not an LLC....specifically so you cannot hide from the liability!

That is what bothers me. If a CEO could face these same consequences, I'd have no problem....but the reality is that CEO = do whatever you want with impunity.

:iamwithstupid: The banks cant treat their investments like its their money. Its their customer's money that they've pooled.

and Rob I agree 100% with you, no need for the preface. Roman's opinion is one of the ones I was most anticipating to hear (and he didn't take long :P ) and even if I do or don't agree with what he is saying, he lays down a good base for discussion by not beating around the bush!

Took the words right out of my mouth. I'm glad I'm part of the 1%. The above basically mimics my situation.

Isnt the 1% in reference to those worth millions who are the 1% who pay 50% of the current taxes?
