Roman Report post Posted October 27, 2012 Im thinking about getting a suppressor for one of my guns. But man every time I think about it I just think for that same price or a little more I could buy a whole new gun. So I may just get a 1911 that Ive always wanted and call it a day. Im thinking a Kimber. Any reason why to or not to get a Kimber over any other models? Kimbers the best. I still hate 1911s. jhbchess Report post Posted October 27, 2012 Kimbers the best. I still hate 1911s. fwiw, I have a Springfield 1911 (the 'Loaded' model) and like it quite a bit. Full size, good weight, the sights are sufficient. I got to shoot some guns with an FBi swat guy out n california and he had the government springfield 1911 which was pretty cool. that's when i went and bought mine. I'm not experienced enough with the gun to tell you the difference between my model and his, or between the springfield and kimber. i also have s&w model 640 .357 magnum and it's my new favorite for the range, although i do not shoot it as accurately as the springfield at the moment. i'm reading a new book that is supposed to help improve my shooting... http://www.lambopower.com/forum/uploads/mo...-1350767951.jpg
TestShoot Report post Posted October 27, 2012 1911 is definitely outdated in design, but folks like les Baer, kimber and even Sig have made them more reliable. I need one, but there are too many versions.
Saleenfan Report post Posted October 28, 2012 some input would be appreciated here. IM looking for a new range/fun gun and I want a military patterned rifle that is unique but still uses NATO rounds. In other words I want a military style rifle that is not an AK or AR that i can shoot cheap and find ammo readily. What I have narrowed it down to is the HK91, HK93 or a FAL variant. I am building a .308 long range now so having another .308 gun would be a plus with the same ammo (i dont own a .223 yet). Anybody have any experience with any of these or any recommendations for something else (I wana keep it sub 1k please)

Try them out! .308 is going to pack a punch on your target (and wallet) but they are a blast to shoot. You said "shoot cheap," which really isn't what the idea is behind .308. Your best bet is to go for something like an AR and make it your own. I have an AK and absolutely love it (I named her Sasha after the porn star Sasha Grey)... BUT they are definitely not "cheap" to shoot. There is a reason everyone and their brother has an AR. Parts, ammo, and accessories are all readily available and there are lots of options. I bought a big box of 500rds of 7.62 for long-term storage. I don't shoot enough to really care about shooting costs, but it really isn't cheap compared to what else is out there. My tip? Wait until after the election to buy.

Charlie Report post Posted November 5, 2012 BLK85 - I owned a 1911 Kimber and it is an excellent sidearm. I still have my Nighthawk Custom Predator II and it has been to hell and back and still is my favorite 1911. I personally feel that if you have all the firearms you need then the next step is to always move into suppressor and full auto weapons. Once you own a suppressor you will want one for everything you shoot! TheUkranianStig - If you are looking for a "range/fun gun" and do not own a .223 then it is a no brainer to own one. It is less expensive to shoot than the .308 and it is a blast to shoot. You should be able to fin a pre-owned AR/M4 for $1k. If you want to go new then get a AK and have some spare change for a red dot, etc. Okay - a pic and maybe a night video (if this computer let's me upload) of us shooting...do not make fun of my boonie strap being under my chin...It gives me a headeache to strap it behind my head over a long period....
