In one of the earlier clips I saw they were quickly wheeling a guy on a stretcher towards an ambulance and it looked like all his limbs were there but he looked unconscious and there was an EMS on the rolling stretcher doing chest compressions.

That man did a hell of a job.

Kudos to him.. A true hero.. I dont think I could do it.. Would of passed out right then and there. But then again they say in times like that adrenaline takes over.

These people with the amputations were standing within 5 or so feet of the blast.... As you get further outside that, the shrapnel starts rising.... And hitting more vital areas... Take a piece in the chest or head, and its lights out.

"The man in the cowboys hat is Carlos Arredondo. He is an immigrant citizen of the U.S. who lost his son in Iraq and is now a peace activist and speaker. When the explosions happened, you can see that he did not hesitate to run towards the chaos and help, obviously trying to get this poor man out of there and to hold a tourniquet on one of his severed legs. Later, he was being interviewed, visibly shaking from shock and holding an American flag, soaked in the blood of other people. Carlos Arredondo’s selflessness and bravery should be known and applauded.”

Interview with him:

What a great guy.

Lady in blue at the bottom of the pics in one of Rob's links looks dead. That pic of Cowboy hat and wheel chair was the one on multiple sites, only cropped to keep out the view of his bones. Interesting that the bricks around that guy with no legs, when he is on the ground, looks relatively unscathed. I'm no bomb expert but it looks like the blast went out and up, with almost nothing going down into the ground like a fricken land mine. I wonder why the bomber/s waited until the later part of the race as opposed to earlier when the front runners crossed...seems like there would have been more people then, as opposed to the average joes finishing the race in about 4 hours (i think the clock was around the 4 hour mark?). Unreal...8 year old died, probably there to cheer mom or dad crossing the finish line...with the blast that devastating closer to the ground....fcuking shitbag terrorist nutjob motherfuckers, whether foreign or domestic, fcuk you!

They should give that guy a medal. 99 out of 100 people would not hold someone's femoral artery closed and walk down the street with it. I would likely throw up along the way for sure.

RD - I am assuming the question you asked me after my post about the box is from the image you posted at 12:37 on page two? If that is the box you are talking about then I think it had nothing to do with the IED. If you look at that image you posted on page two you can clearly see where the garbage can was or where at least the IED was - the only clean area with no debris NE of light pole (also your image on page 1 you can still see the smoke coming from this origination). Note that most of the garbage is south of the blast and most of the casualties (blood) is south of that as well. The blast must have been able to release south thus not alot of casualties north of the blast except for the pedestrians immediately around it.

Allan - you would not have fainted - you would do most likely one of three bodily functions under stress:

1. Immediately help people and not even think about what danger you put yourself in.

2. Flee/run.

3. Just stand there and not realize you are in the middle of it...

I think most of us here with our personalities, need for speed, etc would not flee. The pedestrians that are injured are not crying nor screaming (no matter how bad their injury is) because they are in shock.

Okay, from above post I just mentioned what type of person or how your body/mind will react - Carlos Arredondo (man in cowboy hat) is 1. Immediately help people and not even think about what danger you put yourself in. Carlos lost his son in Iraq. Carlos did not hesitate...Thank you Carlos for your bravery!

When your limbs are blown off like that, the body also eliminates the pain for awhile. They say you just feel a tingling feeling initially.

A veteran at the sight reported smelling cordite.

British 18 pounder field gun shrapnel round, World War I.

Brisanzgranate_1_db.jpg

The things on the bottom that look like string tied together are cordite. Used as a detonator and propellant.

Seems to me the bomber made something similar to this

Sickening/Awful.

i heard bits and pieces earlier and am just getting caught up now. I hope US intelligence goes batshit and tracks down all the mofo's involved in short order.
